Nuttall winning some flick ons but absolutely no one interested in getting beyond him to pick the ball up. We are set up for a point with a hope we could nick something from a set piece. -

In theory you would but when you see Brereton play reality strikes. -

Crazy not to have him on the bench at least. Do we really need 4 strikers on the bench? -
More like good player wrong manager for him here.

Too many players out of position for my liking. Downing is a better centre back than Rodwell and Nyambe is a better full back than Bennett. That starting 11 and bench looks very light on defenders (do we really need 4 strikers on the bench)? Just 12 Leagues goals from our starting 11, 10 for Dack, 2 for Reed and 0 for the other 9 -

To be fair to Burnley they've never chanted with such joy about being up to their knees in the blood of people like me and my family. -

The Old Rangers and now the New Rangers, the only clubs that I hate more than Burnley. -
He's already signed for Sheffield United. He was a loan to then buy when the transfer window opened.

We couldn't beat either. -
With Palmer's departure it is highly likely that our bench on Saturday will have the grand total of zero league goals this season.
-
That's something people say about Palmer but I don't think is true. I think it is a lazy accusation aimed at him because he had the confidence to try some tricks. He worked a lot harder in terms of tracking back and chasing down opponents than the likes of Brereton, Armstrong or even Rothwell. Also unlike those 3 he was capable of winning a few headers which is much needed with Mowbray's hoof ball.
-
A shame to see Palmer go one one the few players with a bit of flair and creativity in our squad. I think under a manager that likes to play football and take the handbreak he would excel and be a top player at this level.
-
I think it is the way the manager wants to play. Mowbray talks about soldiers and artists and he likes at most 3 artists in his starting line up, he's a conservative manager who I always feel is happy to take the point that he starts the game with. We have some flair players who have some creativity in Palmer and Rothwell but they spend most their time on the bench as the manager would prefer a central midfielder wide in Reed or Bennett who is more soldier than artist. We have had Evans and Smallwood in the centre of midfield for most the season, who barley pass the ball forward they are mainly there to shield the back four (which I don't think they do very well). So given the manager chooses to line up with such a conservative team we are left with little choice but to go long into Graham and Dack as they are our only attacking threat from open play. I'm sure Graham and Dack would love more creativity and support be from attacking through ball's from midfield or from crosses out wide. Players of Graham and Dack's quality could adapt to any style, its the manager's ability to adapt that I worry about.
-
The WBA game showed how vital Graham is when we are holding onto a lead. He was sensational at holding the ball and winning freekicks or bringing others into play. Brereton has neither the physicality or the footballing intelligence that Graham possess for him to be able do that.
-
I think your maths is a little awry there. Brereton has 1 assist and no goals. Clarke has one assist and two goals. Anyway I'm just pleased that I could help you out and provide you with an answer to your query as to another 19 year old striker currently doing better than Brereton in the championship.
-
Clarke played most his youth team football as a striker but as Mowbray is doing with Brereton he is being nurtured into the team from out wide as he like Brereton would lack the physicality to play through the middle. The only difference is Clarke has shown a lot more than Brereton so far this season.
-
Brereton and Armstrong up front together is something I hope we don't have to see for a long time. Both lazy and both very weak, it would be a centre backs dream to be up against those two.
-
Ah so now you are moving the goal posts. You asked 'Could you name another 19 year old striker currently doing better than him in the championship?' You said nothing about last season or about what their value was. You wanted the name of a 19 year old currently doing better than Brereton and I have given you two.
-
What they want and what they get are two very different thing particularly as he is out of contract in the Summer.
-
Jack Clarke at Leeds only 18. Marcus Tavernier at Boro more of a winger but then Brereton has been more of a wide man for us when he has played.
-
That probably had something to do with scoring 3 own goals in 2 games and showing an attitude to match that of Leon Best. Duffy showed that he had potential during his time here but his attitude during his final few weeks was nothing short of a disgrace. And he still isn't anywhere near as him or his old man (there was another problem with Duffy) thought he was.
-
I think that is the system that long term he wants to play but we simply don't have a good enough defence to play it. We certainly don't have 3 centre backs good enough for this level, given Lenihan's performances this season I'm not even sure that we have two. At ring wing back Bennett isn't good enough defensively to play it and Nyambe isn't good enough going forward. As for Left wing back whichever one of Bell and Williams you pick they aren't good enough either as wing back or just normal full backs.
-
Why is Armstrong worth more now? Before he joined us he had 7 goals in 56 Championship games now his record is 9 goals in 80 Championship games, no chance that anyone would pay more than we paid for him. We had to pay compensation for Rothwell and despite a few decent cameos he hasn't really done anything significant since signing.
