Priorities for the summer
Roverthechimp replied to wilsdenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The issue is unlikely to be Venkys refusing to pay for a pitch. Think more about a decision regarding upkeep and a suggestion that the budget for that be raised by a factor of 100 That would probably cost Waggot his job. Much better to say a request has been made that he refused and saved them x millions Good boy - pat on head and owners feel good that somebody is looking after their pennies… -

Make sure that JDT stays- preferably by signing players for positions that he has prioritized… -
Would the 28th be 14 days after the request for arbitration and, according to the regulations, the last date for it to be held in accordance with the EFL rules? 🤔😉

January Transfer Window.

Agree - the story is a win-win for the idiots at the club. The only question is why BB hasn’t signed the Villarreal deal. If it is because of family then i think it is a reasonable deal for the club. That the club is using it to distract from catastrophic failures on all levels of admin is also clear. -

And from one of those 3 players we heard that an offer was forthcoming but too late (and probably too short of a deal). So all things considered I find it plausible that we would offer something to someone already expected to have a better option in place… That it comes from Nacko makes me think the real offer will be about 18k a week -

We might have done but at that point he was being touted for PL riches can imagine we made offers for 2+1 year around the 15-20k mark but his agent told us to do one on the, reasonable, assumption that he could do much much better. As it is now - if the player is hesitant about a relocation and form is not there then the agent is doing his job by exploring options ”in accordance with his clients wishes” whilst possibly improving the odds for a successful and lucrative move. -

Do we know that the Villareal move is ”big money”? Can actually see it being less than most PL clubs and a good few championship clubs although maybe not 5 years -

1.5m all in for a 10-20 goal striker for one season is pretty cheap (imo) Consider that it is not much more than the total cost for a decent loan Of course at a normal club it wouldn’t be necessary but we are Rovers 🤣 -

That or we have been encouraged to make such an offer by someone who suspects/knows that BB isn’t ready for a long term move -

Beat me too it Rovers have always been (overly) generous to injured players regarding extending contracts so that may reduce that fear -

Morton back in - maybe need the money for O brien … -
We once sued our own ceo (and lost) We can piss away money (lost transfer fees, master plans, spurious legal cases) but won”t pay for a pitch worthy of a football club

I think there was a genuine fear that Dack might have in worse shape than he is. Losing Rothwell as well meant it was a reasonable signing but, with hindsight, perhaps a little overpriced given his role now. But if wages are reasonable then it is an ok signing imo

Very professional picture highlighting someone elses sponsor, stadium and someone’s sweaty cap
-
Could it be so stupid that wording was used along the lines of “If BRFC remain in the championship then the deal is off”? Which would explain why the EFL needed to ask the question seeing as nothing would have been presented that covered what happened in the event of relegation this season
-
Being extremely cynical it could be a political move: Rovers give up our share of revenue (more or less) Waggot presents the figures to his boss - see slashing prices costs us a lot The less knowledgeable (our owners) won’t even consider that it is a limited allocation. They will simply see less income case closed for arguments about “filling the stadium”…

JDT speaking about a patient approach tonight pretty much guarantees the result… 🤬 -
I would say that the team has improved but is suffering from not taking chances and feeling the pressure of that. individual players is hard to judge as the same bunch blew hot and cold last season as well. Up until recently a case could be made for the defensive improvement and our effectiveness in taking chances. SG, BB, JV and possibly Dolan/Hedges need to wake up and hopefully Thomas can be a catalyst whilst giving Dack help.

As long as we weren’t playing tippy tappy football and trying hard then apparently quite a few would be happier… yes i am taking the piss but ffs - i dare anyone to say we are underachieving in terms of results this season. People bitching about not being entertained whilst bitching about it being all about results when our head coach talks bollocks replying to a question from the lokal rag.

3) How satisfied were you with the variety of matchday activities? I’m old. Variety of matchday activities?? Unless having a piss, a pie and wondering if i’ve got a chance with the blond are now ”activities” then i genuinely Don’t know what i’m judging as i go for the football… -
JDT is being pilloried for the sins of others but it is his job to know the club he has joined - not least as frontman. If he could just have come out and said - sorry we were gash in the derbies and that is a)on me and b)not ok then it would actually help. That we will lose derbies in the future - no problem. That we aren’t ”up for them” or react quickly when getting outplayed and outbattled is not. Being in or close to the playoffs is exceeding my expectations. 2 defenders signed and players being dropped regardless of who they are also above what has gone on before. Lucky? Yes but that is not a negative…

Southgate will be the next ”technical director” for the FA. Most likely after 2024 or 2026 -

Is it easier and cheaper to handle 17k i wonder…? Looks good on the spreadsheet with a healthy profit per fan. The long term wellbeing of the club and fanbase is apparently not a consideration despite the usual BS at fan meetings 😢
