I’ve already said I’d rather not have international breaks and continue the domestic season. But IF we are to have international breaks, I’d rather this than friendlies.

I started a post earlier with ‘accepting that there will be an international break’. If you were arguing to never cancel domestic weekend football, and just play the odd international on a Wednesday night then hell yeah. I’d be all for that.

So what’s the problem with it then if the solution is to organise these games anyway? What it does do is give other European countries a shot at some success they might not normally get. If Hungary were to win the finals next summer, do you think they’d see it as forgettable. If Israel or Montenegro win in group B and get promoted to Group A, they will see that as some success and progress. International football Iis not all about the European superpowers winning the Euros and Worlds. It’s also a simple format to follow. I just don’t see the problem with it.

Accepting that there is always going to be an international break, it’s either this or friendlies. At least this gives us an indication of where England are rather than beating Paraguay at Wembley.

But the game was going terribly and the formation / tactics were not working. JDT obviously didn’t think Dack the right person for that situation, but the changes he did make had no positive impact. I wouldn’t start Dack next game. But if we are playing poorly and desperately need to create openings and need to score a goal I’d certainly be giving him a chance as we know first hand what he can do.

I was frustrated as hell yesterday. It's not because we lost. Your second sentence is bang on. What frustrated and worries me is the fact we are playing the same way in the 89th minute as we were in the 5th minute and it simply wasn't working. In fact it was completely detrimental to us the number of times we gave the ball away in our own final 3rd. Its obviously JDT doesn't fancy Dack. A good performance and great assist against Blackpool is now largely forgotten. What worries me is the insistence to play out from the back requires a certain style of player. Brittain looks like he may fit into this mould, but I've not seen much in Szmodics and HIrst yet to think they are the quality of player who can implement championship tikka takka. Dack and Buckley do fit into this mould, but were benched.

They gave it as offside. When the Watford players started questioning, the linesman gave the "he was offside and ran back onside" gesture. I've paused it frame by frame and he is stood offside as the ball is coming in, but the defender clearly goes back and plays him on as the ball is played. I'll definitely take it after some of the stuff we have had go against us previously. At the time I thought maybe Hyam when he scored was offside as he was well advanced of the back line when he did his scorpion kick, but he was clearly on looking at the replay.

Spoke to a portly journalist about this weekends matches. The games will probably be called off on Saturday although they may go ahead. Bit in paper.

Both United and West Ham say tonight’s games will go ahead “following direction from the FA and UEFA.’” Not sure that sets any precedent as it’s so close to kick off. Doncaster racecourse’s St Leger meeting cancelled tomorrow and an announcement about Saturday will be made tomorrow.
