v Luton Town (a) - 17/9/22

if we aren’t going to change formation after 70 minutes of that shite when are we going to change formation? Therefore, why put him on the bench? -

So why put him on the bench? What circumstance is he going to come on? Dack showed against Blackpool he still is very effective and yet he played 45 more minutes and then has not featured since. JDT is expressing stubbornness here. -

I was frustrated as hell yesterday. It's not because we lost. Your second sentence is bang on. What frustrated and worries me is the fact we are playing the same way in the 89th minute as we were in the 5th minute and it simply wasn't working. In fact it was completely detrimental to us the number of times we gave the ball away in our own final 3rd. Regardless of long term visions and projects, you would hope a manager would be able to say to Kaminsky stop trying to play it out short. It's simply not working and putting us under pressure. -

Its obviously JDT doesn't fancy Dack. A good performance and great assist against Blackpool is now largely forgotten. What worries me is the insistence to play out from the back requires a certain style of player. Brittain looks like he may fit into this mould, but I've not seen much in Szmodics and HIrst yet to think they are the quality of player who can implement championship tikka takka. Dack and Buckley do fit into this mould, but were benched. -

If ‘the project’ is slow passing between keeper and back 5 when we need 2 goals then I’m out. If we are going to play like shitty 5 yards passes from back to from then put Buckley and Dack I’m as they are the only two in the squad who can technically do that. WTf is Dack even on the bench, what circumstance is he going to get on if it’s not today after that performance. As for Hirst, let’s hope that’s not his “Tom Lawrence” moment and that he’s remembered for more than that. Shockingly bad finish. -

I gave a bit of slack for tippy tappy nonsense against Stoke, but to repeat it here again shows JDT is just stupidly stubborn. This second half we've invited tons of pressure by playing pointless short balls from keeper to centre halves. If that's "the project" then fuck me. As punchless an away performance as I can remember for a long while (I've ignored shedf utd like it didn't happen). Worrying. -
v Watford (h) - 13/9/22 (possibly)…
Hasta replied to rigger's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
They gave it as offside. When the Watford players started questioning, the linesman gave the "he was offside and ran back onside" gesture. I've paused it frame by frame and he is stood offside as the ball is coming in, but the defender clearly goes back and plays him on as the ball is played. I'll definitely take it after some of the stuff we have had go against us previously. At the time I thought maybe Hyam when he scored was offside as he was well advanced of the back line when he did his scorpion kick, but he was clearly on looking at the replay. -

Spoke to a portly journalist about this weekends matches. The games will probably be called off on Saturday although they may go ahead. Bit in paper. -

Both United and West Ham say tonight’s games will go ahead “following direction from the FA and UEFA.’” Not sure that sets any precedent as it’s so close to kick off. Doncaster racecourse’s St Leger meeting cancelled tomorrow and an announcement about Saturday will be made tomorrow. -
Waggots probably ordering them for the first team as we speak.

Anywhere in the twenties I accept as the current rate. Once it’s over £30 I start to think it’s too expensive. -

Maybe. Maybe not. But with 3 defenders available who could have tried full back (including 1 that has already covered there previously), Travis wasn’t picked there out of necessity. That’s the point. It happened. It doesn’t bother me. We’ve learnt he can seriously struggle defensively. If we now ended up with him playing more games there, instead of exploring other options, that would annoy me, -

Not really. Carter has already played there under JDT. I guarantee he knows how to defend that situation as a full back better for the first goal than Travis did Despite what Chaddy says, there were enough warning signs at Blackpool about Travis. The Match Centre ratings from Bloomfield Rd showed that. -

Buckley isn't a right back. They'd have got more than they did. Which is obviously subjective but that's what you just threw at my changes. Either way, the whole performance was abject and didn't improve at all. The fact we still scored twice makes me wonder what would have happened had we been able to have a spell of sustained pressure. -

I was happy at the start of the game at the lineup. But in the second half when we were 2-0 down I’d have either gone 3 at the back and pushed Edun / Dolan as left and right midfielders. Or I’d have put Edun left and chanced BB centrally. Anything but the status quo we had watched. If the day after the transfer window ends, and with 4 of our summer signings in the team or on the bench, we can’t change something system-wise then we’ve got problems, -

I don’t disagree. But after 70 minutes when we are 2-0 down and he has hardly had a kick, and those playing through the centre have done nothing either, surely it’s worth taking a chance and changing it. -

It should have gone back to front into feet a lot quicker. Nobody took the responsibility to move it forward. Brereton should have been central from the start of the second half as he was completely ineffective so wide. Changing the personnel but doing the same think was very poor from those on touchline. Hopefully when they realise the quality and the strengths of the players they are working with they will learn? -

They’ll get time and patience from the fans unless it starts going seriously backward. Most people do at Ewood. The previous TM ‘project’ failed so spectacularly when you think about it. Waggot should have sacked Mowbray at least 12 months earlier which may have not put us in the situation of losing the 3 we lost over the summer, and the impending Brereton situation. It’s like everything we tried to build just came apart at the end with those people able to leave for free and it has put us severely backward. @J*Bis touting the opinion we should have sold BB and invested in the rebuild. JDT more or less said come and get him after the Blackpool game. Now as a fan who just want to see us win games I’m happy he is still here. But who put the value on him I wonder? If GB said £20 million or he’s not going then fine. In his role that’s his prerogative. But if Venkys set the value as we are led to believe from certain sources including Alan Myers, and GB has no say in whether we should accept lower, then ultimately Venkys ‘project’ will outrank GB and JDT’s. What I will judge the current footballing leaders on is their transfers, and at the moment I’m not convinced. -

Under Mowbray we complained about unbeaten runs followed by death spirals. I think we are literally going to be Jekyll and Hyde every week till JDT can get a better handle on things. I feel we will be the kind of team that could easily beat Lose at Wigan then somehow turn it on to beat Watford. What worried me more yesterday was the tippy tippy, don’t launch it strategy that we were still employing in the 87th minute when it clearly wasn’t going to work. -

I’d be accepting of 60+ points as a basis to work on. I’d only be happy with top 6. The ‘project’ is ultimately controlled by Venkys and Waggot. As much as JDT can say we are at the start of his journey, the fans are 12 years into the Venky ‘project’ and almost 5 years into Waggot being onboard. -

That’s 4 points every 5 games. That equates to 37 points over the course of the season. Relegation form. And your happy with that? 😯
