  1. Given the level of officiating in the Championship it might be worth trying to start with an extra man, they probably wouldn't notice. We've been on the end of some terrible officiating recently.
  2. hahahaha, I didn't clock that. Also thought Nyambe was unavailable: Nyambe in at right back and Drop Gallagher then!
  3. Talk about reactionary. We lost a game. To me it looked like the plan was to bypass midfield, get it to the forwards to hold up then push up and support. Sometimes things just don't work out. We failed to hold up the ball adequately and the supply of balls forward (Wharton and one good ball by Costello apart) were poor. We still could and probably should have squeezed a point out of that one. Onto Boro, Travis back, Zeeifuck in at right back, revert to our succesful system of play, hopefully get a win. Gk: Kaminski Dc: Wharton Dc: Van Hecke (Be tempted to play Ayala against his old club) Dc: Lenihan Lwb: Edun (Pickering is a big miss) Rwb: Zeeifuck Cm: Travis Cm: Rothwell Cm: Buckley Lf: Brereton (Makanday) Cf: Gallagher Rf: Khadra I think with Edun and Zeeifuk as wingbacks it'd be beneficial to have them both as high up the pitch as possible- I like Edun a lot but I don't think defending is his strongest attribute. I wouldn't want to playing on the back foot encouraging pressure down the flanks. Probably could do with some reinforcements in centre mid or make the most out of Davenport. We can't get away with two centre mids. My concern is how we'd change the game form the bench... Boro will be coming to nick an early goal and hold onto that. Rovers are immense at home. 3-1 Rovers after an early goal from Boro, super Joe to rip them a new one and Makanday brace, promotion back on track.
  4. I think Bournemouth will slide down into the play-offs, second spot is anyones. Such an enjoyable division to play in. I obviously want to get promoted but the Premiership is bloody boring.
  5. Best midfielder in the league plays for Rovers. I've yet to see anyone that's close to Rothwell.
  6. Offer Rothwell and Lenihan better deals, sign the MK Dons lad and it'll have been a tremendous window, I think I'd like to see a more able no2, perhaps give Eastham a go if the chance aries.
  7. Imagine if we'd kept the core of our best recent academy graduates together and you add in what we have.. Gk: Raya Dc: Wharton Dc: Hanley Dc: O'Connor Rwb: Nyambe Lwb: Pickering Mc: Travis Mc: Buckley Mc: Rothwell St: Brereton St: Gallagher St: Khadra That's before you go futher back and look at Phil Jones, Dunn, Duff, Beattie, Johnson, Tiny Taylor et.al We've got a very fruitful academy. Something to be proud of.
  8. How can you compare Pears and Raya? Raya was brilliant at Rovers, he made a few mistakes but was largely brilliant, Pears just isn't as good, he obviously has the capacity toplay very well but he doesn't seem to be able to replicate that, That's what makes a good keeper. I think to blame the coach for tha is harsh. I know the counterargument; 'if he's good sometimes a good coach could make him good all the time.' If only it was that easy. Every keeper has the occasional great game. It's been said the thing that seperates non-league players from top notch ones is the ability to consistently replicate their best form. He's above his level. No amount of coaching is going to fix that. He reminds me of Steele- who ironically is somehow playing in the premiership now. I can't see the logic in letting Raya and Fisher leave, the latter now being chased by Swansea and bringing in Kaminski and Pears. I really like Kaminski but I don't think he's better than Raya nor do I think Pears is better than Fisher who has done consistently well at MK Dons. To me our former keepers were blamed for a poor defense infront of them, I'd much rather have kept the pair of them and rediverted the cash elsewhere- easy to say in hindight but I was a big fan of the pair of Raya and Fisher and gutted to see them both leave.
  9. Looks about right to me, some tough games coming up for Fulham, Bournemouth et al.. Play-offs at the moment feel very achievable atm- enjoying it whilst it lasts!
  10. Travis is a brilliant right back, remember seeing him there several times for the academy. Nyambe is an important player, whilst he doesn't cross the ball that well or often usually just checks back, he getting so far up the pitch creates an overload and problems for the opposition. Shame about the lads contracts, I thnk it's bloody dreadful management, but it is what it is. If Nyambe is going lets hope this new right back can step in and improve us. If Nyambe is off then this fella seems a well scouted option to replace him. Perhaps even an improvement but time will tell. Rothwell is the one to keep, he's irreplaceable. If selling Nyambe meant we could offer Rothwell what he wants I'd take that.
  11. Me and my lad, being completely objective came up with this 🤣. I think that'll be the top six Rovers probably 3rd or 4th, could live with 100 points though! For a bit of fun lets see what everyone else gets then we can take an average league position. https://thefishy.co.uk/calculator1.php
  12. Nyambe won't be that easy to replace, as someone else pointed out, you'll have to find a better player for a combined lower transfer fee and wage than it'd cost to give Nyambe what he's wanting- good luck with that one.. There's also this myth good rightbacks are easy to come about- they're not. Give these lads the contracts they deserve unless you can replace them with better players for less than the cost of their contracts.
  13. I know, still a Rover though, just talking about options we'd have as a club. Hope he does well at Scunny.
  14. I think Mitrovic has been decent where ever he has been. To say he couldn't hit a barn door is a bit unfair. He is a very good, well proven striker. His international record speaks volumes.
  15. I love players with pace, it means the opposition have to sit deeper. I think Burke looks quite a threatening player, I could see him as a wide forward. In saying that I could only see him coming in to replace Khadra or Brereton not as well as, unless the plan is to move Big Ben into the middle? Burke---- Brereton ---- Khadra OR Brereton--- Gallagher --- Burke I'd like to keep Khadra and sign Burke if possible. He would give us quite a few options up top, especially if we can keep hold of Khadra. Butterworth and Dolan biting at their heels then the younger lads coming through in Mcbride and Burns coming through. We'd have an abudance of options moving forwards. Makes me think I would rather see us allocate such funds towards keeping hold of the quality we already ahve...
  16. I can't see Brighton calling them two back if they have any serious aspirations of signing Brereton at any point in the future.
  17. If you take away that freak result against Fulham we're more or less on par with them. I know it sounds ridiculous, but if you discount that result and say we lost 2-0 instead of 7-0 Fulham would have: Goals for 46 (51), Goals against 19 Rovers would be 3 points behind, Goals for 41, Goals against 22 It's hypothetical but not competely pointless, I think it shows that taking away an absolute freak result we're right up their behind and based upon our current trajectory they should be concerned. It's interesting how after that, results the fortunes of both clubs have differed. Fulham have looked abject and been on a dreadful run of form whilst Rovers have ripped up the Championship. The gap we have clawed back on the top two is outrageous. If you'd told me we'd be in this situation on Boxing day I'd have told you Mowbray should be sacked and our season was ready to enter into a death spiral. Well Mr Mowbray, and the players, I tip my hat. Credit were credit is due. Absolutely fantastic bunch of hungry, young dynamic players. There's a long way to go but I think the top two isn't an unrealstic thing to shoot at.
