  1. Personally think that’s fanfare for Chileans. They love Bielsa and they love Brereton. Although that could go a different way too I suppose. Does direct running BB fit “Bielsa ball”? He still isn’t really a pass and mover and his first touch can be a bit off. Nowt that can’t be improved but I dont think he’s the striker to fire in the goals required to keep them in the Prem. might be wishful thinking.
  2. If you sell Brereton you may as well kiss the 3 out of contract lads goodbye and promotion whilst you are at it What sort of message does it send out? 2nd in the table and you sell the most in form player in January!! I think we should give up on teams like Newcastle when they are lining up boys like Trippier and Coutinho. Other than that I couldn’t think of another Prem club who need him except the bastard dingles and that ain’t happening
  3. If somebody tells me they want 10k for the piece of artwork that I feel is worth 1k then me not choosing to buy it doesn’t mean I can’t afford it. What it actually means is that I don’t believe it is value for money. I hold that value in a different regard to you When you purchase an asset you do so because of the value to you - whether material or otherwise. Someone may tell you it is worth that but really the only valuation that matters is the spender You might believe it blindingly obvious but I don’t think it is as clear cut. There’s a hell of a lot of players demanding money that the market cannot provide and Covid has really shown that up. Hence the vast amount of players sitting on contract offers throughout the leagues. In this case Ryan may think he’s worth breaking the managed wage structure we clearly have but our management team don’t think he is worth it. Could we break that? Probably. Do we want to? Evidently not We may not want to because we want to see where we are in the summer, or that we think we can get better value for our money elsewhere (like sparks northcote analogy), but to automatically assume that we cannot afford it means you are very open to meeting unrealistic demands and at its worst open to not actually achieving true value for money…such as eating at Northcote! It might simply be a case of we do not want to meet his wage demands because they don’t think he is a player worth paying 15/20k a week even if he and his agents do (hypothetical I don’t know his demands) I suppose the question is: do you think Nyambe is worth breaking the wage structure? Because by paying him x amount it will then bring up the market value of a Rovers contract, meaning players of similar quality / stature will expect a similar amount. I don’t personally think it is a black and white case of if we can afford Nyambe and I wouldn’t rule out the management team thinking he just isn’t worth what his demands are And even all the above aside it also may be a case of Nyambe believing he can play in a better league and wants to asses his options at the end of the year knowing he can leave on a free. Agents are advising this in the current climate of sky high transfer fees
  4. There’s a difference between not being able to afford him and somebody demanding more than they are worth None of us really know the offer on the table but we do know that a lot of clubs have players unwilling to sign new contracts. We also know the typical advice from agents is to sit tight and wait in the current climate
  5. Don’t, den, cos that’s exactly what will happen and we know it Form of our lives and this happens. Could see it coming the moment their gaffer got a positive test. I’m not one for conspiracy but i had a feeling they wouldn’t want this game, why would they, and you can’t help but feel we’ve been hard done by here
  6. I don’t get it Whether it’s playing Sunday mornings, or if injured down watching (no matter the weather), or getting to a Rovers game, I couldn’t think of much better ways of spending a day than watching the beautiful game I feel sorry for you. It must have been hell being a Rovers fan these past 10 years without a genuine love of the sport As my old man would say “you’d watch 11 snails play if you could” - he’s right. Sounds cheesy but the actual game of football is just brilliant, regardless of what you may think of other aspects of the sport itself edit - just saw your post about being pissed. Fair play, I’ll join you on that one 🍻😄🎄
  7. They are happening despite all of what you say. If it was better managed you would see less problems. Clubs like Borrusia Dortmund have an entire stand that release flares and smoke bombs every single game. You don’t see their fans dropping down with breathing difficulties game after game. That is because it is managed, with the club, in a sensible fashion. You also see a greatly improved atmosphere at German games than you do in modern English football. Like it or not that is the perception. I couldn’t see the JW stand embracing it so if you value views above all else I would definitely be sitting in that stand hence the bigger price.
