  1. Yet another 2nd half implosion to throw away a lead as the opposition are allowed to score whenever they want. There is simply an inability to even compete at this level as several players - Williams, Bell, Evans, Smallwood, Armstrong, Lenihan, Brereton - are just not good enough.
  2. I would be. We had all the luck at Elland Road with a soft penalty, a free kick messed up by a shaky-lookinng keeper, Roofe hitting the angle and a fair numver of missed chances. I can see heads hitting the floor and with a manifest lack of fitness - clearly evident in the last 3 matches- giving the Blades an easy 3 points and probably a goal difference boost as well.
  3. OK so it might have been one goal in a total of 10 hours as a "not very super" substitute.
  4. Is there any level of inepitude that Mowbray would criticise? Also his assessment of the performance up to 90 mins is extremely rose-tinted as Rovers looked decidedly second-best in most areas. Only Raya, Dack, and, briefly, Reed matched Leeds in open play and Mulgrew from deadball kicks. Mowbray has a managerial track record of overseeing collapses after Xmas and this one has come early. Even at this point the 10 point gap from the bottom 3 looks wafer-thin and upcoming matches against Millwall (A) and Ipswich(H) are already looking like 6 pointers. Unfortunately Waggott and Venkys are so in love with Mowbray I suspect any recognition of his manifest limitations is likely to come too late.
  5. Mowbray doesn't even look bothered - witness his smiley chat with Bielsa at the end - and that attitude is reflected in so many of the spineless players - Bell, Williams, Evans and Smallwood to name just 4. Going nowhere except down with Mowbray. Time to pay up the contract and move on.
  6. Brereton is as as much of a lummox as Gladwin. TM seems to have a weakness for that type of player and at £7m it's a catastrophic mistake.
  7. Dave Wagstaffe Jan 1976 transformed a struggling team and excelled during 1977/78 season before Jim Iley binned him during the summer.
  8. It looks like Brereton will be classified in a list of previous "big signing" strikers who did diddlysquat (without the excuse of injury) such as George Jones, Kevin Davies, Grabbi, Kalinic and Goodwillie. A couple of those did well elsewhere after leaving and the others disappeared without trace.
  9. Brereton is looking like the Grabbi signing for £6m. Pretty much unheard of, did nothing and disappeared without trace. Very negligent top spend so much for so little.
  10. Absolutely terrible, clueless and lifeless performance. A good job there's an 8 point gap to the bottom 3 because looking at the remaining fixtures this month I don't see where the next point is coming from based on this evening's total no-show. The fact is that Rovers have been outplayed in large parts of many games and when the promotion gloss wears off they could easily fall into big trouble. Brereton offers nothing and it's hard to see why he's been signed at all never mind for £7m.
  11. Rovers budget puts them near the bottom of the transfer market food chain so need to wait for crumbs to fall from the Prem feasting table.
  12. ACL in February so definitely a runner at present.
  13. None of this season's promoted teams - Wolves, Cardiff, Fulham - have received parachute payments in their promotion season which blows a hole in Mowbray's theory. Even a team in its final (of 3 years) can't spend big because the following season their finances fall off a cliff.
  14. With gate receipts/commercial income of only £7m and TV money of £5m that implies a trading loss of more than £10m. Venkys won't have that.
  15. It comes to something when the debts at Sunderland (less than £100m) are considered to be large but still are much less than BRFC owes to Venkys. Even worse, Sunderland still have a Premier League potential that is a pipedream here. I don't see how the Venkys involvement is going to end in any way that is less than disastrous.
  16. A share price going up only brings in funds if the shares are sold and Venkys aren't going to do that and lose control of their own company. More relevant is how they are going to recover the £150m they have loaned to the club........
  17. He only looks effective when played centrally. A good finisher but lack of height means he certainly needs a partner. I suspect he can only be a sub in the Championship when chasing a game that's become stretched. Worth taking again on loan but not a purchase.
  18. Alot of plonkers too in Blue and White. Mulvaney and Sharples would make Elliott Ward look like lightening whilst Else and Harrison were both well past their best. Jones was only a lower league player. That team was relegated by Easter with a record low number of points.
  19. Continually bringing on an explosive player as a substitute after an hour sitting on a bench is asking for trouble.
