  1. I couldn't care less if Dack nearly went to to prison as long as he keeps banging goals in whilst wearing Rovers colours. I hope this archaic need for social justice doesn't spill into any (minority I'm sure) fans booing him or anything like that. Social media tends to bring to light the frothing of the mouth types who pray for the days we lock minor criminals up for 35 years in isolation or make utter social pariahs of anyone who has made mistakes. Until, of course, a member of their own inner circle make those same mistakes.......but I digress Dack is the most exciting player we have had for half a decade - we should support him more than berate him. He's a grown man and I'm sure his own conscience tells him he's been an idiot. Likewise I'm certain Mowbray, Mulgrew and the other dressing room characters have told him what is at stake. He doesn't need us to constantly remind him of the silly situation he has been in. I for one hope he receives a rapturous reception on Saturday so the whole audience on Sky sees that he's wanted at this club despite his off the field troubles.
  2. Having watched Nyambe over the course of 2 and a half years you have to admit he has dramatically improved. He's learnt to use his strength and pace far more effectively. He's poor in the air but so are most full backs - it's why attackers try and pull back in order to be challenging them in the air. That said he isn't the worst header of a ball in history so his weak point isn't terrible He's not a Premier League player. Not yet at least. He's playing at the level he deserves to be playing at, just like he was doing last season. He came on leaps and bounds in League 1 so I'm hoping for the same this season. His arc of progession, if you will, has been brilliant and similar progress will see him become a very good full back for us in the coming years
  3. It wasn't the lack of talent Gladwin shown that completely irritated me it was the lazy way in which he went out about it. He would half arsed jump for a header or close the ball down. Then when he eventually got the ball at his feet, in a place where you'd expect he could do some damage, he continued in that lethargic manner. A poorly disguised pass or a naive attempt to beat his man when a simpler ball, which if executed with actual conviction, was on. He definitely reminded me a bit of the "could have made it" lads who play down Pleasington. A show pony with no real understanding of the game or the importance of team work. Finally, I will never forgive him for his lack of application in our humiliating defeat to Burnley. Yes, they were a side put together with the PL millions but there were players on that pitch that didn't understand the gravity of that situation. A tactic employed by Mowbray that game was for Raya to hit Gladwin whilst he competed for the header against Phil Bardsley. Makes sense - Bardsley is in his 30s and about half a foot smaller than Gladwin. Bardsley won more or less every header and the couple that Gladwin won one went out of play and the other straight to Brady. He wasn't bothered.
  4. Villa's back 4 have to be among the worst in the league at the moment and we are at home. Attacking them has to be the priority. I want to see us get at them, turn them out of shape. We have a great attacking dynamic and can switch our front 4 pretty much at will if we want. Turn em inside out
  5. Half the time you asked how he performed because you hadn't seen him play yourself. When answered you tried your upmost best to bring out the negatives of it. Boring.
  6. The worry about the Olympiakos situation is if there's something in place to stop abuse of this happening. As an example: if Forest want to sign a player but FFP doesn't let them can he not use Olympiakos' funds to sign/loan or release? Is it possible to have a selling team wage contribution? What is to stop Olympiakos paying over the odds for a Forest player to exempt them FFP? I haven't read the rules, and probably won't, but you have to hope there's rules in place to prevent these abuses. That said, releasing and resigning a player is surely already an abuse of ownership.
  7. Jesus Dack has been to a lot of BBQs........
  8. Yup. Completely in isolation of each other. A young lad having a photo taken with friends is not, in any way shape or form, going to look detrimental to him in a court case. Him not turning up 3 times will. I hope it was a case of childish naivety like AAK alluded to and not a case of thinking he's above the law
  9. What like AAK? Dack needs to understand footballers do live in reality. If you do the crime, do the time. Silly not to attend your community service. Big fine coming his way by the club I hope and some discipline handed down by Conway Mulgrew etc.
  10. Where have I said or insinuated that he doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt? Besides, there's a huge difference between (allegedly) refusing to take your place on the bench and simply being injured and still living a normal human life! Not like you to take context away from a situation in which you want to point score though.. As K-Hod said, the truth will be somewhere inbetween. I'm actually quite happy the youngster is banging on the door for more football. I'm not happy if the rumour he refused to be on the bench is true though. EDIT: Isn't it also interesting that that you want to give this youth the "benefit of the doubt" for his entitled beliefs but spent yesterday slamming the generation he's from for exactly that. "Interesting"......or weird?
  11. Hope it's not a case of Evans playing for a contract over a team. He isn't the same player that we have seen the last few years that's for sure.
  12. You would suspect not. I like Smallwood but I don't think he's good enough for this level. Thank him for his fantastic services and let him get onto a club where he can be a central figure again next summer. He did his job and did it well.
  13. I'd suspect Smallwood's reign as King is coming to an end. Long live the King
  14. Without a doubt man. Seems odd that Travis has this idea he's going to be playing a lot of games. We invested heavily in midfield this season so is he expecting to unseat Nyambe? Or does he consider himself better than our current midfielders? A handy player and great potential. I hope he controls his temper though.
