He loses a lot of aeriel duels against shorter defenders and can't finish at all with his legs. He's also missed a lot of clear-cut chances with his head so I think he can score up to a certain level then it stops completely.

I think that big smile is a bit of a front. He has underperformed even by his own standards and let his teammates and fans down by not training how he should as a professional footballer.

Alebiosu has been our main outlet so far and is sorely missed, so I hope we wait until the summer before letting him go. But (the biggest of ifs) if we can replace him with a fairly solid youngster on loan full of running, and a striker that knows where the net is, then we might not be worse off. They're probably trying to get an auction going for Gueye, with the current highest bidder a lot lower than they had hoped for. Plus goalposts move quickly in the transfer market when you see what other clubs are asking for their players. I think if we're offered £5m for Alebiosu then we'll sell and try another cheap option at RWB plus strengthen the forward line. I don't know the ins and outs of negotiating but I would be pretty annoyed if we end up paying Barnsley what they want. I think most on here agree that we could've spent the £7m we spent on Brereton a lot more wisely than we did. But that was the era of the 'marquee signings', and that era is long gone it seems.

What role does Cantwell play in the team other than slowing things down?

Pears made it difficult for us. Think we were after another dull 0-0 game and onto the next one but the players and manager didn’t show up for this one.

Hopefully he can play out wide on both flanks, fill in as striker/second forward and in the pocket, if needed. Not sure how he’ll fit in our current formation, no.

Quite excited about the prospect of us signing Reyes Cleary. Quick, direct and with good close control - plus there's more potential to unlock and resale value. Hope we spend on a striker as well, we need players in and around the box willing and able to score goals. Think we will probably look at someone who has lost their way a little and wants a move, or could be another loan if the club feels that Joseph (or someone else) are ready for a role in the first team squad from next season.

Cantwell 2/10 for me and that’s being generous. He’s supposed to run the show in games like these. We’re so locked into one formation/system that Henriksson starts upfront, and Ismael waits way to long before making any subs. Bannan again allowed to run the show against us. Thankfully age is starting to catch up to him.

He wins quite a few headers as well, but disappears for long stints as well. Fortunately Ohashi works his socks off for this team or else there's no chance we play two up front.

Would be a huge statement if we tie him up to a new deal.
