  1. Wow, what a performance and result. To score four goals and to play like we did is credit to what Hughsey has achieved at the club. I've slated Tugay aswell before, but I remember many saying "thanks for what youve done, but it's time to leave" etc etc. The guys a legend and deserves another years contract. Onwards and upwards!
  2. Mourinho is an utter d******d. I really hated the guy before but now I cannot bare to listen to the drivvle that comes out of his arrogant gob. Yes hes a great manager already, but even arsene "didnt see it" Wenger and Alex "added on time" ferguson arent nearly this annoying. We gave you a good game at your own turf, and made you work bleddy hard for your 3 points, so please respectr that. You cant win with this guy, if you come and defend he accuses you of parking the bus in front of the goal and if you give it a go and score he claims that they had to score for you. Jose mate your sqaud cost over £200 million and you still cant give credit to a team who made you sweat. Utter pillock. As for bellers it was only a week or so ago that he was interviewed and he said that there was still much more to come from this team yet.
  3. I too have noticed the slide in Freidels form over the past season or to. For me it appears to be his positioning for the goals which should give major cause for concern. The Cisse goal is a classic example of this. And I'd bet my bottom dollar that the Friedel of old wouldn't have parried that shot into the path of Gudjohnson yesterday when he should have made it 5.
  4. Good result by the boys and its great to see us climbing steadily. Awful first half, but it was followed by an alright second as we turned chances into goals, doubled with a dubious penalty. But luck does even itself out (Zurabs red card). Also, to the person who asked about Heskey, I don't think the challenge was that bad and he definitely shouldnt have been sent off. On his second challenge against MGP when I thought heskey would walk he actually executed a superb tackle. Roll on Chelski now!.....
  5. Havnt had the net for over a week now, so its the first chance I've had to say: WHAT A RESULT!!!!
  6. Sounded like a good game, just really happy that a-we bagged 3 goals, b-bellers got 2 and c-that we're in the hat as they say!
  7. Good to see we look as if weve gone with 4-4-2. Strange news about Gray, also looks as if Jansen's done another grand dissapearing act...I was hoping he'd start tonight.
  8. LD Rover your spot on mate. When was the last proper chance we had where you'd expect the striker to easily convert? Our ability to create one on one's with the keeper are fairly pathetic- the best chance weve had in this goaless streak was when Kuqi slided in and dinked it wide.
  9. Okay fair point buddy. He did seem pretty annoyed on sky news!
  10. Probably true John mate, but surely he could've got instructions onto the pitch? If he wanted Bentley to have goit nearer to Bellers for example then he could have.
  11. Wouldn't be 100% confident that we will play 4-4-2 guys: posted this in another thread but Hughes was on sky saying something along the lines of "it's not all about the formation to me, its about the players going out and knowing what they have to do". Cant remember the exact quote, but he obviously knows he's been getting stick off the fans and has defended it and denied that we amongst other clubs dont go out to win every match.
  12. Anybody been watching sky sports news? Their main headline is "Hughes and Pearce defend boring football" basically the pair of them saying that they go out EVERY game to win and Pearce stated that Citeh must win all their home games. Hughes also said somethign along the lines of "I don't think its down to what formation you play, more the players you have and whether they know whats expected of them". You couldn't get two more contrasting managers at present really could you! Citeh have played free flowing football and scored goals where as we couldnt hit a barn door and have played average at best.
  13. I think the most worrying thing for the club is that maybe Spurs and a fully fit Newcastle aside none of the teams whom weve played will get near the top five come the end of the season.
  14. Clearly the gap between the top four and the rest of the prem would widen even further if this were the case. But some kind of system where teams get rewarded for the more goals that they score could be an idea in an attempt to boost entertainment-particularly in the prem. West Ham have came up and had a real go at teams so far this season, if the rest of the prem aside from when playing the top four took this approach then it'd make for much better entertainment.
  15. Tooting Rover your spot on. I looked at last years fixtures and correct me if I'm wrong but it was probably against West Brom or Man City that we've come from one behind and equalised. On top of that again I stand to be corrected but under Hughes I'm pretty sure in a league game that we havnt yet come from behind to win. Talk about toothless and heads dropping.
  16. Didn't know where else to post it, but Michael Owen has noticed the changes in the premiership. He said that it's so much harder to score nowadays due to the defensive attitude of many prem managers. Therefore, fitting in with the theory of naff footie matches creating naff attendances.
  17. Afraid it's five without a goal 2-0 Utd
  18. I honestly think that the difference between Rovers being remotely entertaining, and a pile of dog terd to watch is Tugay. Like marmite love him or hate him-he creates chances and he gives away chances through his sometimes wayward passing. I remember a quote from jon Stead when he signed, he said "everytime I get a chance in training, I look up to see who played the ball and everytime it was Tugay". He will give away soppy passes, but with him and Savage in the middle is a must at home-even against the big teams I think. After all I swear Savage used to get forward and score goals for Brum?!
  19. As theno kinda said, you need to be as good as Dennis Bergkamp to pull of the "hole" role. Bentley should be tried on the right...he couldnt have done much worse than Emo or Reid.
  20. I agree with that, but who would you drop? Reid, Bentley or Sav?
  21. Come on lets not go overboard Paul, I mean 4-4-2! What a pathetic formation!
  22. What do you guys reckon? Give some of the players a rest (and no not a well earnt one) or play our best 11 in the hope that they get a little bit of confidence?
  23. Quote on Sky backs up pauls arguement, Hughes said "If either of them free kicks had gone in, we could have won comfortably. " Just sums up our chances really, proving that them 21 shots were probably crosses or lose balls. We're just like Everton last year we rely on set pieces or a freak chance to get goals, but with one exception...they won alot of games. I mentioned it earlier, but when was the last time we went behind and pulled level?
  24. Just over 20k, it was Bellamys home debut, the return of Souness and Shearers last ever aoppearance (cup permitting) at Ewood Park. Admitedly having commitments and living in Somerset I couldnt make it...but this is bad and it'l get a hell of a lot worse. I seriously doubt if we'll even get 27k+ against the likes of Utd and Chelsea. Fans want entertainment, wins and goals..and this is why they're turning away in my opinion. We have to show more ambition on the pitch.
  25. Dickovs tally of around 10 last season looks blimmin respectable! I think them figures of how many our strikers were going to score this season needs rethinking. If we do look as if were getting embroiled in a dog fight, then he will revert to becoming even more defensive as was the case last season when we climbed the table. Just think if somebody had told us before the start of the season that Darren Bent would have two more goals than our entire team after six games then he would've been whisked up in a white jacket.
