  1. I meant really that the promotions and achievements mean he’s done the same as those two managers. I am aware of Hughtons pedigree - I would probably feel exactly the same as you about his potential. Would prefer someone a bit more imaginative however but it’s easy to say, Mark Hughes was the last time we had any luck with a new or less established manager, and I can’t see this ownership vacuum getting any better at making those decisions.
  2. Nyambe isn’t injury prone you say?
  3. You’re more than welcome to that opinion, aka TM not giving a shit but I couldn’t disagree more. I personally think he isn’t good enough to achieve our expectations, not savvy enough, not tactically inept but not creative enough, and unable to consistently motivate a team that’s evidently good enough to finish top 6. As @aletheia eloquently points out - there are ample examples of this team being mismanaged due to poor decisions, but I still find it difficult to see how this falls at the door of effort. Before TM, I remember plenty of occasions where our team simply didn’t give a shit. Hopefully we’re not going back down this avenue!
  4. Ayala has to go down as one of Tony’s biggest ever fuck ups. Biggest wage in the club for someone who has hardly played. On his day, a fantastic defender at this level, but unfortunately someone who picks and chooses his “days”
  5. Nothing to do with effort or trying that though, and whilst I agree that this was stupid decision, it came during a period Dolan, Gallagher, Brereton and Khadra had injuries. Lack of nous, lack of inspiration, lack of ownership support… but effort? Can’t agree. This is part of the reason why I’m not going full “roverandout” in my celebrations on TM leaving. I remember rovers teams in the last 12 years who literally didn’t give a fuck, and certainly didn’t “try”.
  6. Brown, Markanday, Zeefuik and Giles. I genuinely thought they’d bring more at the time but captain hindsight has proven me utterly wrong.
  7. I think whoever sanctioned the Markandy and Zeefuik deals probably thought they’d make a lot more of an impact. Also I don’t recall Bournemouth, Fulham or many of the other teams in the top 6 missing key players (like Mitrovic / Solanke) for huge periods either. None of our issues fall under the remit of “effort” in my humble opinion.
  8. Absolutely - I’m sure there are posters here who remember me suggesting Nyambe will never have the proper technique to be a success back in 2017/18, and I’ve gladly ate my words since. Still - his injury record is appalling, and whilst I’d love him to stay - you almost feel like any manager we have that knows him, may feel they’re limited to 2 subs whenever he’s on the pitch, because there’s a good chance he will struggle to finish the game.
  9. I think the point that Gav makes well, is that it’s difficult to imagine us competing with the type of investments that Bournemouth made - ie Cantwell on £40k a week loan, Nat Phillips, woodman, Laird, Brady on a free and 5m+ on Dembele, Hill and Moore as permanents.
  10. Because you literally said like Luton? Aka a team……………………….. Like Luton? I might be wrong, but I don’t remember them investing in their squad in January. There are plenty of reasons why the *team* didn’t make it this season, but I’d find it hard to blame the teams collective efforts. Now the backroom and those who sanction investment… Can completely understand a finger pointed at them!
  11. Especially when you consider the amount of players who have improved in those years. Surely, at some point, the player has to take some level of responsibility? My lasting memory of Nyambe will probably be the last kick of the Coventry game.
  12. https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/07/11/could-a-portuguese-sports-brand-with-an-interesting-backstory-ma/?amp Perfect for the Rao’s, he can sort the shirts for next season too.
  13. The look on the face of Hedges when BB found the very top corner…. The only time I remember us scoring two like that in a game was Fulham at home way back in the good times.
  14. This gives me a serious bout of anxiety; ”The speed of decision-making remains a concern, and with the new season getting under way on July 30, Rovers have to find a new manager, head of recruitment, head of fitness, front of shirt sponsor, and that’s before we get onto speaking about the playing staff. The team named by Mowbray in his final team selection included no loan players, a starting XI of players under contract for at least next season, and only captain Darragh Lenihan on the bench whose future is uncertain. Every player in the Rovers squad, bar Ryan Nyambe and Lenihan, have either been handed their debuts, or been signed by, Mowbray.”
  15. Google “How FFP works” and then revisit this. @JHRover left Cov in ruins… I guess SISU had nothing to do with it.
  16. And I don’t? Simply because I’m not going to jack it in if someone like Woodgate takes over? Expecting / wanting the club to improve whilst simultaneously taking my voice / money out? They aren’t compatible in my view.
  17. Older fans apparently forgot the gap of decades between top tier appearances!
  18. I’ve never seen attendance as some sort of justification of the decisions at the club, which might explain why I’d be there regardless. I don’t have any preconceived expectations. I’d prefer if it was cheaper but I could say that about my gas bill. I just love watching my home town team. I find it incredible, how I’ve become the minority on a supporters website because of this.
  19. He said he didn’t want to be anything but a manager so I’m not sure why you’d spin a scenario based on nothing but your own assumptions? As @Gavpoints out, he may not have achieved what we would’ve wanted or expected but to declare him “utterly shameless” is the type of hyperbole you only find on BRFCS
  20. You’d stop going if they didn’t hire a manager you rate?
  21. I was reading an archive thread about HSH and I posted this in 2017, and I don’t think anything has changed and I don’t think it’s any more complicated!; “#1 problem since the beginning has been a void in structure and ultimate decision making.”
  22. Ainsworth has become favourite over night, but that’s probably just early bets placed on a new market.
