  1. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11700/11597728/southampton-boss-ralph-hasenhuttl-wants-signings-to-suit-his-philosophy Saints manager wants to reduce the size of his squad but also bring in some signings of his own. You'd imagine that would mean that deals are be there to be made for Reed and Gallagher.
  2. For £6 Million Sheffield United brought in Norwood, Egan and McGoldrick all proven quality in the Championship and all would have improved our team. If you looked hard enough then there was plenty of talent out there that could have been brought in to make £7 Million look good value, be that spent combined on numerous players or spent on just one player.
  3. Personally I don't think Reed is ever going to be a regular feature at Southampton if he was going to be he probably would be by now. As for what incentive would they have to sell him the answer is simple money. The new manager will want a budget to bring his own players in so I'm sure he'd be delighted to get money for a player that he has probably never even seen play and is not in his plans.
  4. My ideal window would be Reed on a permanent even if it means dipping into the summer budget, a big dominating centre back and a pacey winger on permanents. Then in the loan market a striker and If Nyambe is going to be out for any length of time then a right back. There would still be work needed to be done in the summer but this would fill someone positions that we are light in and we would get them integrated into the team for a big season next season.
  5. The suspension of Smallwood and the long overdue emergence of Travis is exactly what is needed if the club is going to push on over the next few months and for next season. It seemed like it was going to take a lot for Mowbray to break up Smallwood and Evans but surely Travis' excellent performances coupled with Smallwood's brainless challenge has done just that. A midfield of Smallwood and Evans was very reminiscent of the Lowe and Williamson pairing in that both pairings were suppose to be defensive midfielder but they weren't a particularly great shield for the defence, they played central whilst a better player played wide right and in possession there is no forward thinking just side ways and backward passing that slows the play down. The difference with Travis the weekend was incredible not only did you have his work rate and getting stuck in but you had someone passing forward and not afraid to run with the ball. If Mowbray continues to put his faith in Smallwood and Evans like Bowyer did Lowe and Williamson it ultimately be his undoing as it was for Bowyer. A limited central midfield pairing will get you mid table at best. The young dynamic Travis is the future, sign Reed up as well play him central and we have a midfield that is head and shoulders above what we started the season with. It can do everything that Smallwood and Evans do plus much more. The big question is will Tony be brave enough to do it?
  6. Did they even all play together?
  7. I don't know what he would cost but Lindsay would be a near perfect signing for us. As for Williams I remember when he was at Ipswich on loan it must be 3 or 4 seasons ago now he looked a classy midfielder with a big future ahead of him sadly injuries have blighted his development, but if you could get him fit and back to his best you could have a quality player and probably wouldn't cost much
  8. It's what surprises me most about Brereton. You'd expect him to be working his socks of in order to make an impression and win the fans over but he's actually pretty lazy and there is no excuse for that.
  9. I'd take Chapman on loan but I certainly wouldn't be spending money and committing to a contract. He's hardly played any football for a year, his pace is his big attribute and after numerous hamstring injuries at least some of that pace is going to have gone. There is no doubt that we need a pacey winger the 3 players I would be looking at would be Hunter at Fleetwood, Lowe at Portsmouth or Dembele at Peterborough.
  10. I hope we play a strong side here as we have a good chance of an upset as you can be sure that Rafa won't play his best team.
  11. Leutwiler Lenihan Downing Mulgrew Bell Reed Travis Armstrong Dack Rothwell Graham Subs: Raya, Rodwell, Williams, Evans, Bennett, Conway, Nuttall
  12. You'd have thought that someone would have told him by now to stay on his feet, too often he rashly dives in and leaves us completely exposed down his side. As for his positional play that's what you get when you play a winger at full back. Bennett performances at full back this season have been woeful if Nyambe is going to be injured for any length of time then we should be dipping into the loan market for a right back.
  13. Granted they have not had Gayle against us either time but I think both times they have looked very ordinary. They spend to much time passing the ball about going nowhere, they only looked dangerous when they got the ball wide at attacked with pace and they are also a danger from set pieces.
  14. Yeah I think its his style to but it does always make me rather nervous and has cost us goals this season. There is no doubt in my mind that both Bell and Williams have been effected by not getting a consistent run it can't be easy to be playing one week and the on the bench the next, particularly for a defender. We need to pick which one is going to be our left back and give them a consistent run that may also help tighten the defence up a bit and make us look a more cohesive unit.
  15. And breathe. Where did 6 Minutes come from I swear these officials make the stoppage time number. Not exactly convincing in stoppage time but we got the job done. We still need a big dominant centre half particularly to deal with set pieces better. Dack was excellent we offered little threat in attack once he went off, he was involved in most of the chances that we created today. Mulgrew was excellent in defence and his goals are so vital to this team considering the lack of goals from the midfield and wide forwards. Graham showed in those final 10-15 minutes just why he is so vital when we are hanging on to a lead. As for young Travis I have been calling for him to be given a chance for a long time now and I am delighted that he has and with how he has taken it, what a tremendous young talent he is. How nice is it to see a central midfielder that passes the ball forward and who is not afraid to run with it. Today should put to bed any talk of him leaving on loan. Again the biggest weakness in our team today was the full backs. Surely Mowbray can see by now that Bennett is not a full back, if Nyambe is going to be out for any length of time then we need to bring in a right back on loan. As for Bell it must just be his style but he is far too casual for my liking both when defending and when in possession. One slight positive with Bell is that he is looking a bit more of a threat going forward.
  16. Armstrong gives the ball away as much as anyone in our squad. And his pace is no asset as he has no idea how to use and just runs down blind alleys
  17. What has Armstrong done to earn a recall Rothwell and Palmer did well by all accounts on Saturday, yet Armstrong is straight back in. Tony certainly has his favourite. Also what does Lenihan have to do to get dropped.
  18. Stole a point? You must have been watching a different game to me, I thought we were well worth a point and looking the team most likely to win until the final 10 minutes when we went down to 10 men and had a midfielder in goal. Until Raya went of we were controlling the game and at times they couldn't live with us.
  19. Not if they've seen him play.
  20. Raya Nyambe Downing Mulgrew Travis Evans Reed Palmer Dack Rothwell Graham Subs:Leutwiler, Lenihan, Rodwell, Bell, Bennett, Armstrong, Nuttall West Brom away is the last team that we actually played well, at times they struggled to cope with us as we really took the game to them (lets hope we do the same this time). Palmer, Dack and Rothwell were very good but we missed Graham's presence up front and of course Reed put in the performance of the season from central midfield.
  21. To be fair to them they stumped up around £10 Million this summer. There is a lot of Championship managers who would love that sort of financial backing, it's not their fault that Mowbray spent it on a load of rubbish. They also stumped out on extended and no doubt improved contracts for numerous players again not their fault that a fair few of them are playing a league above their level.
  22. He is indeed their captain and only last month signed a new five year contract. Having conceded 7 in their last 2 games you'd have thought he may well be back in the team soon.
  23. Win a free kick near the goal or a penalty and hope Charlie puts it away.
  24. Why would Norwich even considering letting him go? He's their club captain, just signed a new long term contract and now he has got back fit after a few months out with injury I would imagine he will be back in the side especially considering they have conceded 7 in their last 2 games.