  15. Ah. My bad. I had a phone call last night and this came up. He's usually reliable but didn't know it had made the paper! I'm very much inclined to believe he spent the weekend out with his girlfriend as opposed to "being given time off" too.
  16. Heard rumours of a small bust up between Travis and Mowbray on Saturday night. Apparently Travis is disappointed not to be getting the game time promised when he could have gone out to Port Vale on loan and play every game! Supposed to have gone to Mowbray when he found out he wasn't in the starting 11 voicing his discontent and spent the night out with his girlfriend rather than go on the subs' bench! (She is a bit of alreyt mind you) Anyone with any more knowledge of this?
  17. Is Williams all that much better defensively? He's never really filled me with confidence and tends to get skinned quite a lot. In terms of being a wing back you'd prefer to have Bell. He can beat a man, cross a ball and has the pace to get back in. You are right though - with a very attack minded Palmer he looked exposed. Didn't he get player of the year in league 1 after spending most of it in the wing-back position as part of a back 5? You can tell he's more comfortable further forward. There's always little moments in a game like that for every player. I'm talking generally. He doesn't show near enough for a modern full back in my opinion. Besides, anyway, I hope you agree with the fact that in order for Tony's plan of rebuilding a team challenging for promotion left back/centre back is a position to strengthen!
  18. You'd imagine a centre half is next on the shopping list. We desperately need a forward this summer as Graham's days are numbered hence the spend on a young lad with potential. He's here now and the next player needing replacing is Mulgrew. He is a class act but we have to be realistic and acknowledge he's in the twilight of his career. You can get a very good centre back for £7-10m.
  19. Ah but this seems to be picking up far more than the odd cross and tackle. In terms of positional awareness Williams is one of the worst out there. Keep an eye out next time he plays. Good players make themselves available for the pass - create an angle for it. Williams doesn't. He leaves people under pressure. Then when he does get the ball he usually brings it back inside and kills momentum. The easy ball they call it. Then, because of his desire to come inside, he's often found wanting if a break happens and the right wing open for the opposition. The weak link in our back 4 is definitely our left back.
  20. This is quite useful. Fair play to you. Be interesting to see the stats of Williams in a game. He has this reputation as a steady Eddy somehow but he's nothing of the sort. That said Bell isn't of much use either. A weak area for sure.
  21. It goes back to the need of a top defender. Boro and Leeds should come 1st and 2nd in this league because their defence is by far better than others. Their goals against column indicates that. It's worth noting though that we haven't conceded more than others around us. We are showing the hallmarks of a good side but still need a few more key players in areas of the pitch to push on. As Parsons has said - this squad is a midtable championship side. Villa, Derby & Stoke is an incredibly tough run but any game in this league is winnable as has been shown. We will be okay this season that's for sure.
  22. One of Dack's friends put a Snapchat story up of him beating Samuel at FIFA. Absolutely outrageous really. I thought he was injured? If you saw the way he was moving his thumbs you'd have to say his heart is obviously more into his ultimate team than it is Blackburn Rovers. The way he was sat too. My God. The boy was bending his bleeding knees. Where's the bag of frozen peas? His crutch? He's injured for Christ sake why isn't he sat in silence with a thermometer in his mouth? The bloody youth of today. He even had the nerve to crack a smile when he scored. How he can manage to move his facial muscles when he can't play a game of football is beyond me. I can only imagine this is shattering news to the likes of Mulgrew and Graham. Quite how we can expect them to piece together the remnants of our team morale I don't know. If we are to succeed in this league we need to ban FIFA, fun and the entitled youth. Back in the 70s and 80s if a player was injured he'd sleep in the damn dressing room until he was fit to play again! Ignore the fact that footballers used to drink, gamble and go out clubbing win lose or daw back then.
  23. Where will Rovers finish this season? : 12th Player of the Year : Bradley Dack Young Player of the Year: Armstrong Top Goalscorer: Bradley Dack Championship Promoted : Leeds, Boro, Villa Championship Relegated : QPR, Birmingham City and Rotherham Dark Horse : Sheffield United Miscellaneous: Mowbray places Dack under house after 7pm every night to protect team morale and not rub anyones noses in it.
  24. Exactly this. In the first half we made Bristol look ordinary. Keep in mind that this is a team that has kept home clean sheets consistently over the space of a year. We could have had 3 had the Palmer and Armstrong chances got put away. We also had some half chances where we broke and just didn't have the quality in the final 3rd to put it in the back of the net. The Elliot Bennett long range effort springs to mind. The huge difference came when Bristol had us on the break and put it away. They had more quality than us and it showed. This league is tough. We shouldn't be under any illusion that Bristol City away is an easy game. 4-1 in the end flattered them considering the first half performance. Yesterday was a lesson in putting away our chances. At 3-0 the game would have been ours to lose but going in at 1-1 must have been deflating and it showed.
  25. Dack may have had instruction not to travel. He's been there every home game whilst injured. Besides, it's irrelevant. It's an argument beyond stupidity. It had no impact on the result at all. Whatever Dack wants to do on a friday night is up to him so long as it doesn't impact on the result or his own performance. You are being outraged for no reason.
