Barnsley v Rovers, Wed 17th Feb

Did he? His second game at Boro he should have been sent of and given a penalty away, at QPR his poor clearance led to their goal and then last night and against Preston he had nightmares. -
Mowbrays Successor

If he wants to be a first team manager then at some point he is going to have to leave United and in all likelihood take a wage drop. Also I doubt Michael Carrick is going to be on the bread line if he takes a wage drop, he's working in football because he obviously loves the game if he didn't want to work then he wouldn't need to do another day's work in his life. Not everything in life is about money. -

The Rovers job when Appleton took it on was a huge job for a young manager like Appleton was at the time. If he was going to be a success here then he needed time to sort out what was a complete mess but he was afforded little time, along with that he was badly let down by Shaw in the transfer market. I think Appleton has shown at Oxford and now at Lincoln that he is a decent manager, the Rovers job was a case of the wrong job at the wrong time for him. -

The way I see it there are 3 paths you can go down for the next appointment. The first path is bringing in an experienced pair of hands who has had success at this level or above before. For this the names that immediately spring to mind are Pearson, Hughes, Wagner, Pulis and Jokanovic. The second path is going down the foreign route as the likes of Norwich, Reading, Barnsley and Brentford have all successfully done. I don't know enough about overseas football to suggest any particular names here although given the way he spoke about us as a club after we played them the Reading manager might be a realistic target. The third path is a younger manager who may not bring immediate success but who would be capable of building a team that can get promotion as come the start of next season a rebuild is going to be needed after this hugely disappointing season. The names that spring to mind here are the likes of Danny Cowley, Nathan Jones, Michael Flynn, Darren Moore or Alex Neil. -

Yet it's more than 5 of the 6 right back's who yesterday you named as better than Nyambe. In fact only 2 right backs in the entire Championship have more assists than Nyambe. -

Why not? He's our best defender and he has improved no end going forward. One of you big complaints about him last season was his lack of assists he has more than put that right this season. -
And so it should be given the money that has been spent, when he joined we had sold all our best players and replaced them with freebies and loans. After spending what must be getting on for £20 Million and not having to sell any key players you'd expect any manager would have an improved squad.

Really? Lenihan hasn't improved for many years, Bell has been poor during his time here, Ayala and Douglas looks shadows of the players they have been previously at this level and Williams hasn't improved in 4 years. Rothwell has been at the club 3 years and the only thing that has been consistent about him is his inconsistency. Gallagher is a worse player now than 4 years ago thanks to Mowbray's shocking use of him. Brereton has improved slightly in that he has gone from looking like a Northern League player to a National league player. Buckley looks like a lost little boy in every game he plays, Travis' progress looks to have stunted in the last 12 months. Corry Evans has been the Corry Evans we have had for the last 7-8 years, a waste of space. Bennett has been past it for a long time, Johnson is well past his best, Holtby's performances have been poorer the longer he has been here. Now Graham has gone I don't think that Mowbray has a clue how to use Dack. The only 2 players I would say have really improved under Mowbray are Armstrong and Nyambe although I believe that Nyambe may be more in spite of Mowbray rather than due to him.

I think it is more Dunn belittling the club than people belittling him. Although it's not the first time from him is it remember when he attacked the fans in order to stick up for Kean. -
How times change and it's so unlike Tony to move the goalposts when things aren't going well. November 2019: 'This is Blackburn Rovers' - Boss maintains need for ambition | Lancashire Telegraph Feb 2021:

Dack isn't going to want Mowbray going anywhere. Dack like Mowbray lacks ambition if he had any he'd have moved on a few years ago. Mowbray's holiday camp attitude is ideal for Dack he can play a bit of football as well as be a Z list reality tv star, I couldn't imagine someone like Mark Hughes or Nigel Pearson being so accommodating. -

Can't agree with Kean, awful awful man. But as a bloke I'd much rather have Coyle than Mowbray, yes he's a clown but seems a decent bloke. Mowbray on the other hand has a massive chip on his shoulder, I've never known a person (other than politicians) feel the need to constantly tell people what a great guy they are and what a morally virtuous life they live. -

Already after his next pay day after Fleetwood work out he's useless. -
I'm sorry but with this comment he has almost reached Kean levels of hate for me. He say's this about our great club yet when we played his beloved Boro (who have one major honour in their entire history) the other week he talked them up like they were Man United. If he really wants to show the club a bit of respect then just bugger off.

Absolutely pitiful, I think we are getting worse by the game. Just like Friday night a 2-1 defeat flattered us. After a first half where both sides looked terrible the Barnsley manager didn't hang about long before making changes and they worked a treat. Our clown on the other hand when he finally did decide to make some subs used the same formula that has repeatedly failed of just putting on attackers one after another with no balance or structure to it whatsoever. The defence was shocking a better side than Barnsley would have put 4 or 5 past us. Bellis and Branthwaite might be good prospects but they are kids with very little senior football to their name and we are asking them to help get this team into the top 6. Bellis' defending for the first goal really summed up our performance, static and no urgency. He stands of Morris and let's him get his shot away but it wasn't just him the whole team were lethargic, second to every ball and second best in the tackle. We currently sit 12th and are only one point closer to the play offs than we are to the bottom 3. Unless action is taken soon with loans ending and players leaving then this time next year Tony's journey could well be taking us in a direction that none of us want. Mowbray Out! -

Let's hope Tony's got his big coat he might be a bit more interested then. -
Lenihan has been terrible this season and Ayala has had one good game since signing. Your desire to share the same views as Mowbray on everything is making you look silly. You went all the way back to Newcastle 5 months ago to find a goal that Nyambe was at fault for. For Lenihan you only need to go back a matter of days to Preston's first goal where his headed clearance is poor and then if you go back just a few days more days to QPR he again failed to clear his lines with another poor header. I could go on with a few more mistakes leading to goals before we get back to 5 months ago when Nyambe made a mistake that led to one. As for Ayala the last time Ayala stepped on a pitch for Rovers resulted some comedic defending from him and Douglas to help Sheff Weds open the scoring.
-
So overall who do you think is our best defender?
-
Do you not think that is a sad indictment of Mowbray that after 4 years in charge you don't think any of our defenders are good? Surely a sackable offence?
-
Shock horror a defender has made a few mistakes leading to goals over the last 3 years. I hate to break it to you but every defender in world football has made mistakes that have cost goals in the last 3 years. The fact that you had to go back to Newcastle for a mistake he made that cost us a goal suggests that he is defending rather well. Whereas with the like of Lenihan and Branthwaite you would only have to go back a matter of days. Who would you say is out best defender? Stacey is poor defensively.
