  1. Its funny, there seems to be a positive correlation between knee-jerk, negative reactionary posts and people who didnt actually go to the match. Was at Pompey at the weekend and thought we put up a pretty good battle. They are on superb form atm, and are playing with pace, power, skill and desperation, perhaps being the key componant. Yes they did have more chances and yes they could have scored more. However, Brad did well and we ourselves could have had more goals, MGP chance and Emerton at the end. A excellent point imo and a really exciting game, perhaps the best away game out of the 10 ive been to this season (apart from maybe wigan and charlton). On that evidence they could do us a favour against the arse in midweek which would obv be brilliant from our point of view. Our support was good in numbers considering the distance, but didnt make a sound apart from the goals and at half time for a funny chap named bomber !! Good day out tho, nice weather good match and a good point imo!
  2. Its still game on gents, although we are relying on other teams to do us a favour. Spurs could easily loose their next 3 games, although i hope they loose the next 2 and then draw with arse, as that will give us a chance to steal thru. We should seal up 6th place as a minimum this yr, but its difficult to predict anything, notlob have some pretty decent fixtures after chels!
  3. The Wigan crowd against Villa wont be that great cos its a midweek match and that always seems to affect their crowds quite badly, as it does ours. However i do see a problem on the horizen in the fact that pompey might take close to 5k there, as the club is laying on free transport and its their final away game to avoid the drop. Considering that it will also be wigans final home game, and they will want to thank their team for having an amazing 1st yr in prem, it might be enough to win the bet. Its gonna be very tight, jeez this is almost as fun as the champs league place battle
  4. Im going for a close 2-1 victory for the Rovers! Heading down there with my old man, and prob staying in pomp on the sat night after also. Cant wait for the superb facilities again, no bogs, kiosks or roof, but oh well at least it aint meant to rain! How many tickets have we sold for this one, i was hoping we might take about 1000 down, due to position and london rovers influence!
  5. Wigan will struggle to get 18,000 for the last 3 games, b'ham is on sky, Villa is midweek and pompey is unglamorus and a mission for away fans, although pompey might bring a fair few due to their situation. We will win the bet!
  6. According to a wiganer on the footiemad message boards, they have sold around 3,200 tickets by last night. Dont know if he is bsing or what really
  7. Yes, according to the Wednesday site, there are 6,965 seats in the upper and lower tier of the Leppings Lane end. Consdiering the total capasity of the end is 8,000 including the open air corner, we must have had just over 7K there (the sold out upper and lower) and the few scattered in the corner bit.
  8. I know its a long shot after the first leg, but what effect would Boro have winning the Uefa cup have on procedings? Would that mean an extra place granted to the Eng league in the uefa cup, or would they just nick the 6th place and give it automatically to boro?
  9. Are we not effectively garanteed some sort of European football next season? We have a chance of qualifying for the champs league, should qualify for the uefa, but with regards to the intertoto, we are that far ahead of the other teams that its fair to say there will b some sort of european footie at ewwod next yr, even if its only in july
  10. Throughly deserved new contract imo as he has had a excellent season. As others have mentioned, hopefully we can sign him up before the w/cup in case he does something amazing out in Germany. Consistant, a hard tackler, and good at overlapping another one of Souness excellent signings (pls try and remember, it wasnt all bad).
  11. Right than Lee, here is a question for you.I was gonna pm you, but ive seen others asking questions on this thread so here it goes. Im a s/t holder in the BBE lower. Ive got a superb seat, 3/4 up towards the back and slap bang centre of the goal. Im at University and still commute back to Bburn every home game and most away games to watch us. HOWEVER, as part of my course, im going to be studying abraod from August to December in the USA, so obviously wont be able to still watch the Rovers. I want to get a half season ticket as soon as i return to England, but would really like to keep my current seat. Is there any way of like reserving my seat, because the BBE lower doesnt sell out, even tho for the first half of the yr i wont be using it? Thanks very much for any info Lee.
  12. Emerton, Reid and Amo were bought out of the Dunn money. The majority of the Duff money was put in the bank and then £6.5m was used for Bazza. Also some of that money for bazza woulda come from our 6th placed finish!
  13. Cos the Brum game is on sky and is a 5.15 kickoff. I expect about 17k. Imo its all about what kinda crowds wigan get for the rest of the season. Id expect them to get 3 sub 20k crowds and finish off on about 20,500. We will then get 20k+ for all our games and city on the last day will be a virtual sell out meaning we should confortably win. Dont sweat yet Gav!
