  1. 24th October Scott. Any other dates you need while I'm on?
  2. It was probably the Manchester accent. Was he also wearing a sheepskin coat?
  3. Could have read `hopping` for a bumper crowd-inspired by the late Roy Castle, the Rovers board and staff are attempting to break the world record of standing hops, with the intention of inspring the stay-a-way Ewood no shows to come down and watch the over paid nancy boys once again fold to an early exit in Europe. The record is currently held by the Middlesbrough board, who managed 332 before their recent EUFA cup semi final which pulled in well over 10,000 smoggies.
  4. I sang Sha-Bani-Nonda to the tune of La Bamba for around 1 hour, intermittently on Saturday night. (As in the bit in the song that goes Ba, Ba Bamba)
  5. Rovers have never won a game in the EUFA cup. We certainly have come close; including the memorable 3-3 in Sofia, after Tommo, Ostenstad and Duffer put us 3 up a couple of years ago. And at Celtic park, in the very net round we totally battered the hoops for 85 minutes, playing the best football of the Souness regime, only to suffer a late Larsson winner. These were only the latest installments of a fairly pathetic run of games in this competition, which started in our title season with a game against Swedish minnows Trelleborgs. A 0-1 home defeat in the first leg, despite once again dominating the game, Rovers were apparently home and hosed in the second leg at 2-1 up until they scored another late equalizer to go through 3-2 on aggregate. Then more heroics in Lyon followed, but again they were ultimately in vain as 2-2 was just enough for the French to progress. Some links here for the matches lost! Trelleborg Lyon CSKA Sofia Home CSKA Sofia Away Celtic Away Amusing jock Banter Genc...Away. Personally, I feel if we go through this tie and into the group stages, with our two match back-to back Premiership wins the season really starts to take some kind of shape and Blackburn look well placed to make it a season to remember. Rovers 1-0 RB Salzburg[/url]
  6. The Boro fans rather dimsmissive of our travelling army here.
  7. From FMTTM, Boro fanzine. "For the second time in a week an away side has come here and thoroughly deserved their win." "Blackburn beat us 3 times last season and once again they seem to have our measure. This time the constant irritant that is Robbie Savage sapped and snapped the lifeblood from our midfield."
  8. I have now got two results spot on in 6 games. I feel a Grooby coming on. But that could be my weirdo cat. Great header by Help Me Nonda, superb. Happy man tonight!
  9. Three years ago Macarthy and Nonda upfront would have had most of Europe worried. Worries me now! Boro 0 Rovers 1 :-)
  10. Anyone notice Hotmail changed? All day mine has stopped showing the number of unread messages in brackets.
  11. Reading seem to think they wont be having AN Old Gate Debate anytime soon
  12. Here he is! With Beeky, some bird and Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
  13. From the pile labelled NO I HAVEN'T GOT ANYTHING BETTER TO DO!
  14. Oh yea Brazil bears an uncanny likeness to 1864Roverite too. 'cept 1864 drinks more than Brazil.
  15. My bathroom radio only has AM on it now, so listened to TalkSPORT this morning in the bath-was it me or was Alan Brazil quite drunk while doing his `show` today?
  16. Ask Cocker-he loves this stuff My Megadrive is permanantly installed onto my bedroom telly, most weekends when the breadknife is cooking, cleaning, washing ironing I play Sensible Soccer in my pyjamas. Every so often I bang on the floor, which means BRING MORE TEA UP. And PGA Tour Golf, NHLPA Hockey-they're ace too.
  17. He always was a dirty git.
  18. Number nine for City today.... Good in the air?
  19. 1864-you are on picture 16 on SAS photos! And Birdy on number 28!
  20. If I could be arsed, I would go up into the loft and get my 1985 scrapbook out.(Sorry Bob F.) Maybe next week. However, I remember that season when we ultimately missed out on promotion (Some wags used to refer to it as our annual fight against promotion) , the home game with City was a major turning point. It was around March time, and came fairly soon after our home defeat on a Friday night FA cup match to Man Utd (0-2). Our form was begining to wobble (as usual) and City were amongst our main promotion rivals, along with Portsmouth and Oxford I think. Me and a couple of City fans were in the Wine Lodge at midday, supping like camels and became pished fairly quickly. Then the seemingly monster walk to Ewood, (my legs were only little then) completed, I went into the Blackburn End with my bus ticket-style season ticket and was amazed to find the gound virtually empty. Then I realsied that my watch was wrong and it was ten to two, not tento three. So I spent the time waiting for the kick off by climbing on the railings and shouting anti-City chants to my mate(Beefy) in the Darwen End, who of course yelled his back. After about 5 minutes of this hilarious exchange, a steward advised me to desist or face being lobbed out of the ground. So I just sat on the BBE terrace for an hour reading my program front toback 7 times, (They weren't very big then). The game started, but I find it impossible to remember the details, other the Steve Kinsey tapping in a rebound off Gennoes legs at the near post in the BBE. Cue sporadic fighting around the ground, including the Riverside and the bottom of the BBE near me. After the game, as I walked over to Livesey Branch Road to get on my Tom Jackson coach back to Chorley, a wave of mental City fans, all of whom wore big sheepskin coats came running and attacking Rovers fans. I legged it into the WMC club and hid for 10 for minutes round the back until they had all gone! Ironically, 20 odd years later, the thing I remember most was the attendance! The ground was absolutely rammed full, the capacity was around 30,000 then and they printed it as 22,000. (Cue everyone saying TAX DODGE!) More senile ramblings to follow through the season as I eventually find my scrapbook. As for Saturday, revenge will be in the air, as Rovers will win 2-1
  21. I watched an hour of Eurosport UK from ten last night assuming that they would show at least Rovers goals. Alas no. I am not interested in bit torrents or SamTorrance or other hi-tec mediums, I just would like to see my teams goals on my telly. In a era when the whole country agrees that there is wall to wall satuarated football on telly, why can I not see last nights. As an aside, Norwegian members, how come there were only about 100 people on the IK Start v Ajax game?
  22. I can't beleive how bad I feel after Rovers got a very good result in Salzburg. 2-2 and I'm gutted. These lot are no mugs, and yet we should have beaten them! Rovers are back!
  23. Is it on telly at all?
