Certainly isnt but still frustrating to know what could and should have been in some of those games. Last minute collapses, 4 penalties given away in the last how many games (although those last two were questionable) and not taking chances start to grind after a while. As you say though, we look like we can mix it with the top ten at least which many would have taken at the start of the season.

Could prove to be a very shrewd signing. Though I would be inclined to tie him down longer if it does look to be the case that his class is starting to shine through again, must be on peanuts here compared to his last contract and there will be others certainly sniffing around knowing that he is on a one-year deal.

On the OP...still too early to say in my opinion. have not seen enough of many of them but at the very least, you would say that we have far better strength in depth. I think it is fair to say that TM really makes players have to earn a spot, more so than most managers, so the likes of Rothwell, Reed, Rodwell and even Brereton will have their work cutout.

I also think that it is blind praise for Raya too. No doubt he will turn into a good keeper at this level or higher but he does have clangers in him that could and 'have' cost us points in the past. Fantastic shot-stopper but his kicking and command of his box definitely need some work.

Hurst did a decent job at Shrewsbury but I think he is being found out a little. its all very well recruiting from lower leagues in L1 but when you are up against teams splashing millions - you either need to get very lucky, unnearth the new Shearer or sell your soul to the devil to get anywhere in the Championship. Think he took too many players from the league below that are not quite up to it.

Funny thing is that Chaddy states style of football is more important than results and can emphasise with the low-spending Ipswich (which are now bound for league 1) fans but now Stoke fans are calling for Mick McCarthy to come in. Stoke fans want results, all fans want results.

Hurst is underperforming no matter what Chaddy says - he is just defending him because he is backed into a corner having said he understands why Ipswich fans wanted him gone.
