  1. I'm still confident we'll beat the drop but accept that after the next 4 games we could be in or around the relegation zone. However I've been through the fixtgure lists and have identified late April as being crucial (yes I know thats bleeding obvious). We play Palace at home on Wednesday the 20th April. Then our next three games are City (H), Birmingham (A), Fulham (H) whilst Crystal Palace face Liverpool (H) , Newcastle (A) and then Southampton (H). Keeping in mind that before we even play Palace we face Southampton (H) and West Brom (A) then if we go down it really would be a disaster.
  2. There's some twaddle appearing on here. I'm not going to write a response to everything that I find laughable but a couple of quick of my viewpoints. As someone said regarding the postal order incident - if it kicked off with bottles and stools flying over innocent drinkers. On a normal friday night the culprits probably wouldn't have got a custodial sentance. They should do though. The fault is that the law is too soft on those on a Friday night kicking off - NOT that they are too hard on those kicking off loosely in the name of football. So it costs a ridiculous amount of money to police football matches. The alternative is to give in and let all these idiots run free (and if that happened a lot more would come out of the woodwork). I've never been close to the ground and seen any major trouble for a long while. I don't think for one minute this is because hooligans 'fight away from the ground'. It's because the matches are well policed and they can't get away with it near the ground. Agree with Tris over the Rugby thing though. They should get hit hard. I've been to Haydock before now and seen about 15 scousers kicking off behind the stand. This isn't Horse Racing holliganism. It's people getting lashed up and kicking off.
  3. He's been sniffing around trying to get the discussion going in this direction whilst trying to keep respectable. Although he despises violence he's all too keen to comment on it and what 'allegedly happened'. OrigLongisder - theres plenty of other forums full of mindless, lying scum around on the internet. Why not go join one of them and leave this thread to get back to talking about how poor we played during the defeat of our local mid championship dwelling rivals.
  4. Stephen Reid only played about 15 minutes across the two games. He looked direct and lively last night which is something that no other midfielder had managed to do and he set up the goal with a surge over the halfway line. He also managed to chase a dingle off the pitch at Turf moor whilst the police and stewards just watched. Not a bad cameo appearance!
  5. It just shows how the accoustics can sound differently. Sat in the Blackburn End for the first half and I seriously couldn't hear anything from the Darwen End until they scored. I couldn't beleive they were so quiet. Yet all the Clarets at work (and on the t'inter) think we supplied no atmosphere. Strange !! Back to the game and the statistics confirmed what I thought. Burnley defended well but didn't play well. They were just relying on our punchless strikeforce not being able to score. Unfortunately, and as Liverpool found to their cost last Sunday, if you allow teams loads of possession - even when it's outside the box - and don't relieve that pressure eventually something will fall for the other team. This happened twice last night. I have to say that although I was beginning to get concerned about penalties I didn't really think we'd ever get beat last night. Cardiff looked a far better attacking side. Before the tie I was a bit concerned with about how good we actually were and how good Burnley were. Now I've seen both games I know that the worry was unfounded.
  6. Middle block lower tier BBE. That was by far the best atmosphere since VE day. Electric. There was a spell in the 2nd half were we couldnt pass to our own men where we went quiet but apart from that superb. We played poor but look at the match stats. We deserved to win.
  7. Just drove through Ewood. Uncle Jacks is currently the only pub openly open.
  8. I think Hughes was indeed more upset with the speed the stewards / police reacted at once the idiots had ran on the pitch. However Longsider has a point that, rather like Bruce in the Yorke race row, Hughes could have let the dust settle instead of airing grievences like that straight after the game which could have repurcussions on Burnley. (Not that I'd be THAT bothered about that mind you. Celtic game was a European game which means legally no alcohol. There's not a chance that the home fans will be kept behind. None - zero - zip.
