  1. Spanish Flu started in Feb 1918 and didn't become a mere seasonal illness until April 1920 (after 4 waves). By that timeline we should begin to become free of Covid (aside from seasonal illness) just after this winter, which is rapidly looking very similar to the 4th Spanish Flu wave.
  2. All set up to watch it, and now I've got to watch Chitty Chitty fucking Bang Bang. Cheers Hull! 🤬
  3. Dingle in-laws have joshed with me ever since Little E was born that they'd battle to take him to Turf Moor before Ewood. Their Christmas presents to him were all Rovers goodies with a lovely note from Dingle FIL: 'I took my son to support my club, and I'll never take that chance away from you.'
  4. Splinters in my arse, currently.
  5. I feel like Everton once used it but I'm wondering if I'm getting mixed up with it being a shirt sponsor for somebody.
  6. I thought that about City about 10-12 years ago.
  7. Re: Dolan, that's EXACTLY how we battered Peterborough without even getting past 2nd gear. The first two goals came from relentless badgering of the back four, which just ruined their spirit. It was always Fergie's attacking mantra 'wave after wave'.
  8. They already have: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/london-new-years-eve-trafalgar-square-cancelled-omicron-b1979798.html
  9. And if insults ARE necessary to make your point, it's not worth making.
  10. Unfortunately that would be open to abuse and changing what people are actually saying. We prefer to trust people to put their big boy brains on and leave the ludicrous rubbish out. Easier to hide posts than edit posts. Just make sure your (the royal 'you') post doesn't get hidden by being an adult and, as you say, delete the offensive lines yourself and leave your good bits intact.
  11. Have to say, however, speaking as a deaf man, this series has been one of the most significant events in the Deaf community this century if not ever. A Deaf woman being unable to hear ANYTHING keeps in time to music and dances so well that she wins a significant nationally televised dancing competition judged by world dancing champions and choreographers. I've rarely been so happy about something I wasn't personally involved in. It's up there with Rovers winning the league for me. Absolutely elated.
  12. I think that's who he nicked it off. Similarly had a mantra of keeping it simple. I subscribe.
  13. Exactly the point that both sides of this debate are making.
  14. Like my coach when I was a defender: 'You head the ball and you kick the ball. When you have time with the ball, give to someone who can play.'
  15. Not quite to that extent, just that they don't seem to be open to new ideas for doing it. Aside from Yas' fantastic community work.
  16. Oh definitely, but apparently that's taking a back seat for a bit while the club 'modernises'. For me, modernisation would be having your ST barcode on your phone, and paying it on a rolling basis like a Netflix subscription #RTMarketingProspectus
  17. My understanding of his role is that he's currently undertaking a sort of market research, before really getting into the role proper next year. I'd imagine a lot of it currently is meeting with various parties and working out how he can tally any targets he's being given by the board with the reality of commercial at Rovers. I don't think he has any interest at all in ticket offers, for example, but more how the club can generate income from things like graphics on kids' mobile games, or 'Influencers', and stuff like that. It sounds laughable at first but then, having asked my cousin's and mates, their kids would sooner spend £20 of their pocket money on a blue and white 'skin' for their online racing cars and characters than buy a matchday ticket. If they spend that AND Dad buys them a ticket, that one child has generated 2x income than from pure ticket pricing. It's an interesting area tbh, but not one I can fully relate to. Perhaps my equivalent is making my FB profile picture a Rovers one or something.
  18. Having just spoken to 2 individuals intimately involved at Rovers (both in the youth coaching set-up), and our former fitness coach, I took the opportunity to ask what a 'Low Block' is. All 3 agreed it was 'a bullshit term' for the line of defence; a low block sits back and parks the bus, a high block presses higher up the pitch, and a standard block is a balance between the two. Asked a bit more and 'if you've seen the 'line of engagement' in Football Manager games, it's that. I get the impression that it's more like shorthand rather than new terminology. Is that your understanding of it Joe?
  19. From today we need to avoid Covid unless you you want to spend Christmas not putting our nearest and dearest at risk. 10 days to Christmas. I hope everyone on this board gets to be with their loves ones on the day.
  20. So why is it that 2 coaches and a referee on this forum don't understand them? More to the point, you (defending the terms and claiming to understand them) haven't been able to explain them either.
  21. On the training ground sale and 'land in the Ribble Valley being bought': Might this 'land in the Ribble Valley' be adjacent to the lower site at Brockhall? I was sure I'd seen that land for sale at some point last year, maybe it still was until recently?
  22. Just get another pass on the 8th January 🙂
  23. Argue with me all you like, you'll still need the correct app or a negative LF to get on the ground. I'm just helping you.
  24. Not quite, we appointed a Head of Commercial but he isn't a director to my knowledge.
