  1. Come on, this is Mani, he's on par with chaddy and Gavin for the delusional tripe.
  2. No doubt about it, it's the defence and the defence only. Combined with a poor defensive midfield. Smallwood today at times tracking back was embarrassing
  3. When bringing up the stats of our dropped points this season, it was said that stat was pointless. Well I bring it up again, now 16 points dropped from winning positions (nearly 18 stoke game) that's the most in the league, it's becoming a bit a joke now, and highlights the poor transfer window, of which defenders were and still are needed and a replacement for Smallwood.
  4. It's simple, make season tickets really cheap for one season to entice people back. Show you want them back. Bit like Huddersfield and Forest, worked for them as below, average attendances. Huddersfield 15/16 -12,631 Huddersfield 16/17 with cheap tickets - 20,165 Forest 17/18 - 19,000 Forest 18/19 with cheap tickets - 27,699 In both cases added 8-9 thousand to average attendance. If that happened to us we would be averaging around 20k, similar to our division one seasons after being relegated in 1999.
  5. Get the free ticket and give it to someone on facebook or something pal, someone who maybe can't afford tickets.
  6. Few of us who went, had only been one home game this season, some none, but went preston, quite a few who go away games From Craven in Darwen don't go home games.
  7. I think it's quite relevant to highlight the fact we can't defend very well especially in the majority of games that we take early leads, we seems to worry and sit back and it's costing us. But with the defenders we have and the lack proper wingers who would maybe make that system work I suppose its to be expected.
  8. The disappointing thing is, we've now led at half time at Swansea, Bristol, Boro and Ipswich and won none of them, losing 2 convincingly and we so nearly let a 3-0 lead end up 3-3 if it wasn't for a penalty miss from Stoke. At home we've conceded late equalisers at home to Villa and Forest. 14 points (nearly 16) dropped when being in control but then losing that mentality to go and win the game and instead sitting back.
  9. Bristol city hammered us 4-1.
  10. Yeah boro ten men and mulgrew scored from resulting free kick.
  11. In some ways though even better, few hours around Newcastle in afternoon, and then onto the match.
  12. Seems strange, but have been offered some good money. I remember this happening in Uefa Cup against Leverkusen, all kicks off in Uefa Cup that year were 19:45 but German TV paid a shed load for the game so it kicked off at 17:30, affecting attendance, still got 20k on mind.
  13. £10 Adults and £5 juniors. Great pricing, should see a couple of thousand going up if not more.
  14. VInjay, please don't start on the Walkers, AGAIN pal.
  15. They're 'half' rectifying their own scandalous mismanagement, of a club that was the best run club in the country before they arrived. Look around, empty stadium, some poor players, still a lot on tension in the stands between fans who have forgive and fans who haven't, £140 million in debt or whatever it is, no attempts to get fans back by way of a proper apology which would be to reduce prices even if for one season, don't turn up like cowards - that's all their doing and their attitude. As much as Tony and Steve like to lead us to believe that everything is great and they were just a bit silly, a lot of us aren't having it. No welcome from 50% of fans I would say.
  16. Boro in talks with Ruben Rochina, be interested to see how he does there if they sign him.
  17. Agree for now pal. Lenihan I still think would be a better defensive midfielder personally pal.
  18. HaHa he has, don't get me wrong, I am not calling Downing thought he did pretty well, but he is limited and we can't rely on him full time going forward.
  19. Good performance, Conway I was surprised with, lasting the 90 and was man of the match contender. He's never lost that ability to cross a ball, probably the only player at the club who can, made a claim for a permanent spot today. Downing good distribution from the back. However still conceding 2 was a downer, bit harsh I know, but to be conceding another 2 after a 4 and a 3 is worrying, really need someone to shore that defence up as we won't be able to score 3 or 4 to win games all that much. All in all though very good performance.
  20. Only difference being, Short was built like a tank, Downing is built like Rodney Trotter.
  21. No it will be reed out of position again. Meaning our two wingers are reed amd conway, what completely out of position and the other who can't run and will be knackered after 30 minuts. So everything will go central as usual which becomes very predictable, meaning Smallwood will get a lot of the ball, and do absolutely nothing with it bar giving it back to the opposition.
  22. What is telling for me is the following. Last season I felt Rovers and Wigan were very evenly match in terms of quality of player and squad strength, and both fixtures with each other were draws. Then came the summer, which is were Wigan made a bigger impact than us, in terms of buying the right players. Us We needed wingers, a centre back, an out and out striker, a full back a replacement for Smallwood and a creative midfielder. In came; Armstrong - nobody knows his best position, DIDN'T NEED Brereton - £7million on a striker that never plays DEBATEABLE Rodwell - a free central midfielder who plays centre back, DIDN'T NEED Rothwell - one who could be that creative midfielder, a nice looking player, but doesn't play ONE WE DID NEED BUT DOESN'T PLAY Palmer - similar to Armstrong, nobody knows his best position, DIDN'T NEED Davenport - can't comment Reed - the replacement needed for smallwood, but doesn't replace him and crazily place right midfield - DO NEED but not used correctly So I would say, 2 maybe 3 we did need and have or could be effective. Wigan Needed new full backs, a creative midfielders, some wingers, central midfielder after letting Power leave, and a centre forward, similar to us bar the centre half, in came; Dan Burn Full back from Brighton, good player, plays in correct position - NEEDED and good signing Reece James, full back from chelsea, tidy defender, can get forward when needed, plays in correct position - NEEDED and good signing Josh Windass, attacking midfielder, creative, good on the ball, plays in correct position - NEEDED and good signing Mcmanaman, winger, pacey, can beat a man and capable of bagging a few, plays in correct position - NEEDED and good signing Lee Evans, central midfielder, tidy on the ball, get's his foot in, plays in correct position - NEEDED and good signing All 5 they did need and are effective going off last night. Think that sums it up for me, they've made signings they needed, play them in their correct positions and they are effective. Last night they looked a far better side than us. Yes we are still above them, but I have no doubt they will finish above us if we don't significantly strengthen the squad, and if we do strengthen, actually play them and in their correct positions.
  23. Have to agree. I argued with people on here about this before, and got told he was player of the season when coyle was here, my response was well that just shows how shit we really were.
  24. Also didn't think I'd say this, but I think samuel is missed at the moment for an option off the bench, with his pace which he sometimes uses well out wide and on the counter and his physicality. I know he's not a goalscorer but at least that type of option is there if we are going to play long hoof ball
