Argh - not on TV, the match centre audio seems to have reset not recognising my log in... why couldn't this have happened on a match where we are losing rather than this rare potential win?!! -

Rovers connections... Duff or Savage. (Big Sam would turn us down). Cheap option... Damian Johnson (to be fair has earnt a shot?). Fantasy option... Don Mackay. Even cheaper option... Me, I managed to get Rovers promoted at the 1st time of asking on FM26 (and about to get us relegated straight back!) Reality - God help us! -

Absolutely staggering that he is still there... Must be the pay-off, too expensive. Grim. -

Ooo - would the replay have been a midweek, or a Saturday game? -

You log on everyday just for another small bit of hope to die when absolutely no news on incomings is apparent... Oh for a modern trio of Mimms, Dobson and Livingstone to get us over the line...- 5437 replies

Okay Rovers history experts, can you help solve a family mystery for us? My mother has sadly recently passed away. In her youth she was a proper Rovers fan - born in 1942. Whilst she was at school, she organised for herself and friends to climb out of the classroom window to skip school and watch an important Rovers match? Other schools had been given the time off for it - but as mum went to a girls schools, they decided it wasn't for them. As the ringleader she was expelled when she returned the day afterwards! Any ideas? -
I can't see him moving in this window... Palace have already had to sell lots of players, so they aren't desperate, so even if Wharton was keen to explore options (I can't see him demanding move, not his style) they would probably price him out of a move (for now) - plus with the terrible run Palace are on, he has hardly been in the 'shop window'.

Shearer was (surprisingly) physical - defenders seemed to bounce off him. Not necessarily hard, but off the scale looking for trouble - El Hadji Diouf or Paul Dickov. Andy Todd always looked like he would explode at any random moment. Oh, and Souness in training - didn't he take out a few of our players? -

Oh to have a young(er) Don Mackay to come in and somehow keep us up. Suspect VI is safe as will cost money to remove him, but Damian Johnson would at least be a free replacement. The league table is looking beyond grim, something - anything needs to be done. -

Positives... Lots of effort. Negatives... We are woeful. -
Ahh yes... stand corrected. Okay, not worrying about resting players who might be moved on then.

Mid Jan - rooted to the foot of the PL table - team bereft of confidence, going to need to pull something out of the bag form wise soon as I am giving the famous Derby a run for their money!

v Ipswich Town (a) - 17/1/26
JPTSwindon replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Fun... hmm, worryingly so! Positives: We have played well against Ipswich in recent matches. We somehow pull out a result when least expected. At this rate there is a chance I could find myself (or any other random fan) asked to play upfront. Ipswich hate Norwich, so should give us an easy ride. Reality: Ipswich are in good form. Ipswich have a striker. Ipswich don't have our likely starting XI. Whilst Ipswich hate Norwich they won't be giving us an easy ride. Tronstad and Gudjohnsen won't be both starting. Somehow dig out a 0-0, but expect a thumping. -
It seemed the Palace manage was seeking to cup tie any player that is attracting interest - keen to keep his best players until the end of the season (when he is also expecting to leave).

Plus being dropped from the match squad doesn't exactly scream 'playing raring to go...' to potential buyers. -
I remember wanting O'Neill as our manager back in the day... Scottish football need Celtic and Rangers to miss out on the title this season - big ask on Hearts if Rangers and / or Celtic hit form.

I also think we they could better spread the fixtures out - so a few extra midweek games at the start of the season (when the weather is warm, light evenings etc), so there is less of a stockpile at the moment. -
v Hull City (a) - FA Cup R3 - 11/01/26
JPTSwindon replied to davulsukur's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
That didn't work against Bradford in the League Cup! To be fair, I am normally all for giving the youngsters a taste of action, but they are getting that anyway. I'd go with our strongest team (with Hull potentially more focused on the league?), try and get some morale back into the team - fine margins in the table, few good or bad results will make a huge difference. As an earlier poster said, if we win, 1 or 2 extra games won't make a big difference to the league - that's decided over 46 matches. -
v Wrexham (h) - 1/1/26
JPTSwindon replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Oh my... we have had plenty of low moments, but this is absolutely up there. With Norwich rising, we are going to need to pull out some performances from somewhere, somehow (which to be fair we have done a few times this season (weather limited)) - absolute dross. Clearly a lack of strikers isn't helping - this isn't a surprise it has been the case for a few weeks, so why on earth hadn't they got someone lined up for the second the window opened? It'll be the same XI again and again at this rate, with ever diminishing returns. -
I would love a modern day Jack Walker... If there was one and the Venky's dug in, then I'd be all for a boycott to force their hand. My point was, at the moment I can't see an investor on the horizon. That doesn't excuse the current situation we are in - far from it, but no bids means 'what is the alternative?'.
