  1. Had they lost in the play offs (think of the luck they had with penalties not given) then they would have been gutted about that slow start.
  2. You are therefore arguing that:- Brittain is better than Nyambe Wharton is better than Lenihan 31 year old Ayala hasn’t regressed And then either Hedges or Markanday is instantly better than Rothwell. Which I doubt most people agree with. I think the worry is two of our better players during our good run last year have returned to their parent clubs, and that is a lot of quality we need to find on top of replacing Lenihan and Rothwell.
  3. Last year Burnley got only 3 points from their opening 7 fixtures. They went down with 35 points, just 3 short of safety. I’d say the first 7 games defined their season. Its right not to make knee-jerk decisions just to get players in before the start of the season. But with 21 points up for grabs before the window shuts that could easily have a big influence come May.
  4. If we get an FA Cup game on a Saturday make kids free with a paying adult 🤷‍♂️
  5. Hopefully their keeper throws one in like he did for Khedra’s free kick last year. That was looking destined for 0-0 up until that point.
  6. I may have a second stab at this at the end of August. But as we stand today. 1 Rovers will finish 12th 2 Kaminsky 3 I think Phillips will get game time and do well, if only to increase his tribunal fee. 4 Sheff United 5 4th
  7. Best chance of getting Van Hecke back would be a loan deal right at the end of the window. If he’s not been sold and unlikely to play then they may as well loan him out again.
  8. Very interesting, thanks Glen. My biggest irk with Waggot is the policy which seems to be extract more money from the loyal fans than try and encourage more fans or revenue elsewhere. The ridiculous rise on ticket prices over the last 3 seasons as an example (especially the jump in Riverside pricing - I can't remember the percentage). One point - surely LT knows Glen's history. If she was asked to attend the meeting in advance you'd think she would have pre-warned SW about the clubs previous contact and history with him.
  9. I’d suspect generally the majority viewpoint is the correct one.
  10. Lol. It was. But it’s worrying that so many people seem to think that way that it’s plausible to be a genuine opinion!
  11. It’s ok because the transfer window doesn’t end until the end of August. Therefore we’ve got all those games in August to see which players fit into what formation, and how they respond to JDT’s tactics and formation. I believe that first 15% of the season isn’t as important as the rest of the season.
  12. We will still make XI changes in the League Cup. At least Dack should be getting a full game there.
  13. Nah it’s pretty split on here with probably more people saying we should have kept Nyambe. It’s the other way regarding Brittain on their forum. Maybe they are just a bit more bitter on there than we are on here.
  14. Have to admit I’ve just read the Barnsley forum thread on him and it’s not quite what I was expecting based on the positive reaction on here.
  15. He's top of the 'least times skinned one on one' graphic. You know. The one you want your full back to be included in.
  16. I’m fairly sure they’d have promoted DJ or brought in a stooge rather than JDT (who won’t be the cheapest option) and another meaty wage on a DOF. On Nyambe, I just think Mowbray didn’t rate him highly enough so him and Waggot offered a miserly increase. Decision was made before JDT and co. came in. I think it’s just bad player judgement, stubbornness and personal grudges rather than being unable to match what someone like Wigan would offer. Cheers Tony.
  17. In the last 6 years we haven't managed to sign a better (fit) centre half than Lenihan or even Wharton. It remains to be seen if we can improve on Nyambe. Travis is better than your Smallwood's and your Bradley Johnsons that we have taken on. Buckley has Dack as a comparison, but the plethora of other creative lightweight midfielders we have brought in (some on loan) havent amounted to much. Had we not had the academy, we would have saved £30m. But that £30m spent on the academy is FFP-exempt, so we wouldn't have been able to spend that on players anyway if we are close to breaking point. However the sale of Raya and any others not only brings the cost of the academy down over that 10 year period, but also can be used alleviate the FFP burden. Therefore I think the academy is worthwhile with the rules restricting us being able to throw an extra £3m a year at the team. I'm also not convinced that our recent 'employees' would have been able to find better than Buckley, Travis, Nyambe, Lenihan and Wharton for that money anyway.
  18. The only reason we managed to bring Ayala in was because he is never fit. Since relegation to L1 we haven’t brought a defender in permanently who has been a regular first choice in our starting eleven. So why we are suddenly going to be able to upgrade Lenihan easily I don’t know.
  19. So why haven’t we ever managed to sign one for the last 5 years?
  20. They also have fans that cause trouble like everyone else. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/8340017/hearts-celtic-fans-fight-spat-nephew https://news.stv.tv/west-central/council-condemns-unacceptable-vandalism-after-celtic-fan-celebrations-in-glasgow-city-centre https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/scottish-news/6341261/celtic-fans-neil-lennon-protest-humza-yousaf-snp/ Just for the record I’ve no allegiance to either of those two north of the borders Rangers fans are probably worse. But I’ve seen the Celtic fans at Ewood first hand.
