Swansea 9th March at Home
Ewood Ace replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
One thing we can't afford to do against this lot is touch them in the box because they won't hesitate to dive. They are the sort of side who epitomise everything that is wrong with modern football with their diving and over the top bench that jump around at the slightest thing trying to influence the ref. -

A very debatable penalty for me. Just in this game Boro had a perfectly good goal disallowed for a foul when if it was a foul it was on a Boro player and should have been a pen for them. Warnock over the years has had some absolutely horrendous decision's against him and he does seem to have more than most go against him. As I say I have long thought that there is an agenda from officials towards Warnock and I think it stems from the fact that they don't like that he is a qualified ref. -

Interesting comments from Warnock about Swansea, ref's and Steve Cooper's dad. I must say the thought has crossed my mind before. One thing is for certain Swansea get a lot of iffy decisions go their way. -
Still needs a win from the 1 of next 2 to better his 6 points from 10 games that saw him resign from Coventry sighting that he was an 'honourable guy'

Gavin Ward causing carnage in the Swansea V Boro game with some abysmal refereeing. I've said it before but to me there looks to be a clear agenda from officials against Warnock. -
A big much needed win which should all but assure survival. But it was frustrating watching and thinking what could have been. Firstly Dolan has been used almost exclusively as a sub since the first few weeks of the season and when you see him today you can't help but think how he may have injected some life into some of those abysmal first halves that we have witnessed over the last few months. Dack looking so much better playing in his best position. If Lenihan played like that every game rather in every 1 in 3 or 4 then we'd be right in touch with the top 6, our results so often parallel how he performs. And finally Millwall went into today 10th and are still 11th and they are a hard working side but have no where near the quality that we have in our squad.

Any excuse to drop Nyambe.

England utterly clueless how to bat on turning pitches but it's not a surprise as when a county produces them and produces spinners for England their reward is a points deduction. The selection for the last 2 test was terrible, you really do wonder if they even looked at the pitch. The rotation and sending players home seemed to have no thought to it, it almost seems as though they have prioritised T20 cricket. All that said this is a fantastic India team, probably their best ever. When you look at some of the high quality players who either missed out through injury or non selection for this series their strength in depth is quite something. If England are going to get back to the top of test cricket then we need to start treating first class cricket in this country with more respect instead of playing in mainly in April, May and September and weakening the competition with this stupid change of structure. Sadly none of that will happen anytime soon as the ECB have wasted a fortune on a tournament that we don't need and is not cricket. We were told after the 2019 Ashes that winning them back in Australia in 20/21 would be the priority but looking ahead to that you'd have to say that another hiding down under looks on the cards.

Was a decent left back but never a centre back. He should really have been moved on a while ago.

The Relegation Thread

The main reason Hull went down is that they sold their best two player in Grosicki and Bowen (who for me was the best player in the entire division) and never replaced them. I think we will have enough to stay up but for the first time this season after Rotherham's win last night I am looking slightly nervously down the table. -
If he hadn't inherited Graham from Coyle then he wouldn't have lasted far into the League 1 campaign. Graham didn't play the start of that season and he tried to play this short passing football and we were poor. It was only when Graham came into the team and he went more direct that we found a winning formula with Graham and Dack. Now Graham is gone he has no idea how to use Dack and he has gone back to this short passing football but again performances and results have been poor.

It was Keith Andrews. I thought he spoke a lot of sense about us last night. -

Another clean sheet for Carter tonight. He seems to be doing very well. -

He's not much better than Coyle he's just had a lot more money to spend and hasn't had to sell any key players. And despite spending getting on for £20 Million and having plenty off time we are still only 8 positions better off than when Coyle was sacked. -
If that isn't the interview of a beaten man then I don't know what is. He's practically begging for his pay off.

He's a good goalkeeper but the last few games he has been looked very frenetic and not the composed keeper and calming influence that he was earlier in the season. -

A comfortable win for Reading who never had to get out of second gear. Completely devoid of any ideas in attack and just reliant on a bit of individual quality from someone, Keith Andrews on co-commentary had us sussed very quickly as well. Kaminski is looking very frenetic of late a far cry from the calm and composed keeper he was earlier in the season. The defence I thought was solid tonight with the exception of Lenihan who was a bit rash at times Harwood-Bellis certainly looked an improvement on Branthwaite as did Bell compared to Douglas. The midfield was far to pedestrian and easy to play against. Evans did a job out of possession but he offers nothing progressive on the ball just side ways and backwards. Trybull at times was almost playing deeper than Kaminski and his range of passing makes Evans' look like Tugay's. No forward passes and nothing more than 5 yards. I'm at a loss as to what type of midfielder he is because he he can't pass and he doesn't seem to enjoy getting his foot in. Rothwell one of the few attacking players who offered anything but because of the lack of forward passing from Evans and Trybull had to come far to deep to receive the ball. The front 3 didn't offer enough, Brereton was about the best of the 3. Dack whilst he didn't play great was at least getting into some better positions. -
He's now talking on Sky about getting promoted in 5 years time. Dear god, there's a thought to go to bed on.

In an ideal world yes although they aren't exactly far apart at the moment. But had they come out and said we want it all under one roof and are going to be moving to a new site in order to have the space to fit it all in and to have state of the art facilities then fair enough. There would probably still have been some scepticism but the fact that they were moving to a new bigger site would have at least shown that they were perhaps serious about it being state of the art. What they are proposing though looks like a downgrade on all levels and just a way to recoup some loses.

Mowbrays Successor
Ewood Ace replied to Darwen Rover 007's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Hughesy on Monday night football tonight looking and sounding refreshed and ready get back into management. A stark to the despondent and tired looking and sounding Mowbray. -
He's certainly been trying desperately hard the last few weeks to drum up some Premiership interest in Armstrong. Tony Mowbray responds to Adam Armstrong future amid West Ham links and discusses asset scenario - LancsLive

So here is Tony's master plan to get promoted. Good recruitment- That is certainly not something you could say he has shown us. Developing your own academy players- Well he is certainly keen to develop other clubs players but not so much our own as can be seen by the fact we have two teenager centre backs in on loan whilst two older ones from our academy are out own loan. Raya was an academy product and regular scapegoat and he has now been replaced in that role by another academy product in Nyambe. Having and identity and structure to the way you play- No one who has watched us play the last 4 months or so could accuse us of having either. One week we are so called performance related and then we win playing poorly and suddenly it's all about the results. Develop over a period of time- He has spent getting on for £20 Million and we are currently just 8 places higher than when he first came in. Developing at that rate it means he is going to need at least another 5 years and £20 Million just to get us into the play offs. Rovers owners Venky's must have a plan for the future - Mowbray | Lancashire Telegraph

Tyler Magloire's loan spell
Ewood Ace replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Good to see him and Carter both getting games and seemingly doing well. Much less good though about the likes of Hilton and Grayson sat on the bench and Vale not even getting in the Rochdale squad. I don't think we do enough due diligence about the amount of football a player is going to get out on loan Brennan at Fylde earlier this season was another case in point. -
