  1. To be fair - he was a promising signing (came with good reviews) but not all players kick on, but these are the sort of signings that can work out and help us find a real gem.
  2. When does he become a free agent? Isn't it any day now?
  3. It makes a huge difference to smaller clubs when they get a bigger team friendly. I do think more of the PL clubs should make the effort - a sell out, secondary spend and a chance to show locals the ground is often the biggest cash injection of the season. It is a credit to Rovers that they have always been good to do this.
  4. My first ever match mid 80's! Both now in pretty much the same position!
  5. Presumably the offers (or just enquiries) aren't huge to purchase the club (we lose circa £20-£30m a season), limited / poor (potential) attendances etc - it doesn't scream big offer, so perhaps it is a simple as they are wanting a bigger return? Or perhaps they worry it could influence the outcome of the court case?
  6. Both in and out of the team, injuries, difficult loan spell already... Hard to see clubs queuing up, but if they knuckled down and kept fit them are good squad players. Suspect will be with us right up to the transfer window closes and then off to Scotland on loan.
  7. I am relaxed whether he stays or goes - he would have signed a contract had his asks not be too great. If a 'bigger' club can match his expectations then fair enough, but whilst I think he is a decent Championship player I wouldn't want us to use too much of our limited wage budget.
  8. Oh dear... The club should be doing promotional leaflets around Blackburn and local areas - delivered by the Royal Mail promoting them. (Include sponsors in the mailing and that will cover the costs). I have seen a few clubs really push the season tickets like this with good returns. (I have fed this idea into the club a few times).
  9. Yes - one of best signings - good times!
  10. Yes - 22 league defeats, which in every other season of the PL would have seen them relegated.
  11. Anyone know how the season tickets are going compared to last year?
  12. To be fair, it is a good way of helping the smaller local clubs - £2k (or whatever fee is agreed) soon adds up and helps their budget.
  13. Okay - thank you to everyone who has responded. On the losses, I listen to the 'Price of Football' podcast and they have set out how even the best run Championship clubs (better run, bigger gates than us etc) still lose significant money - so whoever took over will need deep pockets to even standstill.
  14. Genuine question... If the protests / banners / letters / video messages actually worked and the Venky's walked - what's the plan to cover the annual £20-£30m loss? Genuine question, is there an actual plan? Do the Supporter Groups have an alternative owner lined up, or is it just a case of accepting whatever?
  15. How do I convince my Burnley supporting wife that we should have a 'random' trip to Alicante then!
  16. Out of interest, where do you think Vale will end up? League One / Two, or back to Scotland?
  17. Markandy is a strange one - came to us with high expectations, with only fleeting glimpses. Prospered on loan, but unlike others hasn't returned to boost our squad. Presume he will be snapped up by a League One team.
  18. It's almost as exciting as waiting for the fixture list to be announced!
  19. Yes - a real downside of the ever changing kick off times is for many this messes up transport. Is it worth (on these forums somewhere?) seeing if there someone near you who would carshare to matches? I live in Swindon and I did that years ago on here and someone messaged me and I was able to get to a few more games.
  20. So many football clubs have delays waiting for their new kits - you'd think the suppliers would produce some in advance, rather than try to make them all over the summer?!
  21. As the WSL are increasing (perhaps understandably) the requirements, the the costs will have jumped - which against our very poor attendance figures is the nub of problem we presume? Yes, poor comms from the club, they should have shared the position / challenge. Now, the 'Supporters Coalition' has called for action, presumably many don't want to see the team disappear. So perhaps the middle ground would be if there is a big jump in the costs, then the club could match whatever extra 'raise' through extra season tickets etc. People understandably want to rally around, so let them.
  22. WBA v Blackburn 21st March 1987. We won 1-0, I think Alan Ainscow scored after we missed a penalty (Simon Barker brought down in the box). My Dad was a WBA fan, so took me for my first match. I was very confused why everyone cheered us missing a penalty - we were sat in the WBA end and I hadn't appreciated not everyone would support Rovers! Next time we came (Sept 1989) I wore my Rovers shirt so Dad had to take me in the away end! (Where Colin Hendry was sat in the stands as he was due to join Chelsea the following day (which then changed to Man City) - all the fans were ignoring him, so my Dad said go up and ask for an autograph and he was really nice). Good times!
