1. They have only just changed it to a maximun allocation of 5,500 to Wigan, when we went in the league cup, we took towards 7,000, maybe more didnt we?
2. Yeh, did anybody see that little snip-it on ssp news about the new German stadiums. Park of the stadium was a modern seating /standing area. You can lift your seat up and create a terrace position, or have the seat down, During the world cup, all that area would have to be seating, but during league games the home ger team can have standing. You can fit more in than if it is turned into the seating opiton. As RM, says why not to this to the riverside and be the english guinee pig for reintroducing safe, standing in eng!
3. A pretty decent start imo, although it would have been nice to start the season at home to west ham, instead of having to travel all the way to East London. The game at Wigan on new yrs eve should be brilliant fun and we could take 5,000+ to that game. Also getting sunderland at home on the 28th is good as they will bring a huge following down from the North East. City at home on the last day should also be a sell out, with hopefully something positive to play 4, for Rovers!!
4. Thats the whole point you muppet, it might encourage Asians to go to both Old Trafford (cricket) and Ewood park, obviously football during the winter and cricket and summer. I wasnt talking about those already members of lancs ccc but of both working together to attract some more fans. As i said it was only an idea ffs, can you come up with something better you clown? Doubt it, your prob 1 of those to$$ers who moans the whole time but comes up with nowt to do anything about it
5. Been supporting the Rovers since the back end of the 92-93 season when i was about 6 1/2 yrs old. So its just gone 12 yrs as Rovers fan, March-ish 1993-2005 and i'll be a Rover for the rest of my life. To be fair, ive been spoilt really, every season ive been a fan, there has been something to play for in the league, bar 1. Tittle chases, 2: 93-94 and 94-95 (1 won, 1 lost) Uefa Cup chases, 4: 92-93,95-96,97-98 and 02-03 (2 lost, 2 won) Relegation battles, 5: 96-97, 98-99, 01-02, 03-04 and 04-05 (1 lost, 4 won) Promotion battles, 1: 00-01 (1 won) Just 1 mid-table boring season, 99-00 in div 1
6. Yes. East Lancs does have a large 'ethnic' population. Maybe the club should offer them tickets at exactly the same price as everyone else. 323715 I was thinking about this and came up with an idea. Now it may seem stupid, but we may as well put any kinda ideas down on paper. Anyway, my idea.... Its obvious that the majority of asian kids prefer cricket to football. Now, thats not racist, sterotyping, generalising, its just plain fact. However, what about the idea of having a joint football season ticket at Ewood and a season ticket at Old trafford (cricket). Obviously we would need to talk with lancs ccc, and im sure that it would take a good deal of sorting out, but why not? I think both sides would benifit as cricket can be watched in the summer and football in the winter. Now, i dunno how much a lancs ccc s/t is, but say its £250 at lancs and £400 at Ewood, we could offer a joint s/t for a whole calander yr for say £550, a saving of £100. I know its sounds weird, but what do people think about the idea. We gotta try something ffs!!
7. Good luck Stead and thanks for keeping us up. Only time will tell whether its the right decision, but i do have faith in Hughes!
8. Brilliant left back and for the 3 yrs at Rovers you would have struggled to find many better left backs in Europe. Was sensational throughout the championship season scoring goals, up and down and also defending. Superb signing to swap with Livingston and later sold for a big profit. Wish him well and hope to see him more on motd 2 next season. And Jim, he was from some island for goodness sake, so he's not really southern is he??
9. Park is a damn fine player imo and would be a good addition to the United team. Surely as a South Korean rather than chinease, its difficult to claim that its just being done for the Asian market as their population is limited and im sure not that popular in outside of S. Korea.
10. It would be zero profit for away games..... 322346 Does the club not get any cut on away matches? If so I'll start buying more shirts... 322355 No, we dont get a cut but the club has to pay for any seats the fans dont take. Pre buying a way tickets through a away season ticket though, helps the club know what allocation to take and therefore not waste money!
11. sarcastic S.O.B. 321886 My friend who now lives in London, a Rovers fan originally from Blackburn goes to 15-20 games a season. However, his dad only went to 2 or 3 London games yet was sent a season ticket application form depite his south-west london address! Thats good to see at least, it looks like the t/o are doing their damnest to get more s/t holders!! Ignore the fact ive quoted the above, dunno why the hell i did that lol!
12. Cos they have a new ground and so want to test it out against big opposition. I heard that fulham are playing there too. I expect us to play a coupla of local friendly's also as we usually do.