  14. Im hoping to go to South Africa, ive gota coupla mates out there who went to my uni this yr. They can get me tickets and i can c them also!!
  15. Im sorry, but anybody who is saying that Champs league would be bad for Blackburn at this point is totally off their trolley. I wouldnt give a monkeys if we lost all 6 games 5-0, that £15m plus would be a massive boost to the club. The buzz around East Lancashire would be amazing and big game, such as inter, ac, juve, barca, munich, real would see defo sell outs reagardless of how many they bring. The away trips would also be fabulous and something that we as a club could never forget. The first town club to qualify for the Champions league without a finantual backer. Net spending of £900k would be some achievement. Anyway, on to yesterdays game. I didnt go, it was a trip to far for me. Ive been to around 10 away games this season, yet have managed to miss our wins at boro, n'caslte and sunderland. Sounds like it was a hard fought victory but we edged a close encounter. Its a superb victory, cos we've struggled away from home and thats 3 wins in a row. On paper, we were favs for all 3 games, but to actually go out and do the biz is excellent. Im going to every single 1 of the remaining games this season, and if we can get another 5 wins under our belt i think we can get champs league!
  16. I know alot of you seem to be worried by this fixture, but fear not it will be a comfortable 3-1 victory. Boro will be weary from their magnificent win in Rome on Wed and with a Fa cup 1/4 final to come on tues a trip to East Lancs will be the last thing on their mind. With b'ham beating Spurs i reckon we will go level on points with them and its game on for the champs league! Rovers 3-1 Boro Bellamy Downing mgp Nelson 22,012
  17. Here is another question. Why didnt April 15th get taken out the equation for l'pool when they were doing the fix at the start of the season. After all, they arrange the fix computer so that certain clubs dont play at home on the same sat (us and burnley, saints pompey, man u city etc) surely they could have done a similar thing for April 15th?! Or would that be too sensible
  18. Okay this whole situation really needs to get sorted out. On the Liverpool site it says on breaking news how Liverpool are now trying to get the game moved completely from that date. FFS can they make their mind up on what the hell is going on http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...060315-1329.htm
  19. Its not our fault whatsoever. Those clows should have sorted it out long ago ie in the first half of the season when they knew they were playing us on that day. There are no real other alternative dates and so when they asked to move the fix back we said yes. Only those moaners are to blame. It doesnt matter if a few boycott anyway, they will still sell out 7k esp at that stage in the season
  20. Cos they have a population of around 1.7 million to draw from so should easily be able to fill that, regarding they drop that ludicrus price Cat A prices of £42
  21. Nope, cos your doing Eng Lit not Eng Lang. Besides thats just my personal opinion, other people would think im throwing my life away cos im doing history. Anyway, back to crowds......
  22. Every time Arse and Spurs go away from home, i can see them easily getting beat. Spurs have more away games then home and i think a big advantage to us is that we dont have to play any of the teams around us (arse, bolton, wh& spurs) apart from wigan and can watch the other teams take points of each other.
  23. No, why the hell would i wana study my own language when i can already do it to a good enough standard. Correcting spelling mistakes is also about as pathetic as you can get. Basically it means you havent got a decent response about what was said.
  24. Can do without the smartarse comments, esp when i got 2A's and a C at a-level and im currently suding at university. Where did i say that the club MUST implement the £12 rule? I gave a reason for the decrease in the crowds over a long period of time. Imo its the greed of players with their overtly inflated wages which means the clubs can no longer charge those kinda prices but must keep on rising them year on year above inflation. You must also consider our future support in terms of kids and what a full house and great atmposhere can do to inspire the players. However, I can quite comfortable realise why the club cant afford to do this esp when the bigger teams bring 3-7k at £32. Anyway after correcting smartarse nog, just thought id say that the crowd was pretty decent y'day. 22k when its a sat evening game on sky. Perhaps a 3pm game might have seen 24k +. Think Gav's bet is gona be made with wigans remaining fix, their average is only gona come down.
  25. I think it is more the long term price increases. As has been mentioned many times before, wages have increased by roughly 50% since 1990, whereas Ewood tickets have gone up from like £5 (i dont know the actual amount, just guessing) to around £28 (averaging out the 3 cat). So say we apply the wage increase to Rovers home matches this season and tickets were £12 for adults and £5 for kids, our average crowd would be much close 30k imo