  9. Maybe Radio Lancs can't broadcast Premier League games online due to FA copyrights etc... but are OK for the FA Cup.
  10. Worryingly i've heard off one of the interbreds that that is the case! Don't worry LATD. It's a good old fashioned snowballing football myth. Every Burnley fan at Deepdale probably heard this and now takes it as gospel. We'll probably never know for sure cos they might not score. The things I have to do for you superstitous lot
  11. Tonights Lancashire Evening Telegraph says many pubs and off licences around Ewood, including the Fernhurst, have decided not to open following police advice. Does anyone have an answer on whether the Ewood Arms is open beforehand? Don't want to go up to the Waters Edge. Too many bad memories of Thursday nights up there then on to Suttys
  12. PMSL - Didn't realise they let schoolkids on the computers at lunchtime these days.
  13. With the Celtic game there were probably a few Celtic fans who live down here and at some point had gone to a Rovers game and ended up on the database.
  14. If the bottom 4 rows are all empty and covered in netting it makes it pretty difficult for anyone to get on the pitch. A couple of coppers at the bottom of each row of steps and there's no way through. It's also easier to spot anyone trying. Now if you've got fans on the front rows they can get straight on the pitch. After what happened last Sunday I'd say a pitch invader is highly likely after a full day of ale. It's not rocket science
  15. Anyone out around Ewood over the weekend (including up Livesey) get asking the landlords etc... on plans for Tuesday.
  16. If there's 3000 tickets left on Sunday and no queues at Ewood will you accept its the apathy and general lack of interest of our 'fans' or will you try to spin the yarn that everyone got fed up with the situation during the week and had lost all interest / refused to go on Sunday??
  17. And thus in one post all Jim's remaining credibility on this issue vanishes
  18. Postal application is exactly what I'll be doing next time. Unfortunately I didn't realise how big the problem would be till yesterday afternoon. Still, we live and learn.
  19. But Season Ticket holders do have a right to them. The problem is that in order to get them I've had to take basically 2.5 hours off work which for some people may not be achievable. Had I not been allowed this time off then I wouldn't have been able to have my seat and had to rely on still being avaiable on Saturday. Doesn't matter now though as i nipped out just before 11am. 1hr queue. Get in
  20. Queue reports from Ewood this morning would be much appreciated !!
  21. Just read through the ClaretsMad thread re tickets and them questioning the segregation. To clear something up if you remember in 2000 they had 5,500 tickets with the front rows of the bottom tier blocked off with netting and also netting up the side. All Rovers have done now is move the 'side' segregation from the Darwen End to the home areas. Obviously Rovers or the police want to keep distance between the two sets of supporters at Ewood. The Burnley fans should be grateful it's been done this way round this time so they've got the extra 1,500 tickets in their end. If it's a sellout both ends it's us that lose out. I know this should be on their board but I really can't be bothered registering and I'm sure one of our registered or un-registered 'guests' will pick up on it.
  22. Sorry Tris mate but you're talking a bit of claret. I didnt get the cup scheme because I miss a few games every season due to work. I've missed the first game this year (WBA) and about 5 last year and also have to bend work commitments to make several others. I didn't see the point in getting the scheme when I might not be able to make every game. No the package through the post to tempt you to be a season ticket holder quite clearly stated that we'd get preference over non season ticket holders for cup games. That was a perk of my guaranteed money up front. Tonight that doesn't feel like the case. However.. .... I agree that the ticket office can't be expected top cope with demand on current staffing levels and can't comment on the practicalities in terms of money, staff etc... to increase the people working in there at short notice. As I've mentioned I'm just going to have to try my best and sort this out one way or the other. I only live and work a few miles from Ewood. What if I lived further away? I don't want your sympathy but a bit of understanding wouldn't go amiss.
  23. Just to correct you Clitheroe-Claret the resaon there's only around 7000 seats available in the Darwen End is because the bottom 7 rows are covered with netting presumably to stop pitch invasions. The extra segregation areas are the Darwen End side of the Riverside and JW stands to the side of the pitch. I would presume the reason for this is to stop coins etc.. being lobbed across into them areas. There is not a cat in hells chance that these seats would be sold to Burnley fans.
  24. Cough. Hmm, T'internet is the only way, cough, I can see that this would have been resolved easier. Cough splutter. Bit late for the Burnley game though.. Cough Cough I can feel a Sicky coming on tommorow. ah, ah, aahhhchooooooo
