  1. Pandiani leaving Brum for espanyol? Asking price of 1 MM ?? Good bit of business that. $2 MM loss from just this past January. Well done, Gold !!
  2. I'm with you EIT... this unfashionableness represents a large chunk of my love for the Rovers. As a life long NY Giants fan, I can tell you that I almost enjoy our 'wilderness' years in which our bandwagon is relatively empty. (unlike this current season). Go , Hammer the TampaBayGlazers.
  3. Fitting ! More than well deserved.... will we weather the next 4 minutes? C'mon Rovers !!!!!
  4. We've missed a half dozen sitters just in short time i've been tuning in. This is never good . I'd hate to drop this now, we're clearly better tonight.
  5. Anyone watching this? How's it look? And Donny up on the Arse??
  6. Nevermind... Reminder to self: Must learn to keep eyes on page !
  7. whos' gonna score the goals now??? What goals? we've been dire of late... Benni is a good starting point... maybe we can convince Hernan that the bright lights of West London are too disruptive to his fledgling family and that he should move lock, stock & barrel up to E. Lancs... seriously....... let's pray the scan shows a shorter lay off is required.
  8. Argentina here. I had high hopes 12 months ago... now, all I see are dark clouds.... I'm begining to think that Pekerman has nary a clue. (I hope to be proven wrong--but there are no upcoming friendlies to remove the qualms). A quick return to health by Heinze & Aimar and others would do my stress much good I'm crossing fingers for tomorrow's draw... just our luck, we'll draw the dutch and yanks.... as an aside, does anyone else question Mexico's status as a seed? Who do they beat to deserve this? I understand you can only beat the sides in your fixture, but when was the last time Mexico ventured outside their little coccon to face a 'big boy'..... IMHO, FIFA is a joke.
  9. USABlue... your last post sounded like Tony Soprano venting in Dr. Melfi's office. (complete with passionate rant) Well done, Mate. I second your sentiments.
  10. Good find, Phil... I also enjoyed the 'Hughes has formed the team in his image, bad hair, ill-disciplined and scoring spectacular goals'. good writer , that.
  11. A few points that I was able to cobble together once I emerged from my catatonic state: 1. Watched a boat load of friendlies and play in matches on Saturday, was this the best one on tap? Brillant atmosphere, commitment and for the most part, fair play exhibited. The old codger in me appreciated the general goodwill exhibited by the players (helping each other up). That will go a long way in eraditicating the silly mistrust and ill will between our nations. 2. The stronger team did win Saturday, but the difference was truly evident whenever Paul Robinson made a play. He is rock steady, we’ve not had someone like that since Fillol… oh, how I miss the great ‘Pato’, heck, I’d settle for Pumpido! 3. We are getting old in some vital spots….. Ayala ‘s been beat up ever since a Paraguayan did his knee in the Greek Olympic final, Inter’s Captain fantastic, Zanetti is just returning from a long layoff and looked shakey at best & Samuel is a media creation, I’m afraid. 4. We didn’t have anyone that could keep pace with the inspired Rooney…. That ‘s a scary propostion! I fear this loss comes at a bad time in that it could potentially send our pysche for a loop with only 6 months remaining until the curtain goes up. 5. If the English media doesn’t cock things up for the team & a little fortune comes your way: I think you guys have a brillant chance to do some dancing in the streats ( if someone can knock the brasilians out) come next summer. it's the best English team I've ever seem (granted, i'm only 38).
  12. Well done, James... that's exactly what I was wound up about. Cheers.
  13. How about Phillip Cornhole @ Football365? See his recent article ? waster !
  14. Yes, we are a smaller country… somewhere b/t 36 & 40 million in population and definitely Brasil’s underling in Mercosur (hence the always present hostility between Lula da Silva & Kirchner). Also, shipping out all the corned beef to be found doesn’t help when kowtowing to the draconian International Banking repayments schedules. My takes on why Geneva & not Buenos Aires: 1. If the match was held in B.A.- the Argentine FA can only charge in Argentine pesos… or roughly .33 US Dollars (and I’ll not touch the US/Pound conversion)- so you see it’s miniscule. It makes more sense to charge dollars or at least a stronger currency. That’s why Argentina hasn’t hosted an international friendly since at least the last economic meltdown (the almighty $$$). 2. I think this is not the first time that all the Argentine expats play a match on the continent- if i'm not mistaken, they've done it in Italy & Morrocco (well, you know... close enough). I'm sure AFA uses this as a selling point when prising players from clubs teams..... that 10 hour flight to BA is an utter bear. 3. Lastly, I think that we couldn’t host the Brits (regardless of economic meltdown or recovery) as the powers to be are fearful of a typical Argentine welcome (read hysterical) to an invading Brit ‘force’- I rather doubt you lads would be happy with boiling oil or water thrown at you from windows. Nah…. I’m just kidding. But believe me, our folks still remember 1812 or whatever year you guys landed in BA looking for the spaniard’s soft white underbelly . All kidding aside, I’ve been looking forward to this match since the announceement in the Spring. For better or worse- no match (aside from the cariocas) represents as much to us. Can you guys remember the goal that Maradona scored in Wembley in 1981? Tremendous. You guys won 3-1, but that goal was etched in the mind of all criollos. It’s unfortunate that so many use this rivalry for purposes other than sport—and that’s on both sides of the fence. Game on Fellas, enjoy the outing and have a few stouts on me !
  15. I know that flop, i wasn't considering it because he was brought in late (if I recall) and hadn't had time to gum up the Manure works. the man isn't a complete waster, it's just that he gets the keys to some sleeks wheels and usually flatters to deceive.
  16. that's spot on. the begining of the end was bringing in queiroz.... what has this man done since Portugal's U-21 cup run? For heavens' sake, he even failed miserably here in the states with nyc's silly franchise.
  17. Good shout, RtH... Matt Holland 's been a favorite of mine for ages, good player, stout heart. But how can we keep him on the farm after he's seen Paris?
  18. Having watched Brum/rovers at the weekend with the Missus, she was astounded at how much our man, Bruce looked like Hyacinth Bucket. All he was missing was a lurid floral dress! Scary sight that.
  19. SG- That was my first thought as well... perhaps he engineered this to remove all those suspicions of 'playing for the other team'.
  20. I understand, mr greggyk.. i was heartened by the fact that these clubs were playing Manure and the Geordies respectively-whereas we had the boing boing baggies. We more results like today, who knows, reservations might be required to jump aboard our bandwagon !!! Let's focus on the positive today. A drink for all ! Prost !
