  1. Right, lets have some more rain tommorow so we can tie up this Ashes victory. After all, whats fair is fair, it should have been 3-1 if not for the rain at Old Trafford. I fully expect at least a session to be washed out tomoz hopefully more than that!
  2. There has been some very strange things written on this thread. Quite ridiculus sterotypes are being banded around and unfortunatly its just deflecting away from the real issue at hand here and that is the people of New Orleans. This is a natural disaster of quite huge proportions and there are 100's of 1000's of people in real danger of death, disease and injury. Now as someone who was born and mostly raised in England, but to American(yankee) parents i didnt really have alot of time for the South. However, when this kinda thing happens all that goes out of the window, and my and my parents (especially) heartfelt sympathes go out to everyone involved down there in the deep South. The clean up opperation will be long and painful, but it is in the American's spirt to fight back and re-build New Orleans. Comments like 'its nice to see an American city getting crippled' is quite shameful. I dont care if you think 'the war in iraq' was wrong there is no excuse. Oh and btw, you ignorant prat, 95% of the people involved are anything BUT 'yanks' but i suppose you wouldnt be intelligent enough to know anthing about that. 'Your governments shafted you, again. Nay mind, you'll still vote for the same party next time, because you 'always do'. Yep wow, you have to go back a whole 6 years since there has been a different political party in charge of the country. More of a change then your very own Germany (how many yrs of unemployment and still you vote for the same party), but hey you wouldnt bother reseraching something like that eh? Now the Bush administration does deserve critism for this, but remember much of new orleans local admistrations (run by democrats) fouled up just as badly. Lets try not to use as political points scoring but just concentrating on the support for the poor and needy people of New Orleans.
  3. Its not about how hardcore the support is, its the amount of supporters they have. For example, take us or boro. For a home game sat, 3pm kick off we might get say 23k. Now for teams like us and boro, if this is on t.v it takes a coupla 1000 off the crowd. However, for arsenal and chels 45,000 are willing to turn up to a home game sat 3pm. Knock 3,000 of this cos of a sky game, but its still a full house. And to the coupla of post above, keep your hair on it was on a suggestion on my behalf, not my opinion!
  4. I dont see what N'castle fans are expecting? They sign owen, so that means they are garanteed and top 6 place. Sorry to tell you this but Owen is no Pele. People seem to have forgot this as he has been away from England for a year. Yes he is an excellent goal scorer, but how many countless goal droughts did owen have at Liverpool, a club where he will get twice as many chances a game then at nufc? He will score goals, for sure but he doesnt half miss chances as well. The question is, will nufc create enough to make up for this and judging by todays game the answer is no. Sets up next sunday nicely tho!
  5. I would like to see Gresko start actually on sun. He was very good when i saw him at the villa game which i travelled down to. Good player with a decent left mid in front of him!
  6. Missed Mgp, he would have made all the difference! Btw, gally scored again for the scot u21, thats 2 in 2 for the on loan stoke man. Good to see imo!
  7. We won 4-1 mate on a fri night, but Jansen didnt get a hat-trick, in fact he has never scored a league hat-trick for the Rovers! The guys who got the goals were Bent, Dunn, Jansen and Hignett in that order
  8. To play devils advocate here, some clubs are trying to do something about it. By creating catergory games usually 3 tiers, then are charging the most to away fans who in turn usually charge the most themselves. For example, at west brom, catergory a+ will be the £35 for away fans (arse, liv, chels, manure) who are themselves usually the most expensive. However, when we go there, as a catergory b game, it will be £25 for a away ticket. Lots of clubs are now doing this and at least it punishes the big clubs for keeping their prices high!
  9. Does anybody know how many tickets we have sold for the game. Im mean its a local derby, i hope we can at least sell out that allocation of 1,800 for crying out loud, we took 3k there last yr! Looking forward to this 1 as i think we can sneak a victory form this game. 2-1 Rovers
  10. Does anybody have a link to Mgp goal for Norway, as i hear it was a classy finish. He's suspended for the scot game isnt he? Cheers
  11. Last year they had the upper Darwen end and half the lower tier, which i guess is around 5,000 seats? Hopefully they sell out this time, only more money in our coffers!
  12. No chance of being a sell out even if N'castle get the whole of the Darwen end, as it on t.v for 1 thing and is also a catergory A game so higher prices for walk on fans! Its a shame, but a crowd of 26k+ would be a good effort imo! Does anybody know how many we've given Nufc?
