Newcastle United away in the League Cup
Ewood Ace replied to philipl's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
First things first ditch the awful 4-3-3 formation. As for the team I'd go with. Kaminski Nyambe Lenihan Wharton Williams Evans Travis Dolan Holtby Rothwell Armstrong Subs: Fisher, Williams, Davenport, Bennett, JRC, Chapman, Brereton -
Ayala is a good player but even if he signs we will still need another centre back as Lenihan and Ayala are both prone to injuries.
-
I can't see Mowbray signing a convicted rapist given he claimed he didn't sign someone because of how they dressed.
-
You could counter that with if Dolan doesn't give the ball away perhaps we get a point. Sides will always look back at if's, but's and maybe's over the course of the 90 minutes but the only thing that has any relevance is the full time score.

There is a hierarchy of goalkeepers at pretty much every club. In an ideal world then yes you have a second choice keeper who is fantastic but this is a mid table Championship club who have let in 132 goals over the last 2 seasons and have not added any defenders to that defence. You need a defence that can defend otherwise you are not going to achieve much. A Camp or a Steele would provide solid experienced competition/back up for Kaminski and would be free transfers allowing us to use funds to buy starting 11 players for our defence.
-
You are never going to get much if any of a resale value from a second choice keeper, take Leutwiler as an example a cheap back up signing but we still made a loss on him. I'd rather get a steady experienced back up option on a free and spend money on positions where we have no dominant starter i.e. Centre back, Left back. You only need to look at the players when ever we concede a goal no one rallying the players they just all walk back to their positions with their heads down. We are lacking any really strong characters and have far too many weak ones.
-
It's a second choice keeper who cares about resale value and if he is going to sit on the bench most of the time then his value isn't exactly going to sky rocket. All I want from a reserve keeper is someone with some experience who can comfortably fill in and who can also if needed give Kaminski some advice should he at any point struggle to adapt to the Championship. Leutiwler was ideal for the role in League 1 and I think someone like Camp or Steele would be ideal for the role this and probably next season, by which point hopefully one of the young keepers we already have on our books will hopefully be ready for the first team squad.

A free transfer so that the money can be spent where it is needed most, on the defence. The likes of Luke Steele, Lee Camp, Jordan Archer all have plenty of Championship experience and are available on frees.
-
Sounds like the only thing that has changed in 10 years is that he has become even more deluded.
-
The defending by Lenihan for the winning goal was criminal. Just show him down the line the one place you don't show him is inside and allow him to get his shot away, that is worse than schoolboy stuff. And sadly he is one of our best defenders, which just sums up the sorry state of our defence. Mowbray got the result he deserved today for his negligence in the market but sadly reading what he said after it seems like he is as deluded as ever.
-
Just shows how lucky Mowbray is he gets funds to strengthen his squad every summer and is seemingly under no pressure to sell his key assets. There's not many manager in the Championship who would be fortunate enough to say that.
-
Didn't you? ?
-
A few weeks ago you were saying that we had a budget for this summer of around £5 Million, now you are saying that we couldn't afford to pay Alfie Mawson's wages in full. You U-turn as much as your mate Boris.
-
Williams looks like Nilton Santos there when compared with Bell. Williams can do the basic's defensively and going forward can cross a ball.
-
That's most likely why so many these of these signings keep falling through. The players meet Mowbray and soon realise that the club isn't getting to the Premier League.
-
QPR and Preston away last season. Shocking in both games.
-
He's nearly 21, supposedly the next great hope and yet he has managed to start just 5 games of league football for us. He would be far better of going out on loan and playing regularly.
-
Send him out on loan to the National North or Northern Premier League for a few months that would soon toughen him up. Dack's injury was hardly Morsy's fault.
-
Seeing that I can't understand why anyone wouldn't want to sign for him. ? Blimey talk about negative, I should think the second he meets an ambitious player the lad turns around and walks out the door.
-
So in other words you will only compare when it suits your argument and when it doesn't suit your argument then you are not bothered about other clubs.
-
How about last summer.
-
More excuses. Anyway I thought that you weren't bothered about what other clubs are doing?
-
Very strong in midfield.
-
More excuses time after time from you.

Capello has to deal with FA interference which meant he couldn't do it his way. Capello was a great manager who decided he could do without it and walked away. Southgate is just a yes man for the FA and he knows that this is the biggest job that he will ever get.