13. They have to charge the same. So as away fans are now in the South Stand it is likely the will be charged the same as the home fans in the North Stand (the same way Rovers charge the Darwen End the same as the Blackburn End. So it will be £22 for ADults and £10 for under 16's for a category A game. Incidentally tickets for the equivalent game at Ewood would be £30 for Adults and £12 for kids. 320108 That is probably gonna be the cheapest away day in the prem next yr, £22 for a lancashire derby we should take 5k to theres. When we went to bolton in decemder, adults were £35! As for the liverpool fan, its good the ticket office doing that, no matter what the arrogant tosser seems to think about it. Btw, i dont remember villa selling out at ours, maybe my memory is going (i hope not im only 18 ffs!! )
14. Does anybody know what games will be in A+/A/B catergory, it didnt seem to say on the offocial site.
15. Damn, i feel sorry for nob enders, wanted them to come up, im certainly not travelling all the bloody way to east london. Both would have been relegation fodder, but woulda been nice to fully dominate the prem with northern clubs!
16. Personally, i think the club have done very well with the ticket pricing both for matchday and s/t, as long as the the matchday catergories are for the right matches. I would only have Manu and liverpool in the A+ catergory, thus getting 7k of their lot to fork out £32 a ticket. Then, i would have all the remaining A catergory from last yr put in the current £30 A catergory with all the current B staying in B. I would have S'land and Wigan in B and Pne if they go up, in A. As for the s/t, what else can the club do. I know we have churned out sh1t for the best part of 2 yrs, but how can the club compete without raising prices slightly. Its in line with inflation, which is all i've ever asked for, rather then the 10/15% increases which shouldnt happen. Prem football is still superb value at Ewood, i site the cost per game with a s/t as example for this given by Paul. Get em sold
17. Give him a chance everyone. He needs a good pre-season training and he could end up having a excellent yr next season. Please dont judge too early, we do that too much on hear. Bring this thread back next summer!
18. A excellent night and a very good crowd imo. The biggest crowds for these kinda games are usually for big name players who have only just retired. For Parkes to a crowd similar to the fa cup 1/4 final (- obviously away fans) i thought was pretty decent and well deserved from the legend. There was lots of good parts to the night. Shearer scoring in front of a packed bbe lower, the encouraging finishing of gally, derbyshire & Garner, the appearance of so many legends from the mid 90's, but my fav bit was the parkes speach after the game. The emotion in his voice was special and you tell how much it meant to him. I almost broke down in bloody tears, let alone TP A night for Parkes, but also a goodbye to so many Rovers legends!
19. Btw, when do s/t details usually come out, i cant remember. Is it in June or the start of July?
20. I will be getting a season ticket again next yr, for the first time since i was in the junior catergory which was 02-03 season. Ive not had 1 for the previous 2 seasons but will get my young adullt s/t next yr will at uni! There are a number of points i would like to raise. 1.) Cost of football tickets. I agree that our publics response to reduced prices has been awful, but can you say it doesnt make a difference. For example, take spurs (cat B and everton cat a). The spurs game was a evening kick off, and was on tv but the att from rovers fans was around 20k. The everton game was a 3pm sat game with everton taking the whole of the dawen end and a local clash against a champs league chasing team. The rovers crowd, JUST 18,000. Why? It must the be the diff in the price cos the spurs game was on tv and still there was more rovers fans on. 2.) The premier league MUST introduce young person/student tickets for all home and away teams in prem. The stats are allarming. The age range of 16-24 is WORSE represented than any other age range at football games. These are our bloody future fans we must do something about that. Maybe £15 for those 16-19 or those still in education. 3.) The riverside. Why cant we be the guniee pig and create the first safe standing area in eng. They do it in germany and the lower div's have standing, why cant we? As has been mentioned, standing in standing areas is far safer than standing in seated areas. 4.) As has already been mentioned, why not send a s/t application form to everyone on the database. With it, send out a questionnaire (as to why if they aint getting a s/t ) for those who arent gonna renew. Like the idea about the 6 game pass or something similar. If this thread does preduce any good replies than if must be sent to Ewood!
21. Its the Nob enders for me, as i much prefer to travel the 10miles or whatever it is there, rather the mission down to east london or ipswich. Both awful journey's and wouldnt bring as many fans as the Nob enders. Might help our average crowd a little bit!
22. That must have been a record breaking barmy army chant, it lasted for bloody ages. The steward thing was really good too. That beach ball was thrown about alot also to the cries of 'ole' and the hand-ball chant from b'ham was re-discovered once or twice A pretty decent performance actually which with a striker we could have easily won. Its up to hughes to do the business and find something up front!!
23. Brilliant, laughing for ages at that. Nice 1. Im going to the game on sunday and we need 3 points to hopefully finish above n'castle and b'ham. I think it will be a draw with Stead scoring for us. Looking forward to having a laugh tho, but role on next yr.
