That *was* the January Window

No chance we'll be signing him permanently. Probably be in L1 next season. Why would he want to do another deal with these incompetent shysters? -
Where is that from? According to websites they are in talks with Michael Duff.
-
Playing Sigurdsson is effectively a 10 man team. He stands on the touchline passes backwards and runs off to hide. He gives his full back no cover. Hedges would be better but that's not saying much. Moran is completely lost in midfield at this level. Garrett or Buckley would be a marginal improvement. There are now plenty of options in central defence but again none look particularly attractive due to either a total lack of either pace or experience. Tomasson should be doing better with the squad currently available but it's difficult to polish turds.

We are going down (the pessimism thread)

Next season's team Pears Brittain O'Riordan Wharton Gent Buckley Garrett Markanday Telalovic Leonard Gilsenan plus a few free transfers and (even worse) loans than we have currently. -
Venkys would prefer losses reduced to lowish single figure millions and the opportunity to asset strip raising up to £50m including the Wharton fee. They can then sit back and forget all about the football club for several years. Kicking the can down the road has always been their modus operandi.

This is exactly what I've thought (and written) for some time now. Slashing the wage bill (even more drastically than in the last 3 years) would reduce the loss below £10m (even without the "solidarity" Prem payment/EFL tv money) and there could be more than £10m in player sales - JRC, Hyam, Carter, Travis, Szmodics, Dolan and Gallagher . Fill up the squad with free transfers and loans. Sell the STC for the £17m it was transferred to the Venkys company. Waggott carries on and get bonuses for his fine work as undertaker.
-
The defending for both goals was (yet again) shambolic. Chair (not for the first time) was shown inside which is exactly what he wants to get a shot off. For the second goal - where in God's name was the marking as the scorer was allowed to advance about 5 yards with the ball before shooting.

The latter for me. I look at the squad minus its only creative spark (sold) and its leading goalscorer (injured) and I don't see any chance. Might be better to go down this season and avoid another dire season in the Championship. Then again it's not likely to get any better in L1 under these disinterested and incompetent buffoons. -
If Palace are concerned about relegation (altough a points deduction for Forest should keep them up) I would say Wharton was not a player likely to shore them up particularly away from home.
-
Well he won't be signing an extension to play in L1. Same goes for Hyam.
-
No chance they're funding a £17m loss to get out of L1 next season . Mowbray talked them round but this time will be different particularly as the Indian Govt have upped the ante.
-
Nothing would change for the better with Johnson in charge.
-
He'll be rubbing his hands at the prospect of selling anything that moves following relegation. I have thought for some time now that it has always been Venkys plan to downsize the club in order to reduce the losses.
-
Of those only Eustace would even remotely consider joining this utter shitshow.
-
Stoke will win here next week.
-
It beggars belief that he was kept on until the end, Whatever the penalties they can't include that surely?
-
Do you think he even remotely cares?
-
Well they have the funds to pay compensation now.
-
Lose this and it'll be 2 points from the last 3 home games against 3 of the 4 worst teams in the league. Plus a fairly recent hammering at Sheff Weds. This would be a manager sacking at any other club.
-
Just a matter of time before QPR score. Can't see where even another 10 points are coming from. A poor squad but Jdt doesn't help by keep playing the useless Moran.
-
Scary. Moran is so weak and loses possession far more than wins it.
-
If he goes it will be like the chaos in 2012/13 and a freefall towards the relegation places. Also strong parallels with Lambert being lured in and finding that he gets none of the proceeds of the Rhodes sale. After 5 years of comparative calm under Mowbray it's back to the idiocy of the earlier days. Only chancers like Coyle will want to take over from Jdt.

Walstedt has played once for Sweden. The US hand out appearances very generously. Of course if he's young and in the scoring charts they'll have a look at him. He's the insurance when Gally pulls up with another calf strain. -

From what I've seen McGuire doesn't look physical (or "nasty") despite being tall and well built. Can't see him bullying centre backs in the Championship - so a bit like Gally. Doesn't appear to have impressive ball skills, hold up play or incisive first time passing. Not surprising for someone playing college soccer rather than going through a youth academy or the rough and tumble of non-league football here.. I suspect he's no better - or even as good - as Telalovic. It's just as well he's only coming on loan so he can be binned at the end of the season. -
So what "pivot plan" did JDT have if Wharton had got a season-ending injury? And how did he manage for the 29 matches that Wharton didn't start in last season? There's no certainty that a similar or better offer would have been received for Wharton in the summer and potential buyers would probably have held off until late August. Rumourred interest from Chelsea and Everton did not materialize probably because of their FFP concerns. Would that change in the summer?Tomasson's job is to get on and manage what he's got.
