  1. Have to admit I'm impressed with PNE listening to the Fans and accommodating the Fans wishes.
  2. I have fallen for that trick a few times. Stats comparison is meaningless unless contestants are playing against each other in the same competition or league, When women play men at the same sport then fair enough. Having said that I'm enjoying and impressed with WWC 2019
  3. I recall reading that when it was published. I've now bookmarked it to revisit after this window and see how Tony the Builder is getting on. I doubt that the footings will be done, hoping to be wrong.
  4. I know where you are coming from. Mowbray plays his audience well and should be already on the after-dinner speech circuit. He tells people what they want to hear, always works.
  5. I for one am 100% confident it is not true. Like those who say it is I have no proof to support my opinion, just logic and common sense and no interest in futile brainwashing tactics,
  6. Keys of the City was a classic though. You've been to Preston? maybe when Tony lets you out of the office
  7. He was better there. I don't think he wanted a position that involves a lot of running or tackling although he can pass a ball. Indeed I don't think he fancies the 'physical' side of the game too much, which makes CB an odd choice
  8. When we signed him I had high hopes that Rodwell still wanted to play and would seize the chance at Rovers to resurrect his career. It turned out to be yet another experiment to convert a player into something else, which Rodwell apparently also wanted to do. It failed and I'm surprised he was offered any further deal. I will not be upset to see him move on.
  9. I see Bauer has gone from being a rated Rovers target to being a League 1 plodder and whore who's sold himself down the road for a 'guaranteed' place and the City Keys. I will content myself with assuming that we do actually have other targets.
  10. Doesn't matter what age players are if they are not fit for purpose and can't do 90 minutes, that's down to the manager and his coaching /fitness staff. Downing is noted for being fit and Tony Pulis on record as saying post-match stats showed him as one of the top performers in distance covered. I have warmed a bit to his signing but he won't be surging past defenders to put crosses over so expect them from deeper and corners and freekicks. Mowbray likes to protect his own deficiency in building a strong defence by favouring midfielders of a defensive nature, Downing may not be suited to that.
  11. Between the end of the last season and the Pune trip, Mowbray was on about getting Championship ready signings in and that some players already at Rovers would be told to expected limited playing opportunities and would have to make career decisions to make on whether to stay to fight for a place or move on. This appeared to include a number of players who he had given extended contracts to earlier in the season. His narrative changes so often he should avoid the media or use a PR person to vet his ramblings so as to stop his David Campese impersonations.
  12. I hope Mowbray scouts this game, cheaper than a caravan around Europe: Morocco v Namibia, Africa Cup of Nations 2019 Group Stage, 15:30 UK time, Eurosport 2
  13. At Brentford, Bennett had his arse ripped numerous times. Completely pathetic performance as are Mowbray's comments of Bennett as a classic utility player. He is shit everywhere.
  14. Total honesty from Square Peg Mowbray: "People have learnt over the last few years that I like players with the ability to play in different positions - Elliott Bennett being a classic case at the moment.
  15. ''He has us forgetting the owners and those problems. For the first time in years'' Count me out of that ''opinion''.
  16. FRIENDS REUNITED, someone at Rovers PR/IT dept has a sense of humour https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2019/june/friends-reunited/
  17. We don't get him and he becomes a 3rd or 4th choice CB. Yeah ok. Maybe Sharpe can play as he's provided excellent defensive cover-up here
  18. in 40 appearances last season Downing averaged 1.2 shots per game, 1.7 crosses per game and 1.5 key passes per game and was involved in 3 goals. His pass success rate was 82%, and it was mostly midfield style sideways / backwards. Travel with the ball, in your dreams Tony. More horseshit from an expert.
  19. Another start at Boro would have given Downing a year extension plus a pay rise.
  20. Is Chapman the one who is never fit, so we bought him.
  21. The Ladies preseason fixtures are impressive with 3 WSL opponents included https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2019/june/ladies-pre-season-schedule-confirmed/
  22. Does Tony drive a Ford Expedition EL or similar? Still, if it saves on budget cost, so not all bad. From the little I saw of Downing last season he had completely lost the pace to run past players, played more in midfield with lots of sideways/backwards passing and not in a creative sense. Nondescript at best. Still about ok at freekicks. I wish him well, for our sake, not his and not Mowbrays.
  23. Yes, Tony needs a fresh set of ears in the dressing room, and a Boro Boy to boot.