  13. For crying out loud everyone, what the hell is everyone getting so uptight about? Now i know that for those who had to wait behind in the coaches for 1 or 2 people is very frustrating, but i cant see the big deal. As Waz put it, he has earnt his money during the week and cost him 70pnd for going to Villa and wanted to have some fun, i dont see any problem with that. Just because he was probably tipsy rather than full out drunk and decieded to start some chants, what the matter with that, it was dead in that away end on sat anyway. Calling him a chav just because of this is unacceptable, and the continual reference to his spelling and grammar (something which i hate) is almost as boring as that '$2 and hour chant'. Who cares about his spelling, its the point he is trying to make which is important. And Jan, you complain about the 'easy' chant, fair enough i hate that too. However, although you complained about the 'interbread' chant to Blake at birmingham, you seemed to find the chant about 'watching souness pass away' funny enough and were singing it yourself. Now, im not saying that i agree totally with their behaviour, fighting or bricks (although it wasnt their fault) is nonsense, and personally i dont touch achool before or after a game but if some people do without causing undue problems i dont see the problem. Some of us need to loose our hypocritical stance and lighten up a little.
  14. I have to admit that i was thinking of raising the question of perhaps a boycott of the chelsea away game this time last week. Why not get the supporters club to ask the club to refuse ANY allocation for the chels game as we know it will be $48 to see the Rovers smashed. Im certainly not going, save my money for other away games!
  15. They werent taking the mick mate, they were just having a bitova laugh. They were saying stuff like 'go team' and other so called 'soccerism's'. It wasnt anti american barracking in any way shape or form, just a laugh. Went to the game today and the only positive i can take out of it, was the excellent performance of Gresko went he came onto the pitch. Superb and should take the position off matteo now. Oh and Sav's dead balls were @#/? all game, 11 corners and countless free-kicks, all but about 1 of them were pish, just like Kuqi's finishing!
  16. Very good performance from the lads last night, and the type of game where you can only appreciate how well we played by being at the game, rather than watching it on tv or catching the highlights. Entertaining match, c'mon rovers fans your missing out on not being at Ewood! We played exactly as i hoped, dominated the mid-feild and had a high tempo approach that thfc struggled with throughout the game. We had many chances to win, savage, Kuqi, mgp and Emerton all with good opportunites to score! Jol basically got it wrong by thinking we are a third rate team who you can just term up and win at with a weakened team. Dont think so Jol, we shoulda got at least 1 pen the 1 on Kuqi in particuler! As for the sending off, the replay shows he had to go. I was sitting the bbe lower and so obviously i was behind the action, and it looked like he clearly took the ball and i was furious when he was sent off. Finally, a superb travelling support in numbers by spurs, all of 4,000 there, but i did expect more noise form them to be honest. On the other hand, the BBE was in superb voice for most of the match. Especially in the second half, it was noisy and dare i say it, passionate!! Role on Villa on saturday and a result there will see us into the break in very good stead!
  17. I think this could be a really good game, and i think playing the same formation of 4-5-1 is would be clever in this game. We must get on top of them early and not allow them to settle and pass around us. We must be quick and attack with pace, similar to the first 15 against Fulham. Should be a good game with Spurs bringing 4,000+ which really is a tremendous effort. Rovers 2-2 Spurs Kuqi and Emerton, in front of 21,000ish
  18. Funny the difference a week makes. Beat spuds and it will be talk of champions league . Get a grip ffs everyone!!
  19. The comparison is so chalk and cheese, the statement isnt really relevant. Blackburn population is 135k, compared to London 9million (believe me, you are as likely to see a chels shirt in se london than west london these days) and the club is based in wealthy area with the majority of fans being middl class and upwards! To the spurs fan above, you do have the added benifit of being a old establised London club and able to appeal to the huge population of all over the city. You should bring a fair few tommrow, spurs always have a good away support, esp as you are gonna be top of the league coming into the game!
  20. Really good positive performance against Fulham getting us the 3 points. How many games/months did it take to get that many points last season?? Mgp and tugay scored great goals, but i thought it was an all round good performance. A similar attitude and level against thfc would make it a cracker as they are playing really well. Onwards and upwards!!
  21. Well i was on holiday, so that explains my non-appearance at fulham
  22. Bloody cheeky Celtic fans, look at this comment at the bottom about the relegation battle! http://www.celtic-mad.co.uk/news/loadnews....=TMNW&id=229129
  23. Disgraceful terrorist attack, they have now hit another Westernized country. Usa with 9/11, Australia with Bali, Madrid bombing and now London. It now seems that the contingency plans for a terrorist attack which most people laughed at and said was ott, is now paying off. From friend lives in the outskirts of London (Kingston), and text messages are blocked as i presume the system is being overloaded. Phones are still working, but he doesnt know what the situation is like closer to the centre. Update: 2 confirmed dead, figure will of course rise. Kind of puts all the happyness with the bellamy signing into perspective when a event like this happens
  24. I would they are a bit weird out there . Still, at least there is no-one on this mb who comes from out that way......
