You must be on Pete Doherty's dancing powder if you genuinely think that. Fox hunting was no more than a sop to the Labour left to counter discontent with Top up fees, private schemes in the NHS etc. The part of the Labour Party in power are nowt more than a PC version of Thatcher, and are centre-right. To say that the likes of Blair, Straw and A. N. Other are motivated by 'smashing the Kulaks' is ignoring the policies in many fields since 1997. People like Jack Straw were quite radical in their youth (as President of the NUS, he organised a sit-in at a teaching college my parents were in), but they have mellowed out and drifted to the right. Or they may have been 'bought' by the latest 'third way' politics, depending on your views. But then I guess you can't trust anyone who doesn't have a tattoo of Margaret Thatcher or Paul Joseph can you ?.

[Archived] Laptops
Billy Castell replied to Eddie's topic in I Can't Believe It's Not Football Archive
OK people, I need a bit of help. There is a sale on at PC World, and there is a Toshiba M50-164 (or M50 something) for £750. From what I could divulge from my copy of What Laptop, it seems pretty good. Anyway, I need to know the following: 1. Are Toshiba a good, reliable brand that don't fall to bits or mess you about with customer service ?. 2. Will PC World mess me about if it breaks within a year ? 3. Is there a better deal elsewhere ?. Here is the Toshiba, although I won't be buying the printer. -
60-4 now according to the BBC. We're shredding them to pieces, and they have no Gillespie to provide stubborn resistance.

[Archived] Football - A Bit Crap Really
Billy Castell replied to Scotty's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Football is dead. Long live rugby and cricket. The problems as I see it are: 1. Too much money going to the top teams and naff all for the rest. 2. The media have turned every transfer, game and incident into an overblown, hollow soap opera. Who cares about Essian and his wages ?. 3. The players rarely have a personality. If they do, they're usually arrogant and spoilt. 4. Football's soul has been pumped full of additives (the Premiership, g14 clubs etc.) to make it more 'exciting'. The soul of the game is ill and rotten because of it. 5. The fans of the top teams dominate the airwaves with their constant bitching, whining and sniping at each other. The Ashes are on now, and they are far more exciting and engaging than a bunch of brats more concerned about their wages than winning trophies. -
Can any Australians enlighten us with any names to look out for when Ponting/Warne/Gilchrist and the other 30+ guys retire ?. At the moment the only names I know are Clarke and Tait.

I think we'll win in the 10th round with a Savage right cross. -
We can win it, although the next tour will be more favourable, as so many Aussies will be 35+ or retired. We will be damned close, but I think the Aussies might win 2-1 with narrow wins.

[Archived] Glazer Set For Utd
Billy Castell replied to ainscough99's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
What I love about this are the Man Utd fans with their 'Not for Sale' signs, spouting off about how the whole is issue is 'bad for football'. Firstly a company, even a medium sized one like Man Utd is perminently for sale when they are publicly listed. The shares can be bought and sold freely. Secondly, why is it bad if one of the G14 members goes under, as they fear ?. It is the G14 clubs, like Madrid City Council FC and Man Utd that have ruined football, and if as many of them get brought down a peg or two then football is better off. And finally, what makes them think football will collapse if they suffer a downturn in their finances and/or form ?. -

Billy Castell replied to The1mattjansen's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Fairly happy he went to Man Citeh. He's 33, around the same age as Dickov, and only scores 10 goals a season now. His wages and the fee would not make financial sense either. Maybe an unknown international on a Bosman would work (like Riziak at Derby). -
[Archived] Craig Bellamy - Good Signing Or Not?
Billy Castell replied to Modi's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I have my fingers crossed that he will behave himself. He said all the right things when he signed, and there is a close relationship between him and Hughes, but time will tell if he has changed as a person. -
[Archived] Wayne Rooney,role Model?
Billy Castell replied to Mr Maureen's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
If all the stories in the tabloids are true, Wayne has the image of a fat faced chav who needs to be beaten into line by his employers. It looks like his missus loves his credit card as much/more than him as well. He comes across as a right tosser. -

That sounds like a good swap Are the Neill handbooks any good? Are they about the art of how not to defend? It's probably a guide to surfing in Australia, and was produced for the benefit of Dwight Yorke for when bothering to play football is too much like work. -
It would be great if we finished above the Geordies. Thanks for taking Souness of our hands when we were going down the crapper.

Is that the same Alex Ferguson that met Jaap Stam in a restaraunt to discuss a move to Man Utd before he made a formal bid ?.What a hypocritical drunk. -
Arsenal 3 v 0 Rovers - Cup Semi Final
Billy Castell replied to Nuclearsox's topic in Messageboard Gold
And how biased were the Sky commentators ?. I had to turn off after they said Blackburn were dirty and boring for the 56th time. Yes, we are not too exciting, and we are quite dirty, but we can play as well. Martin Tyler and Andy Gray are probably still in the Arsenal dressing room, deliberately dropping the soap. -
Just imagine the picture if we won the Champions League !
-
a great documentary that both fans and those who knew nowt about them can enjoy. It'll be out at the end of the month.
-
Ouch. Problem is, they'll be fighting like mad to win the FA Cup. If we get to the final I'm not sure who I'd rather have, them with all their desire for a cup, or a fading Man Utd.

Is Take the money and run one of their albums ?. I have only heard of Formaldihyde (the one with My House), How to make friends........, RUS and Shaving Peaches.

The Italian love God is tough and good in the air, but his speed and technical game is poor. Not good enough to be here I'm afraid.

Liverpool through. 0-0 on the night. -
"Seeing as I'm off to see them at the academy tomorrow I've spent the evening with Terrorvision's Regular Urban Surviors and Take The Money and Run on whilst I work." Good to see someone else likes them, although the songs after shaving peaches were sh_t. I have a RUS T-shirt as well.

Flares are actually banned, but the ban is not enforced. At least that's what some reporter said on SSN today. And I hope they have played both derby games in the league. God help the decent public if they haven't. -

I'm not saying all Italian fans are bad, as that would be plain wrong. But it seems that the bad fans are getting worse, and that like you say, the police need to sharpen up. Maybe the reasonable Italian fans should be brave, join together and tell the lunatics enough is enough. Something like that 'Kick racism out of football' campaign may be a way to convey that message. A combined effort is needed by all reasonable people to stop these bullies. The same goes for Spain, and their racism, although according to UEFA that's OK. We have problems here in Bedford as a lot of people have Italian backgrounds, and get into scrapes with the England idiots whenever there is a game between the two.
