  1. Offer them a new contract with a promotion clause- significant increase in wages IF we go up, if we don't pop realistic release fee's in their contracts. I could see the latter upsetting a few fans but it's better than them walking for nothing....
  2. Yeh, but for Pears the outcome of the game could have been completely different. He looked confident and dominant on crosses too. I'm not saying I don't want Kaminski back, but surely Pears has done himself no harm in his performances. What's happened to Stergiakis? He came with quite a good reputation, Eastham was on the bench on Saturday I noticed ahead of him.
  3. This!! Enjoy the moment, lads. It might go tits, it might not, but bloody hell, I'm loving every moment!
  4. Wharton has made a tremendous difference, the guy's a class act. There was a moment in the first half were he showed great feet in a passage of play that led to a dangerous opportunity. We could do with another right back, and an extra creative midfielder imo incase Rothwell gets injured. Got to keep this side together and go for it now. I take my hat off to Mowbray, after the Fulham defeat I called for him to go- well, he's proven me and many others wrong. Credit where credit is due. Offer the players new contracts with promotion clauses indicating a significant rise in wages in line with the Premier League money.
  5. I was never keen on Robinson, he had a tremedous kick and was fairly agile but his positioning was very poor- got beaten quite often from long shots. Non-the-less, a steady(ish) enough keeper. We've had much-much worse, Steele has got to be the worst keeper I've ever seen in a Rovers shirt. I'd go as far to say that if we'd have dropped him sooner the season we went down we'd have stayed up. No idea how we managed to flog him to Sunderland, but I think it's little coincidence they went down too the next season.
  6. Great result in the end. If Stoke lose tommorrow there's a bit of a gap developing between us and, dare I say it, 'the chasing pack'. At this point I would be offering contracts with a few conditions, if we get promoted there's a hefty increase in salary- a bit of a carrot to stay and get us up.. And if we don't go up, their wage has been bumped up a fair bit, but there's a release fee in their contracts so any would be suitor can offer market value and take them off our hands...
  7. To me at least it's quite simple. I'll give an analogy. I have a couple of houses, I've run into some unexpected fiancial difficulties that means I am struggling to pay their mortgages.. I can either borrow some money to continue to pay the mortgage whilst I arrange sale of my assests then pay off the remainder of my outstanding debt and have a bit left over. Or I can choose not borrow speculatively to protect my expensive assets and lose them for a pittance. If you translate that to football. We have multimillion pound assets on the cusp of leaving for a pittance. You just need to speculatively borrow the money, offer them what they want, then if you can't afford that within your budget sell them for a premium. Surely that makes better business sense than losing them for nothing.... The fact we have so many assests running down is a major cause of concern...
