  1. Great to see Sunderland collapsing. Pears is like a different player- his positioning and handling is top notch. Sorba is a bloody great player, really nippy and works his socks of defensively. Carter is looking increasingly good- Wharton is going to be sweating over his place in the side. Pickering was top notch today, he looked really sharp and pacey. Costello- love his aggression, feisty little fucker! Bucko- Great game- not his biggest fan but he looked tenacious today- sharp, aggressive and looking forwards. Travis- Superb, biggest shit-house in the world but I love him. Dolan- had a funny game today, I'd say until mid-way through the second half he was a constant threat- also made quite a few misplaced passes. Szmodic- running out of superlatives, come back a different player- again, he's tenacious, fiery aggressive little sod! Gallagher- class. If he has someone running beyond him today they'd have had a field day. Really positive stuff.
  2. Jack Vale was really poor- Tomasson must see something in him ... Thought Morton was quite poor too.. Costello going off knocked us I thought which shows just how far the lads come- quality player!!
  3. Morton should have been subbed about 25 minutes ago- he's a liability.
  4. I think given the right service he'd be alright. Our current problems stem from a lack of chances created imo. I think there's more pressing areas to address.
  5. I think defensively we're sound- If Ayala leaves I'd bring in another body- a nippy centre half would be cool. I'd not get a left back, would like to see Jake Batty stake a claim for that position. I think we're woefully short in midfield I'd bring in: Box to Box Midfielder: O'Brien mould Dynamic Ball carrier: Rothwell mould Two rapid wingers: Khadra and Sorba would be nice We're going to need competition for Gallagher with Breo leaving- loan someone in that has something about themself.. Gk: Kaminski DL: Pickering/Batty DR: Brittain/Costello/Carter DC: Hyam/Wharton DC: Carter/Ayala(?)/Phillips ML: Sorba MR Khadra MC: O'Brien MC: Buckley/Wharton MC: Rothwell ST: Gallagher That'd be getting your promoted in my opinion.
  6. Costello, wow, what a player. Would love to see him in that centre mid. Get him tied down to a new contract now.
  7. Wharton is not in the same league at the moment as O'Brien. He's a top class midfielder. I don't buy these stats people present. They did the same with Rothwell, his driving runs created space all over the pitch. He could break through the lines and make things happen. But people would simply say he doesn't score or assist enough. Only considering direct goal involvements is a very naïve way of interpreting a players performance. I really like A.Wharton, but he's lightweight and doesn't work that hard- he's a long way to go. I remember similar hyper around Buckley and to a lesser extent our England U21 captain Jason Lowe. O'Brien would be a transformative signing for us. Wharton, the way how he carries himself- quite a languid, lazy looking style reminds me a lot of Buckley. We've had a few decent results but at the end of the day cream rises to the top. I stand by my previous posts, out current centre mids are lightweight, small, struggle to carry the ball forward and are all much-of-a-muchness. Desperately need some quality in there. If by some miracle this loan goes through I think we'll make play-offs.
  8. Oh well, at least we don't want to get promoted anyway. Glad I didn't bother wasting my money by going to watch that in the flesh. Dog shit!
  9. Vale looks so bloody lazy and our pressing game is embarrassing. Vale not bothering, then you've got Travis closing down their centre halves. So easy to play through us. I always thought if one player pressed everyone pressed? I'd rather not press at all and save our energy.
  10. Hardly the kind of talk that fills up a stadium is it?
  11. Anyone seen JDT's comments in the Telegraph? Hope it's a case of lost in translation... 🤔 6:47pm JDT: “So far I think we’ve had a good season, in the last 16 of the FA Cup, in the other cup we were in the last 16, something Rovers haven’t been for many years. “We’ve been in a good position in the league all year. “Is it too high? If you look at our squad and the rest of the money involved in this great league, yes it’s too high. “Is that our target to up there? No, but we can dream about it. “We are not favourites, I’ve said that from day one, we’re under construction, and where we’re trying to build over time. “That’s the situation here.” Blackburn Rovers v Wigan Athletic: LIVE match updates | Lancashire Telegraph
  12. Wish GB had come out sooner to clarify what was happening. He's a breath of fresh air. Despite the massive disappointment of this transfer window, I'm glad he's at our club and feel like with him involved we MAY be moving in the right direction.
  13. What an absolute shambles. I really feel like that's me done (It won't be). The emotional energy, time and money the last 10 years have taken feel like a really poor use of time and resources. It feels like the club has very little organisation, ambition or idea that the fans like to see entertaining football. It's dire. Be better putting that cash towards paying my astronomical energy bills and weekends away with the family. Maybe I have unrealistic expectations but to me, looking in from the outside it feels like the club is gripped with malaise and apathy. I'll eat humble pie if we unveil several decent players later on but, based upon the past decade I'm not getting my hopes up. Shite!
  14. I think our problems stem from centre mid... A quick winger with end product, a good centre mid, Dack coming back into the goals.. A forward would be the cherry on top. But we're gonna still have Brereo until the summer.
  15. Harry Souttar off to Leicester for 15m, shame we didn't get him..
  16. I think Waggott forgets football is about entertainment. An exciting, winning brand of football gets bums on seats. That builds an atmosphere and that's where your momentum comes in. They've got it back to front. They're charging a fair whack for shit football. Not investing in good players, they instead 'sell' this project- the football is poor and disjointed. There's no momentum. Spend some money, bring some exciting players in and watch the fans come and watch. You're not going to get people back making cuts, letting your best players leave for nothing and not replacing them.
  17. Where's this Lucas Joao rumour come from? I'd be delighted to have him back.
  18. I very much doubt that, he's a bright young talent with a big reputation. Absolute no-brainer! Doesn't work out then they'll probably loan him out somewhere.
  19. It's okay making room for youth and giving them a chance, but they have to be good enough. The idea is to create a successful football team and fill the stadium. At the moment we have a couple of decent youngsters- we've been here in the past. I remember Jason Roberts lauding some of the young talent coming through the ranks: Henley, Lowe, Kean, Hanley and Raheem Hanley.. Look at how that worked out... I've not listened to the Broughton interview yet. But the only benefit I see in taking this approach is to be able to sell the club and attract better youth players moving forwards. I suppose if we can't compete with transfers this is a sensible model but the chances of bringing through an entire side good enough to win promotion is going to be very slim. We still need to dip into the market and sign good players to remain competitive. As the old adage goes "If you're good enough you're old enough" ... Like-wise if you're not good enough to help the club achieve their ambition then you're getting replaced. I fear in 5 years time we may look back at the current crop as we do now with Henley et.,al When Duff, Dunn, Tiny, Damien Johnson and Beattie were coming through you knew they were special- I don't get that vibe. Got to dip your toes into the market and buy some experience quality to raise the standard within the club.
  20. Sorry lads, Raya is destined to be Spains no1 , is playing in the Premiership and being linked to Top clubs. You need to remove your Blue and White tinted glasses. He's absolutely class. Mowbray shafted us, sold one of the best young keepers in the World and brought in whatever his name was. I remember watching a Youtube video of a former Rovers youth coach being interviewed. He said he was stunned we'd shipped him and for so little for him as it was obvious he had massive potential and was destined for great things... Kaminski is a good keeper, but I don't think he's in the Raya bracket- he'd have been snapped up by now wouldn't he!? This isn't an attack on Kaminski, I really like him, but saying he's better than Raya just comes across as proper bias.