  8. Smoke bombs are used in everything from wedding photos to fantastic displays organised by fans across European football grounds Harmless at its very purest definition is wrong, but I wouldn’t say they are dangerous Flares are different and I do accept that. They need to be used by responsible people. Though in German / Dutch clubs they are organised with the club, and therefore health and safety better managed. As usual in the U.K. we are firmly of the “stick” and not the carrot. Instead pretending strict prohibition of these items will work, even in the face of evidence that it doesn’t, and so those unfortunate accidents will continue to happen Like it or not pyrotechnics will continue to be used in football grounds. At home there’s 4 stands and they won’t be used in the JW or Riverside so I would be sitting there if I didn’t want them. When away it will continue to happen and it’s more difficult to avoid. It needs to be better managed like it is around other major leagues.
  9. They need to chill out The atmosphere has been getting better and better. Smoke bombs are harmless. Go to a match in Europe they are everywhere
  10. Chaddy do me a favour and don’t mention wide forward just in case Mr Mowbray sees The 3-5-2 is working wonders with Brereton and Khadra starting centrally and being allowed to drift. Them starting out wide and drifting inwards led to some terrible football if you ask me. If he moves away from this formation and this squad (barring injuries) I’ll lose my shit
  11. And any opinion can be challenged tbf Biz We all know it’s absolute nonsense. You can only judge an opinion on who it has come from and form tells us he couldn’t spot a player to save his life. Whether it is saying Mols is better than Buckley, or Dolan is no good, or a 15 year old is better than Clarkson, we might try and justify that madness with being on the wind up but the reality might just be that the football knowledge just isn’t there. If you put forward such outlandish opinions you simply have to accept they’ll be dismissed as a nonsense.
  12. Mowbray should have been sacked in the 17 game run at the back end of last season. It was horrible to watch. But he didn’t and he has managed to turn things around. Ill eat the humble pie and say I’d have sacked him but I have been proven wrong. No biggy. I’m not a CEO. I still believe TM would have gone at any other club. Yet here we are now, 3rd in the league and with a squad that is brilliant to watch. That might not be happening if we had sacked Mowbray because the alternative could have been a bad choice. Mowbray still has the job to do of convincing the players to sign up. If he can’t sell it to them on the back of this form then there’s problems.
  13. Lovely stuff. This team is frightening. Relentless hounding, shithousery throughout and a touch of class to really put the cherry on top. We can win this league. Cmon Rovers!!!
  14. Our openers are as poor as I have seen. Burns action is just all wrong imo, it is exactly what they teach youngsters not to do. The way he brings his bat down screams “edge me!!!” Hameed just isn’t test standard. Plays some nice shots and can hang around but he’ll give his wicket away time and time again We need a Root and Malan masterclass tomorrow. If they can knock 100 a piece it will give us some hope with Stokes, Pope and Butler to follow. Butler owes us. Ive woke up both mornings to watch that tripe. Don’t know why I bother.
  15. Not wanting to lockdown every time there’s a new variant is probably pretty society orientated Looks like you have jumped in with two feet driven through anger around the virus and its effects but to be perfectly truthful it is quite self-absorbed to be assuming everybody that doesn’t agree with your method of dealing with Covid-19 doesn’t give a damn The bloke you quoted has just said he’s had his jabs and boosters - what more do you want from him? The government and their expert advisors are telling us it is safe to attend events if they do everything Chaddy has done, yet here you are calling him self centred This “discussion” is becoming silly. It’s not up to the fans to make decisions on other people’s health. If they are told it is safe to attend then it is quite ok if they do; if you do not feel safe then make your own decision and don’t attend By then attempting to claim chaddy was “wrong” about the vaccines defeating the virus is just you playing the man. Literally every public health expert in the world told us vaccination was the solution - if it isn’t then it isn’t chaddy who is wrong but the people who have told him it’s the answer. Chill out.
