  1. That was over 12 years ago now even Owen Coyle has got promotion from this division more recently.
  2. He's best suited to not being on the pitch.
  3. Another stark reality check of just how far away we are from being a genuine threat at this level. At the moment we are flat track bullies. The defence tonight was a total shambles, JRC is not a full back but we know by now that Mowbray has a problem with Nyambe. Williams was poor and Lenihan was again the worst player on the field. Douglas didn't look much of an upgrade on Bell either. Sorting the defence out was a priority this summer and he failed to do it adequately again, surely even he can't have thought that signing an injury prone Ayala would be the answer to all the central of defensive problems. It beggars belief really that he signed 3 goalies but only one centre back. He simply has to go now, he clearly hasn't got what it takes to take us to the next level. The way Gallagher is consistently used as a wide man just shows that he is either not bright enough to see what doesn't work or is too stubborn to change. Just like with this awful 4-3-3 formation it doesn't work but he keeps persisting with it.
  4. Out powered, out worked, out thought and out classed. Mowbray Out!
  5. I would argue that stats can give a misleading representation of the game. Look at our game last week at Watford people on here were raving about the shots and possession we had and if you looked at the stats you'd have though we battered Watford but when you used you eyes you would have seen that we were comfortably beaten by a side who were happy to sit back and counter and never needed to get out of 2nd gear. The score is the only story that matters you don't get any bonus points for having good stats.
  6. Goals scored and conceded are the only stats that have a bearing on where you finish in the table. Some people like to obsess over other stats but at the end of the day they are obsolete in the grand scheme of things. It's an incredibly flawed model. If you really want to know these sort of things use your eyes instead of flawed stats.
  7. It's a completely pointless and useless stat, the only stat that matter is how many goals you score. Look at Aston Villa the other day they scored 7 and could have had easily had more against Liverpool and the expected goals for them was just 3 goals.
  8. The FA's handling of this years competition has been a complete shambles. Be it on crowds, forfeits and today on prize money they have been a shambles. You get the impression that they are just making it up as they go along. It's almost like they are trying to de value the competition.
  9. It's a load of crap. There's a lot of pointless stats out there these days but expected goals is the most pointless and useless of them all. That's the only angle Waggott ever looks at things at. The solution was simple give the refund we had what 8500 season ticket holders and sizeable portion of them would not have requested a refund anyway. Clubs in much worse financial situations than Rovers managed to offer refunds to those who wanted it. The they couldn't afford it argument no longer holds any traction after they extended contracts of players who never played and then you see the money that has been spent on wages and transfers over the summer. As for talking about fans under Waggott fans are not valued or treated like fans. They are purely seen as customers and his only interested in them is how much money he can milk out of them.
  10. I said at the moment we look like flat track bullies, which at the moment is perfectly true. In terms of points collected we have beaten 3 of the bottom 4 teams scoring 13 goals. In our other 4 games against sides higher up the table we have 3 goals and 1 point from 4 games. At the moment the flat track bullies tag is fair win in midweek and then on Saturday and we will have removed that tag. Wycombe and Coventry are 2 poor sides who got promoted from League 1 by playing less than 75% of a season and in Wycombe's case they were 9th when the season ended. Brereton played well yesterday perhaps it was because the opposition was more on his level.
  11. Which bit of 'at the moment' was difficult to comprehend?
  12. Also two sides who got promoted from League 1 after playing less than 75% of the season and in Wycombe's case they were 9th in the table. At the moment we are looking like flat track bullies.
  13. He's always the fall guy with Mowbray.
  14. There's no doubt about it Brereton was originally signed to take over from Graham however his performances soon showed that he wasn't capable of playing the role. I would play 4-2-3-1.
  15. He spent £12 Million on 2 target men to replace Graham but they are not good enough to play the role. So we have had to change our system and style because he failed to bring in an adequate replacement for Graham. But this 4-3-3 system does not suit us at all.
  16. Kaminski Nyambe Lenihan Williams Douglas Trybull Johnson Elliott Holtby Dolan Armstrong Subs: Pears, JRC, Wharton, Evans, Chapman, Brereton, Gallagher
  17. Only if the aim is mid table in the Championship. If our aim is to get promoted then a change is needed and quickly.
  18. Having seen how we defended I don't think anyone could argue that we were set up right.
  19. If you defend like we did tonight then you won't win many games let alone win them convincingly. Also you can talk about football men and laymen all you like but at the end of the day the only thing that has an impact on the table is results.
  20. Sides will watch that, along with our other games this season and come to the same conclusion that Watford did. Sit back, let them have the ball and then take them apart on the counter. Because League 1 is his level.
  21. You don't need to dominate the ball to beat Rovers. Sides are happy to sit back, lets us have the ball and then hit us on the counter. We have only won one game this season when we have had more possession and perhaps not coincidently the only game where we didn't have the majority of the possession produced our best performance of the season. Ben Foster is a top goalkeeper who should be in the Premiership. He played for one of my local clubs on loan at step 3 nearly 20 years ago now he was an excellent goalie then and knowing a few of the lads that played with him they spoke highly of him. It just shows how a non league loan can help a young player develop, I think we should be looking into that for the likes of Buckley.
  22. We have one point and one goal from our last 3 games. For me that is not positive. Tonight we were comfortably beaten by a Watford side who never needed to get out of 2nd gear, if they needed to they had a few more gears to go up. We have a good squad of players but under this manager we will not achieve anything.
  23. How is he going to get ready if he doesn't play?
  24. Watford won that game at a canter without ever having to get out of second gear. As for the possession stats they are absolutely pointless as sides are very happy for us to have possession as then they can hit us on the counter which Watford did tonight to devastating effect.
  25. I'm sure its hilarious but I have absolutely no idea what that means.
