I've backed Big Fella Thanks, Can't buy Time and Offshore Account all E/W Going to back Kilbeggan Blade today. If you're having a bet each way check which bookies are paying out on fifth place instead of the usual just 4. National odds Good luck. -

I've backed Big Fella Thanks E/W at 25/1 after it ran last time. However the form of that run was let down several times at Cheltenham last week. I've also backed Cant Buy Time at 240 on Betfair. Probably won't run but would be interesting if he did. -

About 15 pints of Guiness on Thursday! Thursday was great as it was quite quiet and you could get around easily. Friday was a bit too busy as ever but a great atmosphere for the Gold Cup. Didn't have a winner at all Thursday but had Weapons Amnesty and Oh Crick on Friday. Still lost quite a bit overall but it's still easily one of the best weeks of the year. -

Big thanks to Abbey for the above post nearly 12 months ago. I did try them, liked them and saw them at Manchester Academy last Saturday where they were very good. -
I see Paul Newman has died. Quality actor in many many films. The Sting is a big favourite of mine.

Hughes persevered for over 18 months with Pedersen doing very little. I wonder if Ince will continue to make the same mistake. He was awful yesterday regardless of position. No pace and no willingness to try and do anything to influence the play going forward. He has no ambition when approaching a full back to actually go past him on the outside to put a cross in. However he's been ineffective on the left for years also. His corners and free-kicks, which once were a weapon, are no longer producing. He still seems reluctant to get into positions to have efforts on goal, let alone be scoring at the rate he did in his first season. Treacy offered more drive going forward than MGP ever has yesterday. The young lad is still learning but I feel it's time to let him have a spell in the team. He might not be great but he doesn't have much to be greater than. Andrews is getting stick for his performance yesterday on the other thread, but he looked like a cross between Keane, Viera and Maradona compared to our 'Norweigan Beckham'.

Following its recomendations n the 'best Movie of all time' thread I've just rented and watched Crimson Tide. Excellent. Great build up of tension.

[Archived] Benni Mccarthy - Gone

To be fair Ince was unlikely to come out and say "Benni's struggling for form, fitness and to lose the excess weight he's piled on so we're hoping Sunderland come in with a ridiculous bid to shift the lardarse out of here". -

I know I've posted them several times before but it is that time of year. Thanks Jack!

I have to agree. Since he arrived he's done nothing to impress us Rovers fans. In fact it's an embarrassment having him around. Every time he opens his mouth I cringe and wish we were listening to someone more professional. Someone with more intelligence even. If I had my way, and I know others might disagree, I'd rather he went now and was never heard of again. And no, I'm not talking about Ince.

Your correct trueblue. Sorry. We should have done it all in song format. As I'm at work and there's little doing here goes. BLACKBURN ROVERS - Bohemian Rhapsody style. Is this the real life, Is this just fantasy, Played one pre-season game, Flintoff wants him out of here Open your eyes, Look who he's signed and see We're just a poor team, we need some sympathy, Our players are easy come, easy go, We finish high, we finish low, Until December when the wind blows, pre-season doesnt seem to matter to me to me, to me. Bentley, just went to spurs, Put a gun against Ince's head, now fans want the Guvnor dead. Pre-season, had just begun, And now Friedels gone and thrown his legacy away. Roquee, ooooohh He'll leave if his brothers not here this time tomorow, I could carry on, carry on, we might be signing Andrews. Too late, kick off time has come, Carlos sends shivers down our spine, His runs are twisting all the time. Goodbye Bentley, you had to go, This Chillean is better than you and thats the truth. Guvnor ooooh, We don't want you to die, We wish those who do had never been born at all. I see a little sihouetto of a man, Keith Andrews, Keiths Andrews, if he signs then will you still go, He shoots like thunderbolts and lightening, but he's very very frightening me. Nicoli Zigic, Nicoli Zigic, Nicoli Zigic - magnifico. We're just a poor club nobody loves us, We're just a poor club owned by no rich family, But we still make sure our entrance fee is no monstrosity. Hughes was easy come, easy go, would we let him, Frank Sinatra no we will not let him go - let him go Frank Sinatra we will not let him go - let him go Frank Sinatra we will not let him go - let him go No no no no no no no, Frank Sinatra, Frank Sinatra, oh stuff we let him go, Now Milton Keynes has the devil put aside for me, for me, for me, So you think we will go down it's only July, So you'd rather have Fat Sam hoofing the ball high, Oh JW, cant do this to me JW, you've just gotta get out, just gotta get right out of here. Pre-season doesnt matter, anyone can see, pre-season doesnt matter to me, Until December when the wind blows....l

Then they are probably the most idiotic people around who follow Rovers. Don't you agree?

When playing Villa. "Here for the money"

The 'No Country / There Will Be Blood' debate is interesting. I've just added 'There Will be Blood' to the top of my rental list. I'll tell you if it's any good or not. My Decision is Final !
-
Now I don't fancy that. Certainly not as much as No Country for Old Men. I presume your recommending it?
-
This is true in a lot of cases. Only The Departed and the excellent Pans Labyrinth spring to mind as films I was expecting great things from and delivered in recent years.
-
Bit behind the times but watched No Country for Old Men at the weekend and was a bit disappointed. It was a case of all the hype coming from it leading me to expect too much. It's not a bad film but, as everyone raved about it at the time, you just expect more. If I'd never heard of it and just watched it out the blue it would probably have been quite enjoyable. As it was I just kept waiting for it to take off and it never did.

Joey Barton Speaks out:- "The first day's the toughest, no doubt about it. They march you in, hand you your uniform and force you to pose for the photographer while loads of fat, tattooed, skinheads shout abuse at you. That's when you know it's for real. A whole life blown away in the blink of an eye. Nothing left but all the time in the world to think about it. That's when it hits home. That's when you realise you've signed for Newcastle."

I think Wade bottled it again tonight. He was playing his A game early on ond was leading. However he seemed to get a little bit miffed with the crowd and, as soon as Taylor went in front, the self belief went from him. He won only 1 of the last 11 or so legs. Obviously a great player but needs to mentally toughen up a bit against The Power.
-
Fair enough. I've never met him it was just how he seems to come across on camera. He's almost too confident of himself and has been making sure in every interview that people know he's the defending champion. If he plays tonight like he started against Mardle it should be a good final. However one of the reasons that Taylor has been so succesful down the years is because a lot of the opposition players bottle it and are beat before they get on stage. People like Part and Barney managed to lose that mentality. On past meeting I'm not sure whether Wade has. He's never played as good against Taylor as he has when hammering other players. We'll see tonight.
