You get the sense Blackburn are struggling aerially says the commentator. It's taken him 57 minutes to notice it Mowbray's been here nearly two years and still hasn't addressed it. -

I don't reckon Bell would look out of place in the Northern Counites. An awful footballer. -

I reckon a light gust of wind would be enough to knock Armstrong of the ball. -

I said we should have signed Windass in the summer and was derided by many on here. He's been quality tonight everything that our attackers haven't been. -

Graham of Williams on. Does Mowbray realise we are losing? Is Williams going to play the false 9? -

Awful. But no surprise its a team that as I said before the game has been set up not to lose. -

I've nothing against Smallwood (he's been a solid player for us) but I'd love to know what Mowbray thinks he brings to the midfield that Reed doesn't as for me Reed does everything Smallwood does and more and it would also allows us to play one of Palmer, Brereton or Rothwell wide. I know Williams was bad on Saturday but Bell has been awful all season. It looks like a team set up not to lose rather than a team sent to go out there and take the initiative. -
Also it was 0-0 Against Sheffield United when Graham went off.

You really think that Bournemouth are going to complain about the Daily Star saying how much each player earns according to Football Manager? And yes I would guess that Grabban's wages are probably less now as he is a Championship player whereas he was a Premier League player when at Bournemouth. If a player becomes available who has the ability to win games then you are going to have to pay them more, its the same at every club the best players earn the most money. How do you expect Rovers to progress if they aren't going to pay players more than what the current one are on, how are you going to attract better players otherwise? As for Rovers won't be paying those sort of wages anymore how do you know? If I'd have said in June that we were going to spend £7 million on a player we'd have probably all thought there was no chance of that let alone spending £7 Million on a reserve wide man to sit on the bench.
-
So your basing what Grabban is on at Championship Nottingham Forrest in 2018 on what the Daily Star and Football Manager claim he was on at Premiership Bournemouth in 2016? Not exactly are reliable source is it? But if you believe that perhaps you could tell me what Football Manager have Grabban earning at Forest? I assume you mean Sheffield Wednesday? They aren't in a mess because they bought one or two players on big wages they are in a mess because they have a multitude of players on no doubt on big wages the likes of Bannan, Fletcher, Hooper, Boyd, Forestieri, Lees, Westwood and they are still paying some of Rhodes' wages as well. But it they really needed the money there would be no shortage of clubs offering good money for the likes of Bannan, Forestieri, Reach and Lees.
-
I'd be more worried about the ability of the striker than his age. You've no idea what Grabban's wages are you have just plucked a number out of the sky with no evidence that it is correct. Also just because Brereton is young it doesn't automatically mean we will get a resale value, he's going to have to significantly on his performances so far if we are going to make any sort of profit on him or indeed our money back.
-
Indeed. A bit embarrassing really. Waggott feeling the heat?

A couple of years ago Pitman would have been ok but this year he has been starting on the Portsmouth bench the majority of the time. If we are going into League 1 for a striker then I would go for Liam Boyce at Burton and I reckon that we would get him for a maximum of £2 Million.
-
You sign a project cheap and hope to work on their potential for a club in our position to spend £7 Million (one of the most expensive signings in the club's history) you expect the player to be more than a sub to throw on (out of position) when you need a goal. If you had said to me that we would buy a player for £7 million and by December he would not have started a game then I would not have believed you. I would imagine that no other club in the Championship has spent £5 million+ on a player who is yet to start a game (unless injured). Forest must be laughing at us we are paying £7 Million for Brereton and for £1 million less they got Grabban a prove goal scorer at this level who is already the second highest goal scorer in the league this season. There is plenty of value out there you just have to look for it and that may involve looking in abroad or in the lower leagues. For example Pukki cost Norwich nothing, Maupay last year cost Brenford £1.5 Million, Marriott cost Derby around £3.5 Million.
-
The way that Mowbray talks about Brereton I'm beginning to wonder if he'd ever seen him play before signing him as the way he talks it seems like the player he's got is the player he thought that he had signed. You'd hope that plenty of homework was done on the lad before spending such a big sum of money. If you'd have said to Rovers fans that we would spend £7 Million on a player I'm sure that we would have all thought that by December he would have started a few games yet he still hasn't started a game. Are we really in a position to spend £7 Million on a young impact sub who may or may not have some potential?
-
If Palmer had a run in a team playing in one position I get the feeling that there is plenty of ability there however here he has been in and out the side playing a variety different positions, I can see Chelsea recalling him in January. As for Armstrong you didn't miss out on much there he was decent for us in League 1 but had struggled in the Championship previously and it's easy to see why his running is one dimensional and he is muscled off the ball to easy.

Not at all Graham had proven himself at this level. Madine hasn't. Madine scored a few goals during a little purple patch at Bolton in the Championship other than that nearly all his goals have been in League 1. Graham scored goals in the Premier League for Swansea and in the Championship for Watford including being the League's top scorer in one season. Madine has done nothing near that he has only scored more than 10 league goals in a season once despite playing most of his career in League 1.
-
Difference being Graham had scored goals at the highest level and had been a pretty prolific scorer of goals in the Championship. Madine on the other hand had a few good months in the Championship other that that most of his goals have been in League 1.
-
Madine? The bloke hasn't scored for nearly a year. Morris is hardly prolific he managed 6 goals in the whole of last season for Shrewsbury. I'd like to see us look in the foreign market much more value for money there look at Maupay at Brentford scores goals for fun and only cost about £1.5 Million.
-
Tell me if Burke is as good as you say, why does he barely ever make the WBA bench let alone play? To me Burke seems to have had a purple patch for a few months at Forest a few years ago, left for big money and done nothing of note since and only has a reputation because he moved for big money at a young age.
-
Villa's front 4 are quality. And they also have the likes of Bolasie, El Ghazi and Hogan on the bench.
-
Watching Adomah for Villa now. We could do with someone in that mould on the wing with a bit of pace to get down the wing and then put some good quality crosses into the box for Graham and Dack. Bennett had so much space at times in the first half yesterday and did nothing with it.

Transfer Window - Success or Failure
Ewood Ace replied to roversfan99's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The most telling thing about our signings is that only Reed the only one who is a regular week in week out he's has been the stand out signing by far. Palmer I feel a bit sorry for as he clearly has ability but he is in and out of the team and is being played all over the place, so it is hard for him to build up any consistency. Rothwell looks a tidy player who will get better the more he play's but Mowbray doesn't seem to have much faith in him. Rodwell we need to take our time with but he has looked good and if we manage him well he could be a key player for years to come. Armstrong has been poor bar the Leeds game, you can see why he hasn't cut it at this level before as he is one dimensional when he has the ball and to lightweight as well. As for Brereton major questions are beginning to arise for Mowbray in regards to the lad. Did Mowbray sign him as a striker or a winger? I would guess a striker as that is where he played at Bristol City when he came on for his debut (although he hasn't played there since). In which case you have to ask why isn't he playing as a striker now and why wasn't more due diligence done before spending such a big sum of money? Fair enough Brereton is young and may have potential but if a club in our position (or indeed any Championship club) is spending £7 Million on a player you would have thought that he would have started a few games yet Brereton has been available for 12 games and still not started one game.