  16. We have taken risks on players before and it has worked out. Santa Cruz, Benni and Bellamy all had bad injury records prior to arriving at Ewood!
  17. And to top it off 4 clean sheets in a row Wtf
  18. I personally think the Ipswich link is lazy journalism I would be very very surprised if we see him leave the club. On the plus side it would save us a few more dreary seasons and if the links with Neil are also still true then a manager with a recent record of promotion has a 4th place side full of beans to walk into If anything, as silly as it sounds, it could be the perfect time to attract a serious manager
  19. Grow up you WUM No fan bets against his own team
  20. This has to be one of the most remarkable turn arounds in my Rovers memory I remember Bale turning from the worst left back in the country to the best winger in the world and it certainly feels a similar story with Brereton, although a few steps lower obviously
  21. Hibernian should be very careful what they wish for. I don’t wish ill will against people but I would make a special exception for the likes of Kean and Anderson Kean is first and foremost an opportunist. There’s no doubting his ability as a coach, backed by some high end professionals, but ambition can always get the better of men. It certainly did for him If the rumours of Hibs struggling in recruitment and even having owners taking an unusual role in that then I would not be surprised if that is the angle him and his boys have. It also wouldn’t surprise me at all if “king of transfers” Jim White knew about the dealings of Kean and SEM If I saw Steve Kean in the street I’d cross the road. Not because I’m scared of him but because the thought of being close to that creature turns your stomach Good luck Hibs, it could be a bumpy ride…especially now he has “ex manager” in his CV. It won’t look as much of a stitch up job now! But if he can stitch up Williams and Big Sam he could definitely stitch up Jack Ross and whoever Hibs has running their club
  22. I think to a man we were brilliant today. One of my favourite performances in recent memory. The pace of our attack was frightening. Brereton has to be offered a new contract as soon as possible. The way he can turn and run with the ball scares defenders and now he believes in himself he can single handedly take the game to the opposition. Poveda, Khadra and Buckley all looked terrific up front. Buckley is really good at winning possession up high. The vision Poveda and Buckley had was next to none. Shame about Khadra end product on occasion but he’s another who frightens defenders to bits. Only has to drop his shoulder and he’s usually past them. Imo big shout out to Travis and Davenport. They won the midfield battle against Fleck and Norwood which is no easy feat. I’ve thought they look good together before so I hope it becomes a more consistent midfield for us Welcome back Scotty Wharton. You are some player. Daniel Ayala who?
  23. Brings the young lads on to get a spanking Jesus fuck, we are bad today Van Hecke needs to realise he ain’t Van Dam the absolute maniac
  24. I do get the suspicion and I am firmly of the belief this lot are no good for us, but on this occasion I have to agree with the likes of Rev that this really doesn’t appear to be a controversial move As RoverCanadas post indicates we would still have fallen foul of the FFP rules without this sale. It does tally up with the late accounting and one would have to assume they were working out the realistic sale of the training ground land with the required amount to balance the books For what it’s worth I am of the belief they knew they needed a cash injection above what they were initially prepared to put in, hence the proposed sale of the ground. This training ground financial move cements in my mind that the Venkys knew everything about the housing development proposal. Once they realised the public outcry they resorted to plan b - stump the money up themselves. This does leave us in the precarious position of the club being able to be sold without the rights to the training facility. So Venkys could sell BRFC for peanuts, but then hold them to ransom on the training ground rent and ultimately price them out. They may then have grounds to remove covenants and build residential property on it although that will also be met with fierce opposition. But in terms of the short term the same company owns both Rovers and the ground and one would have to assume to make either asset desirable you would have to sell both togetheR. I certainly don’t think they’ll be able to sell the STC to housing developers whilst still owning Rovers. And a real hypothetical situation - would you lose the STC land in order to rid Venkys from Rovers? Curious as to people’s answers on that one
