  1. Isn't 'low block' the same as a team 'sitting deep'? Glad it's not just me that's sick to death with all this bollocks!
  2. Seems to be a hot topic at present.. Personally I like to see a bit of tactically fluidity, love to see a direct approach. Why not boot it high up and drop it up and over a centre half or make them head it. Defenders hate it. We saw Ohashi get a lad sent off from exactly that. You don't have to 'play through the lines' when you can ping it long. Wimbledon used to play diagonals just to win throw-ins and corners before loading the box. I hate the rigidity and arrogance of modern managers. They think they've re-invented the game.. I listened to the Pep and Warnock interview, Warnock talking of the importance of man management- understanding how to get the best out of players whilst Pep, if I'm remembering correctly (Long time ago so apologies if I'm wrong) was talking about how the game's moved on and it's all about tactics now.. A bit of a digression, but whilst I don't disagree tactics are important, very, very important, they're pretty pointless if you don't have the lads on side. I think this is massively under appreciated, it's almost deemed a bit of an 'old school' approach. However, I see it as the smart approach- evidence based even. I know in Psychology the therapeutic relationship between client and practioner is the most important variable as to the success of therapy. What I think I'm getting it, other than missing how football used to be. Is it's rather generic and complexified- we're not talking quantum physics. I'm all for a resurgence if proper wing play, two strikers up front. Long balls into the big man to hold up or flick on. Sick to death of watching wingers and strikers do nothing but press and pass backwards.
  3. Play the 10 mins if Ipswich aren't happy ... It's in no way 'fair' to go again 11 Vs 11 giving Ipswich another bite at it... Highly unlikely given Ipswich poor start and reduction to 10 they were winning that..
  4. It's still raining heavily now... Just one of those things. .
  5. Thought we looked good today.. The new centre mid definitely should start ahead of Tavares!
  6. Wish, Vale the best of luck. However, I always thought he looked pretty lazy. Not to disparage the likes of Dickov, Savage, Dolan et.al, but if you remove their work rate I'd argue there's no way they carve out the careers that they did/are doing.. I can't for the life of me understand young lads that aren't prepared to run through walls on the pitch.. Unless you're a VERY good player: Benni, Roque, Tugay- who all still put the yards and tackles in, I'm sorry, you're not going far in the game. Reminds me a bit of Leonard, def something there, hope it clicks but think we've made the right decision in both cases moving them on.
  7. You're right, it's not pretty is it.. So back four Toth Ribiero Aliesou Carter Wharton Trondstadt Henrikson (Looks shit but I really don't like Tavares) Hedges Cantwell Morishita Gudjohnson
  8. We aren't winning this one either GK: Toth DC: Carter DC: Wharton DC: Miller LWB: Morishita RWB: Alesiou MC: Trondstadt MC: Cantwell MC: Anyone other than Tavares ST: Ohashi ST: Gudjohnsen I wonder if Hedges could do a job in the middle?
  9. And to be absolutely clear I'm not a fan of Pears.
  10. No way am I terminating Pears contract. He's a more than adequate number 2 at this level and if Toth gets injured then he'll have a point to prove.. if he's off I definitely want a fee and competition for Toth.. Ideally Benson is pushing him hard to improve and be ready.. He's definitely worth a fee, million at least...
  11. I'd certainly take a gamble on him. He had a very stop-start spell with us. There's a player in there for sure, AND he actually knows the division and has experience. No brainer for me!
  12. I said exactly the same about Kargbo, what's up with him, looks like his pace has got up and gone... Agree with all the rest, great analysis
  13. I really don't see anything- looks lazy and reluctant or unable to make a tackle.. I'm happy to judge him based off his performances thus far and I see no stand-out attributes.. Bloody hope we sign Browne!
  14. Yep, rather play Garrett or a prospect than Tavares, he's a passenger.. Kargbo was dreadful, Tyrhs did nothing but harrass, press and make nuisance, he did nothing today.. Surely he has the attributes to do what Dolan did? Other than Hedges I thought they were all wank to be honest! I thought Cantwell tried hard. Crap!
  15. Did nothing other than kill a good counter attack thus setting up a dangerous Norwich attack- looks languid, lazy and wank.. Hope to god he improves because thus far he looks awful.
  16. I don't blame him, but Sergeant has won that penalty- as most modern footballers do, as soon as they feel someone touch them they go down. Never in million years does a player go down like that 90's backwards. I thought the red card was incredibly harsh, clear goal scoring opportunity? Certainly a good opportunity but he had a defender up his arse and increasingly narrow angle.. Tavares again looking poor, Kargbo too.. Stand outs thus far, Hedges, Cantwell, Alesiou, Ohashi- more for their endevour than skill.. The rest get 5/10 Get new lad on, looks very promising- let's hope he's magician...
  17. David Raya?? Absolutely awful decision to flog him for what we did. I loved him and said across multiple platforms I thought he'd go to the top and play for Spain and a top team.. loaned in Walton as his replacement.. I used to love watching Raya warm up- so agile and amazing reflexes.. I'll never forget sitting their at ewood watching Walton warm up in a preseason friendly or training session at ewood and thinking 'Fuck me, what have we done!' Travis is a cracking player but he's not out player any more.. I certainly wouldn't advocate us spending 3m of our budget on him that's for sure..
  18. Suppose you see a different side to him in the interview- clearly didn't want to go and was Rovers through and through..
  19. Just watched Buckleys interview again, the lads gutted! Would rather have kept him than sign Tavares. The lad bleeds blue and white.. Surely he was worth a go as a deep lying play maker alongside Trondstadt. Oh well, gutted. Such a shame.
  20. Spot on, exactly the same sentiments. To start, I'm not a massive Buckley fan- always felt like he needed a rocket up his arse. However, his range of passing is brilliant and he can certainly read the game and nick/intercept the ball.. I've seen nothing in Tavares or Henrikson that suggests they have more ability than Bucko. When you add in the fact he's an academy lad and obviously loves the club I don't know why we couldn't have held onto him and just not signed Foreshaw- especially with Travis going. We've a squad now full of lads from all over Europe with absolutely no affinity to the club. They better be bloody good Rudy!
  21. I suppose it's weather Hyam's happy, does he want to get out- I think he's a steady performer, would rather he stays given the amount of players we've already shed.. I still think he leaves.. Trondstadt maybe too...
  22. The ironic cheers from Hull fans... Are they kidding? Could easily be down to 10 men and should have about 6 on yellow cards!!!
  23. Good performance so far- well done lads!
