  1. Cantwell hasn't performed unfortunately and doesn't seem like an Ismael type of player. If him and Travis leaves then Tronstad will be our enforcer (and hopefully captain, though I doubt it with his contract running out) with Henriksson, Tavares and Baradji (if signed) playing more attacking roles. If we're not selling Tyjon this summer, then I think that means they have big plans for him this coming season.
  2. How did Gestede get the job if he's not well thought of? Difficult to comprehend considering his lack of experience. But isn't he just another puppet acting out the orders of Mr. Suhail Pasha, @glen9mullan? Rovers had a great dressing room 12 months ago. Is that still the case?
  3. That's Travis gone then. Unless he signs a new contract, which I highly doubt. The only one we can afford to let run down his contract is Tronstad, but hoping him and Hyam extends.
  4. Carter never got going and had a poor season overall. Hyam had a very solid season but it's also because we were sat deeper than prior so him and Baatth weren't exposed. A repeat of finishing seventh seems like utopia to me at this stage, but we'll see.
  5. I think we can all agree that Gueye is a pretty poor finisher, at least with his legs. Unplayable on his day but very inconsistent. Ohashi is more consistent but his peak level isn't as high. I think as a pair they're good enough and gives us different options, but we need one more striker I think.
  6. Maybe it's a teaser for next summer's 'It's been 30 years since I left you' anniversary?
  7. Miyoshi would be a great signing, but not at Β£2m. Half of that and it's a deal for me. Has experience in the Championship, hard-working and contributes offensively. Don't think we'll play two Kargbo's at once, so don't mind a more disciplined option on one of the flanks. Do we need a striker as well or can Gueye and Ohashi at least make it until January? And surely we won't sign both Baradji and Miyoshi?
  8. He hasn't been a regular this season, that doesn't sound too promising. But injury concerns, his contract nearing its end, and increased competition in the GAIS midfield were all factors.
  9. de Neve is the type of player you can start away from home when looking to catch teams on the break (not letting them get too comfy and sit high). Also when protecting a lead towards the end of matches or if we face an opposition RW with pace and he needs to help our slower players in Ribeiro and Pickering.
  10. I would imagine that they have consulted an indipendent expert on the field, as well as listening to the experiences the player has had living (and playing) with the condition. We're recruiting from the bargain basement so there's bound to be an issue with every player we sign - not necessarily medically though.
  11. The medical should be extra thorough considering his condition.
  12. Sell Trav for Β£4m, buy Baradji for Β£1.5m and pay off Mafoumbi.
  13. We will have to sign a witch doctor on a pay as you play deal
  14. Normally we would get north of Β£5m for a player like Brittain but with one year left on his contract he's one of the bargains of the summer. Will be difficult to replace, and any replacement will be a downgrade. Wonder where our goals and assists will come from...heavy burdens on the shoulders of Ohashi and Gueye this season. Are they good enough to deliver 10+ goals each?
  15. Yet you're implying that the injury might not exist. Go figure.
  16. We agree that he's not a rare beast, that's why I don't agree that waiting until January is a good option because we definitely need someone in here and now. And the protest part was because you suggested this: "To see if this mystery injury holds up, that's if it actually exists...." I haven't seen Yverdon Sport comment on the injury but I feel fairly confident that they would make a statement if Rovers claims of a hairline fracture indeed were unsubstantiated.
  17. Do you not think his current club would protest if something didn't show up in the medical? And he's probably not an exceptional talent, but someone that fits our profile; cheap quality with potential resale value.
  18. Why would we wait until January? He's playing in the Swiss league and we have two CMs that didn't make it till January 2025 before their bodies broke down, and another two in Tavares and Forshaw who are both entering the new season with injuries. Heart says try and get Baradji in, but head says change targets and bring in someone different. Mannsverk is a good, solid option.
  19. Wharton might excel in friendlies against Accrington Stanley and the likes, but he wasn't good enough to start before his latest injury and most certainly isn't now. He's a good squad player, if he can keep himself fit.
  20. Telalovic was down the list of options and we had tried to sign better strikers all summer before we ended up with him. I suspect we're about to experience a bit of the same this summer.
  21. Another BBD scenario. They'll ship him back to England for a profit within the next 12 months.
  22. When our workhorses went missing through injury we couldn't hold it together any longer. Travis, Tronstad and Ohashi, plus Brittain, do a tremendous amount of running, and are all integral to the team. Gueye works hard but with his big physique he can't move around as well as Ohashi and he doesn't always apply it in the best way; makes silly fouls and isn't as tactically aware in the pressing.
  23. I’m not. He’s on hefty wages and did not perform under Eustace while they both were here.
