Clubs like Borrusia Dortmund have an entire stand that release flares and smoke bombs every single game. You don’t see their fans dropping down with breathing difficulties game after game. That is because it is managed, with the club, in a sensible fashion. You also see a greatly improved atmosphere at German games than you do in modern English football. Like it or not that is the perception. I couldn’t see the JW stand embracing it so if you value views above all else I would definitely be sitting in that stand hence the bigger price.

They need to be used by responsible people. Though in German / Dutch clubs they are organised with the club, and therefore health and safety better managed. As usual in the U.K. we are firmly of the “stick” and not the carrot. Instead pretending strict prohibition of these items will work, even in the face of evidence that it doesn’t, and so those unfortunate accidents will continue to happen Like it or not pyrotechnics will continue to be used in football grounds. At home there’s 4 stands and they won’t be used in the JW or Riverside so I would be sitting there if I didn’t want them. When away it will continue to happen and it’s more difficult to avoid. It needs to be better managed like it is around other major leagues.

Mowbray should have been sacked in the 17 game run at the back end of last season. It was horrible to watch. But he didn’t and he has managed to turn things around. Ill eat the humble pie and say I’d have sacked him but I have been proven wrong. No biggy. I’m not a CEO. I still believe TM would have gone at any other club. Yet here we are now, 3rd in the league and with a squad that is brilliant to watch. That might not be happening if we had sacked Mowbray because the alternative could have been a bad choice. Mowbray still has the job to do of convincing the players to sign up. If he can’t sell it to them on the back of this form then there’s problems.

Our openers are as poor as I have seen. Burns action is just all wrong imo, it is exactly what they teach youngsters not to do. I personally think the Ipswich link is lazy journalism I would be very very surprised if we see him leave the club. Hibernian should be very careful what they wish for. I don’t wish ill will against people but I would make a special exception for the likes of Kean and Anderson Kean is first and foremost an opportunist. There’s no doubting his ability as a coach, backed by some high end professionals, but ambition can always get the better of men. It certainly did for him If the rumours of Hibs struggling in recruitment and even having owners taking an unusual role in that then I would not be surprised if that is the angle him and his boys have. I think to a man we were brilliant today. One of my favourite performances in recent memory. The pace of our attack was frightening. Brereton has to be offered a new contract as soon as possible. The way he can turn and run with the ball scares defenders and now he believes in himself he can single handedly take the game to the opposition. Poveda, Khadra and Buckley all looked terrific up front. Buckley is really good at winning possession up high. The vision Poveda and Buckley had was next to none. Shame about Khadra end product on occasion but he’s another who frightens defenders to bits. Only has to drop his shoulder and he’s usually past them. Imo big shout out to Travis and Davenport. They won the midfield battle against Fleck and Norwood which is no easy feat. I’ve thought they look good together before so I hope it becomes a more consistent midfield for us Welcome back Scotty Wharton. You are some player. Daniel Ayala who?

I do get the suspicion and I am firmly of the belief this lot are no good for us, but on this occasion I have to agree with the likes of Rev that this really doesn’t appear to be a controversial move As RoverCanadas post indicates we would still have fallen foul of the FFP rules without this sale. It does tally up with the late accounting and one would have to assume they were working out the realistic sale of the training ground land with the required amount to balance the books For what it’s worth I am of the belief they knew they needed a cash injection above what they were initially prepared to put in, hence the proposed sale of the ground. This training ground financial move cements in my mind that the Venkys knew everything about the housing development proposal. Once they realised the public outcry they resorted to plan b - stump the money up themselves. This does leave us in the precarious position of the club being able to be sold without the rights to the training facility. So Venkys could sell BRFC for peanuts, but then hold them to ransom on the training ground rent and ultimately price them out. They may then have grounds to remove covenants and build residential property on it although that will also be met with fierce opposition. But in terms of the short term the same company owns both Rovers and the ground and one would have to assume to make either asset desirable you would have to sell both togetheR. I certainly don’t think they’ll be able to sell the STC to housing developers whilst still owning Rovers. And a real hypothetical situation - would you lose the STC land in order to rid Venkys from Rovers? Curious as to people’s answers on that one

Why would the idea of Waggott and Mowbray trying to convince the owners to sell the training ground for their own personal profit be “beyond conspiracy” If anything it is exactly what opportunists do. They find some naive company with they can influence and directly benefit themselves in the process Given Waggot has form (three training grounds now is it including ours?) I would say dismissing it as “beyond conspiracy” is in actual fact laughable
