  1. @JHRover said before, will say it again - any figures are completely anecdotal because neither you or I know what the issue is.
  2. Throwing the kitchen sink at it guarantees nothing, but losing 39m+ over three seasons will guarantee a transfer ban/points deduction. The difference in turnover / income compared to teams with parachute payments make our “kitchen sink” negligible anyway, there’s no way we’re in a position to spend millions and 50pw on someone like Harry Wilson, despite @JHRover’s claims or anyone else’s hopes and dreams. Surely, we all agree that any money like that in our coffers should be prioritised for enabling a wage structure that is enough for the contract “rebels” to renew?
  3. We’re having a go with this squad tbf, and I’d rather us be in a position to improve next season if we aren’t promoted, rather than playing the shit or bust card Someone in S8 should know that 😉
  4. Well we spent 600k or whatever on our first choice left back last January and he didn’t turn out too badly. Or just how expensive is it to assemble a competitive squad in the championship - where teams are spending 2x what we are on wages.
  5. The example above about spending “big” when we got promoted initially, and then made a profit - forgets 12 months or whatever it was without a single ticket sold. I too would be happy seeing that much spent on a couple of players but if it was at the cost of a transfer ban next season, because we finished third and lost in the play off final - Id be gutted!
  6. @arbitro Maybe see what it ends up like rather than get too downbeat now, two new right backs and potentially a replacement from Spurs for Poveda isn’t too bad if nobody is sold @islander200 I can’t see why not expecting a big chunk to be chucked at 5 months of football, is “defending the owners!” Come on.
  7. I also would add to what you say, about this particular article - I’d rather the club played down / kept “cards close to their chests” than boldly announce a target or “war chest”.
  8. I’m sure they’ve been in contact/ discussion for well over twelve months? I also think many would’ve questioned selling any of those 3 in question last January or the summer before that? 12 months ago there was no Armstrong or Plot sale in the bank - how close to sanctions (those apparently I shouldn’t be concerned about) where we? Could we increase the wage bull before these sales or the release of Evans, Bennett etc? If we’re promoted, as many rightly point out, the funds alone would it easier for us to match or top any contract those 3 “rebels” may have been offered elsewhere. Hence why it’s a balancing act.
  9. It’s not a bad mess though is it, third in the league, Dack will be like a new signing. The academy is booming, our squad is chock full with talent from it. The main issues for me are contracts but I still don’t understand the “the club have allowed” to run down comment - the players have to sign. Finally, I was told it was “shit or bust” repeatedly last season so perhaps it’s better not to be presumptuous.
  10. You might be right, and staying away from Desai hasn’t done us any harm seemingly! I may be in the minority but I’d rather we didn’t throw everything at this season, I’d rather we build but stay away from the prospect of sanctions, if that is possible.
  11. No way to run a club is it
  12. How do you come to these assertions? I was under the impression - probably a false one, that Balaji was the main family member involved?
  13. Why you’d simply believe whatever someone surmised on here is equally as baffling? You come up with the most boring pet names for people. Do you realise just how tedious this is? Like I said to BB- I don’t know what they’ve offered, so I’m not basing my opinion on a “generous offer” or a “low ball”. If you both read posts without trying to force an argument, you’d know that. I find it baffling that you’d read a few differing opinions and call it a “campaign to discredit him”, frankly.
  14. If you don’t want a discussion, don’t post opinions. I’ve not made my mind up either, so always open to “persuasion” or having my eyes opened more. I agree to an extent, that there is a propensity for us to be attempting to “low ball” some of these contracts, but I’m not claiming that (or the opposite) as fact. Millers input about academy graduates being on an agreed ladder seems entirely possible as I’ve heard many examples of this in football and other sports in the past. We have no idea what these players are being offered though. Thus any assumption to base an opinion is open to question. As I said, AA was made a “very generous offer” to quote either TM or SW. What makes you so convinced Rothwell, Lenihan and RN haven’t been given similar deals? Have you considered our very top wage is potentially half of what Fulham / Bournemouth can offer? Wouldnt you maximise possible career earnings, as a footballer? I would.
  15. I had no idea that his contract offer was public knowledge? What constitutes a “competitive offer” btw? Do you mean in relation to this division? We can’t offer players the same as anyone on parachute payments. Also RN has 6 months left and has been in discussions for over a year, and AA had 12 months despite (according to TM) being offered a “very generous” deal? Who have we sold with 18 left?
  16. Different coach to one who I spoke to yesterday, suggested that Nyambe had “chucked it in” Friday after training with no issue all week. When I heard the same TM quotes, I also got the impression he was careful about what he said but made no effort to hide what had happened.
  17. “Allowing him to reach the stage of his contract” is a phrase I’ve heard loads recently that makes no sense. The player has to sign the contract. If they’re being advised to keep their options open, how is it the club or manager “allowing” this?
  18. The way in which everyone is connected either by people they know or work with, or in the blink of an eye on social media - I think it’s better to leave names out, of anyone who offers me the odd snippet of what’s going on at Ewood. Or it may be the last! I also take some things with a pinch of salt, because (as you know) most things on players are “subjective” and there is a large grey area.
  19. For a time though, and perhaps even now - players got into academy’s because they had physical attributes like height and strength, which are harder to teach and develop than short passing. Look how many players get released for height then end up with a decent career - Tarkowski from us for one example.
  20. As if I’m going to publicly put a name on here of someone who works in football! I also agreed with that assertion, to an extent - compared to the Nyambe who initially got into the team, he has improved massively however his technical ability is nowhere near someone like Rothwell or Buckley. Physically though, he is probably the strongest in the squad, one of the fastest and probably nearly the fittest. Might also explain why he has regular hamstring pulls, because he plays at full throttle. I would say we missed Pickering just as much at the weekend, but no doubt that would be spun into some “pivot” rather than how much I actually rate both our current fullbacks.
  21. Quote? If not, you seem to know exactly how players think? How do you manage that? I would be gutted if RN leaves but in no way similar to Shearer or Duff. The difference you’ve also ignored is we’re seemingly replaced him before him leaving - isn’t that even worth a mention? Or is it only problems we discuss these days? To quote a coach (who has an A license and a stunning CV, including working for Rovers) who I know “RN is an animal but technically he is limited, I’m surprised he’s made it this far”
  22. @Revidge Blue @JHRover Despite the constant “searching” for mismanagement and randomised criticism, have either of you considered that Nyambe et al; want to leave? The discussions have been going on for the last 18 months too, so I’m not sure either of you understand the complexity- and would rather just speculate that these players have been ignored and offered pittance at the last minute. Why do their advisors get a free pass? Have we forgot what agents did to this club? Even the richest club in the world is potentially losing the most expensive talent in the world for nothing come June.
  23. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/statistik/endendevertraege If this doesn’t link try this; https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/transfer-news/2021/04/out-of-contract-in-2022-best-free-agents-available-on-a-bosman Scary how many players are on short terms across the leagues.
  24. What’s the betting the worst thing happens? JRC and the lad from Drogheda already written off and might as well “let go”?(quote; Sparks) I only want to add that I disagree to both these sweeping criticisms and “we’d never seen anything of” most people we’ve signed, so that as an argument against this Dutch international, to me is just weak.
  25. Key part of thriving is being “the main man” which is impossible if you’re perennially injured and / or playing second fiddle. I still think there is time to improve. Overall, agree on the BB differences part but purposely provoking people? Give me a break pal - it’s not worth my time, and I’m surprised pointing out, that the idea; “negativity” is sometimes detrimental, is so upsetting to you and a few others!
