  1. Overheard in Ewwod carpark.." I've fckin told you. Defenders are coming!"
  2. I am sure Mrs Lincoln saw positives that day in the theatre-impressive set, good acting, nice wine in the interval etc OK, we did have a lot of possession, but so much of it was sterile and aimless...,in our own half, in our own penalty area, even. The was no craft or guile, no cutting edge, no method, no final ball. Then, so predictably the same old, self-harming, glaring defensive errors. Jeff Stelling, John Masefield, even Leonard Cohen couldn't re-frame that. You really had to watch to get the enormity of the frustration. Rant over!
  3. Agreed. I cannot think of one reasonable excuse for neglecting the longstanding, glaring deficiencies at the back. A few months ago, I was so relieved to hear his quote about defenders coming, the current players aren't up to it etc. Now, it seems he is either in some kind of distorted denial or merely playing company man in light of the owners' refusal to cough up for defenders. To think I had decided not to renew my season ticket, unless this was sorted out....but I cracked on Friday!
  4. Like Bruce did a few years ago...
  5. Well, there will be a lot of people, myself included, who would applaud if you were successful in that.
  6. What a mean spirited dig at a poster and a moderator, for whom I have the utmost respect!
  7. I think I was actually screaming..Put the ball in the f**** net!
  8. That is what being a Rovers fan is all about. I can see it clearly all these years later.. Rovers in trad shirts with blue shorts, a whitened pitch, orange ball..Stuart Metcalfe spraying the ball about, Wagstaff rounding the keeper and seemingly counting to 100 before actually putting the ball in the net...the appointment with Fear...then hanging on at the end.... Even Venky's will never take that away!!
  9. His debut was a very famous Boxing Day(Stephen's for your good self) at Turf Moor...
  10. Haha..Re the other two, I meant from signing to being immediately in the team
  11. I remember it well. Archibald was pretty quick too...and Keith Fear!!
  12. Agreed. All part of the modern virus, where too much young talent is hoarded by Premier clubs. We shouldn't be signing anything that ties a manager's hands.
  13. Yep. I remember reluctantly agreeing to go the Emirates with my Irish in-laws and my Arsenal supporting nephew. None of them could understand my reluctance. I think they took it personally. I was embarrassed but probably more angry with myself for falling for it!
  14. Haha..Glad I put a question mark at the end of my own post. Some posters are like my wife. She has a double first in Certainty and Wrongness!
  15. It looks like it was after it was already out there?
  16. I know he is a Rovers fan. If I were a journo and a fan, why would I release details that may harm the club's chances? It is not like he is keeping quiet about Anderson or Kean is it?
  17. Agreed. The only worry is whether any of it will go to addressing our porous defence!
  18. I've swam upon the devil's lakeBut never, never, never, neverI'll never make the same mistakeNo never, never, never
  19. We won't win any points today with that line up lol
  20. I can't believe we are sticking to the same poor defence!....... I refuse to believe it until the window closes..(.the same way I did last August and indeed January.) I just don't get it...the difference it would make etc
  21. But it did look like getting promoted-big time-until Boxing Day at Hull. Then the slide started that took us all the way down to Div 3..
  22. I hope things look different in a couple of weeks. But am getting that nagging feeling again about the purpose of transfer activity at Blackburn Rovers...
  23. But I don't think that is the point. The concern is the current unbalance and the longstanding failure to address the defence.
  24. We even had a trial run after the failure of the January window!
