v Reading (a) - 17/8/22 - Mark 1

Funnily enough it was Reading -
To be honest I wouldn't have a massive issue with that - it doesn't really matter who or where the ideas come from as long as they benefit the club and the supporters. I guess it also means that he/the club is listening.

Football Ground Trivia ...

I know quite a few Clarets who have been going to see Weller in his various guises for 45 years now. It just goes to prove that you can't have good taste in everything 😉 -
Football Ground Trivia ...

It is pretty close and you are probably only really talking about yards of a difference between Raith, Arbroath, Inverness Caley and Grimsby. I think Peterhead is close too if I remember correctly. -
Football Terminology
oldjamfan1 replied to roversfan99's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The xG thing you have described (very eloquently I may add) is pretty much what @arbitro and I were discussing yesterday, albeit without using the terminology. All 6 of our league goals so far this season have been 'worldies' and you do doubt whether that is sustainable, so we need a few scruffy goals and penalties and to score them you have to create chances. -

It was me who described the Blades game as a ‘free hit’. If you think it means the same as writing it off I think you must have gone to a different school to me. -

Spot on mate, it was pretty obvious what he meant, wasn't it. -

No, certainly nothing to fear from them, I just meant absolutely pressure-free in the sense that if we lost that game then 9 points from 4 games would still constitute a decent return. -
Ashley Phillips - signs a new deal

But even paying him decent championship wages would constitute eye watering amounts of money for a 17 year old and would in all probability set him up for life anyway. What are we talking about 10-15k per week? The only way he ends up earning peanuts before getting a job in a bar is if he gets injured during the next 9 months while still on a scholar's contract. To me, its in his interests financially to sign a contract with Rovers now rather than risk it all. -
What a shitter. RIP Len.

Yeah I mentioned ICT earlier Mark, you can see the sea behind one of the stands when they are on telly, and the lad who was murdered on Nuttall Street was a Darwen boy, I remember him and his brother Adrian from St Eddie's Youth Club. -

I see our former manager Mr Souness has upset a few with his comments at the weekend. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/62548431 God only knows what they would have made of his "We can only wee with the willy we've got" line ha ha -

It will be an unchanged starting line-up, unless JDT fancies freshening things up at the offensive end of the pitch. The form book suggests that Rovers will win by the odd goal, but Reading has always been a bit of a bogey place for us and from what I saw of their game on Saturday they are due a bit of luck, so it is definitely a banana skin. Ah fuck it, 1-2 (Diaz and Dack off the bench) and a free hit at Bramall Lane at the weekend. -
Only one song at the end (after a win) for me: I Never Felt More Like Singing the Blues.

I'm pretty sure only one of these allegations is true Gav. One of my colleagues was at the show and reckoned the 'penis reveal' thing was - forgive the pun - a sleight of hand or an illusion of some kind. Just what were people expecting from Jerry Sadowitz?

I think you make a fair general point but it was bloody stiflingly hot yesterday, which may have impacted on the 'leggy' appearance. Edit: booth just beat me to it. -

I agree that there is a risk attached but a blind man on a galloping horse can see the dynamics at play here and I'm not sure the players you have mentioned would be livid tbh. He is clearly a precocious talent. Let's put it this way if he fucked off to Spurs and we missed out on promotion because we were short of a quality defender they'd be pretty livid at not getting their big promotion bonus wouldn't they? -
Football Ground Trivia ...

Yeah the way the question is worded I would probably go with either Inverness Caley Thistle or Grimsby. Blackpool must be pretty close too. -
Simply the Best has been used by Rangers for many a year now Mike, so that one is a no from me :)

Spot on. He's not my cup of tea (neither is Frankie Boyle although in 'real life' Frankie is actually a lovely fella) but the whole point of the Fringe is being missed and what were people turning up expecting anyway?
