  1. Cantwell is like a slug! I'd love to play against him. Think he's massively over rated..
  2. Neale used to love Roofe and Dacky!! Doubt we will spend anything. But in ideal world: CM: Lewis O'Brien would compliment what we have really well.. AML: Poku. AMR: Asgaard ST: Louie Barry and Kone I expect an obsure loan or two on deadline day.. If that. Clubs rotten.
  3. Bamford, Brereton and a rapid winger or two.
  4. Two decent shouts above- both I think would improve us without breaking the bank..
  5. Wouldn't mind Bamford if we could get him cheap, which, in itself is an oxymoron. Proper clinical striker- would still want another and lots of pace.
  6. If Brittain had a change of pace he'd be brilliant- like all of our squad though, very one-paced. Cracking player though, I agree, played really well- especially in the final third- our biggest threat, direct, composed, skilful. I'm not sure Leonard suits our style of play. I think he'd thrive in a 4-4-2 with wingers playing off a big man.
  7. The squad has been massively underinvested in. We've lost lots of quality players and never replaced them.. Wharton 20m Szmodics 9m Arma 15m? The squad is well organised and spirited but lacks quality- which is little surprise. I was convinced we'd be bottom three this season. I'm not sure if our current position makes Eustace a genius or the league awful but I'll take it. Lets be objective and pragmatic. Teams generally do well, win things, because they spend/reinvest money they receive into improving the playing staff.. Our purchases, to me, don't scream out 'We're having a tilt at going up' they're bargain bucket signings you hope are going to be brilliant. We remain a prestigious, well decorated club, but until we have a change of attitude at the very top- not just promotion but stabilizing as a Premier League team we can't expect anything. The club's in a malaise. This squad, in my opinion is a bottom half side AT BEST, in my humble opinion. Add some pace, a Keiffer Moore upfront and we could benefit from our organisation and ability to grind teams down. Ain't happening though is it. Fair play to Burnley, snatched it- we should have won at their place, is what it is I suppose. Football's a funny old game.
  8. I didn't think Gueye was THAT bad. Quite a handful, he needs people around him- did Leonard touch the ball?
  9. I'd have started JRC in the middle. The lad's a shithouse, loves a tackle and pops up with goals. Baker coasted through that one imo.
  10. We've lost so much quality that we haven't replaced- simple as. I do wish Venkys would sod off and sell us.
  11. I actually thought Buckley improved us a bit- passed it forwards- better than Cantwell, which doesn't take much.
  12. No pace, No bite. It's all good inviting pressure- and largely with standing it, but you need to be able to counterattack.. Cantwell looks like he's running in a swap, painfully slow. Baker, poor today, albeit against a good opposition. Trondstadt good as ever. I think you needed a JRC in there to add some nastiness and bite.. Travis and Carter would have made such a difference. Can't say I'm surprised, the squad's crying out for investment, as it has been for a while- spend or fuck off Venkys!
  13. Travis is a massive loss- tell you what, very impressed with Lewis Baker today though. Appears a good signing that one.. We need a winger to replace Hedges, who I think is a solid squad player, however his end product is so often found wanting.. Get a proper striker in too- someone with a bit of pace or a Keiffer Moore type..
  14. I've just posted on the Bristol Rovers forum for some intel on the Garrett situation. Proper waste. Cracking little player. Garrett | Bristol Rovers GasChat Forum
  15. We're 5th in the championship.. I still think we lack a centre half- as you pointed out. One injury away from a disaster there.. Lack any genuine pace out wide. But, perhaps most concerning is we lack a goal scorer. I like to work off worst case scenarios: Pears has a dip. Hyam or Batth injured/suspended. Strikers don't click. Hedges picks up and injury and Dolan gets himself a move lined up.. Ideally I'd account for all that. Don't just look for back-up. Look to improve each of those positions. That's what would push us on. Reality is we're unlikely to even bring in adequate back-up.. Centre half, a khadra type, a goal scorer (Villa lad at Stockport) and a rapid winger..
  16. Ironically (and somewhat off track, so not entirely ironic) I was saying Gueye would make a belting centre half! haha
  17. I'd be tapping Villa up all the way for the young lad on loan at Stockport. Massive future in the game. Him, along with a centre half, winger, centre half (of quality) and I think we've got a chance...
  18. Sorry, no offense intended. Sure you're fully aware, but Hendry is an absolute legend down here. Always good to hear off other fans. Good luck for the season. I'll keep an eye out for your results!
  19. To think people called, and still do, Jason Roberts a donkey.. Gueye is such a likeable guy. Has some great attributes, I do hope it clicks for him.. He seems pretty decent running with the ball which suprises me a lot.. I think there's a lot to be said for character. The lad appears to actually be proud to wear the shirt. He's aggressive, wants to win, has a relationship with the fans. I love him. A welcome, addition. We've had much worse. We've had better. For me, seeing someone wear the shirt that wants, and is proud to wear it is brilliant.
  20. Beck, reminds me a lot of another Liverpool left back we signed- Warnock. Brilliant little player. Liverpool are arguably one of the best teams in the world right now, they're being linked to Alfonso Davies.. I'm not sure he's in that bracket. He'd surely be a good squad player, which is no mean feat.. Wonderful player. I think he'd walk into a side like United though. I see more in Beck than the likes of Rico Lewis at City. Joy to watch. Massive potential. How's your season going- Dundee United? Didn't we sign Billy Mckinlay from you?
  21. That young lad, Barry on loan from Villa at Stockport has a bright future.. I've just been looking at this Link to last seasons best mids in league 1 why don't we take the lad from Plymouth, Jordan Houghton? Give us another, and slightly different option in CM?
  22. Luton have some very good players. Their away form is shocking though. Rovers are in great form, however we did lose at home to Stoke.. Toss a coin on this one for me.. More inclined to think we'll pick up 3 points here though.. No hard feelings towards Kaminski but it'd be absolutely beautiful to see Pears on the winning side against his old 'master'..
  23. Imagine if we'd dropped Pears for Kaminski that season...
  24. I'd drop Pears in a heart beat. Unforgiveable that goal he sliced into his own net against Sheff Wed last season. I'd have given him away at that point. For me he's an average number 2. Now, the new lad might be shit, which wouldn't be good as we'd be left with two shit keepers again. However, he might be a lot better than a keeper we know is fairly inconsistent and prone to horrendous errors. We owe him nothing. Give the new lad a chance. No, I'm not a massive fan!
  25. Powell looks tenacious, I like him. Quick, forwarded thinking and aggressive.
