So why has Mowbray (who you are a big backer of) only given him 5 league starts, given he is such a talent? Also why haven't any of these Premiership clubs (if they exist) put a bid in for him if they watch him regularly and are hugely impressed with him, as you allege? You carry on listening to your chums but I'll judge him with my eyes and so far he has looked like a boy in a man's game whenever he has played. As I said on here earlier unless he can strengthen his upper body he could quite easily be playing non-league in a few years time. There a lot of players like Buckley plying their trade down there, players who have come through good academy's are technically good but go missing when it gets physical as they cannot handle that side of the game.

Firstly you have no idea what I did for a living Secondly talking of people who do it for a living it is strange that Tony Mowbray has such a superstar on his books yet nearly at the age of 21 he has only started 5 league games.
-
These clubs haven't signed him yet though have they. I wonder why? Given the money that Premiership clubs are awash with his fee would be chicken feed for them. One wonders if they really even exist. I personally would rather use my own eyes to judge someone rather go off what someone else tells me.

The thing with Buckley is he's not a 17 or 18 year old kid like say Bellingham at Birmingham was. He's nearly 21 and has had very little impact on the first team yet. There were players in the division last season of a similar age who had a much bigger impact for their club than Buckley did for us. If Buckley does get stronger then he could be a decent Championship player for us but he is not this £10 Million wonderkid that some on here seem to think.

I wouldn't even pay that for admission to watch a friendly let alone to watch a stream. -
I suppose it all depends on how you define players being produced by the academy. Personally I wouldn't class players like Travis, Raya, Lenihan, Pilkington and Hanley as players produced by our academy as they all joined from others clubs at the age 17 or 18. I'd personally class players like Hoillett, Garner and Buckley as players produced by our academy, as they are players who were in the academy from when they were school kids. Personally I think the way for a club like us to go is to pick up players like Travis and JRC who don't quite make it at big Premier League clubs, but who have had the experience in a top academy and who we can then take on to develop for our level.
-
I'm not sure what his actual role is. But to play football at any decent level you need a certain degree of strength which at the moment Buckley doesn't have. It why he gets bullied off the ball and looks like a boy playing in a mans game.

Next winter. Tours of India and Sri Lanka this winter. Dependent on Covid of course.

Being slight doesn't necessarily mean he's soft but his performances show that he is. He looks like a boy in a man's game most of the time. I thought that him and Brereton were comfortably our 2 poorest performers yesterday.

Not unless he toughens up otherwise within a few years he could quite easily be playing non-league. There a lot of players like Buckley plying their trade down there, players who have come through good academy's are technically good but go missing when it gets physical as they cannot handle that side of the game.

The only two you can say that for certain about are Travis and Nyambe who are already well established in the first team. JRC looks well on the way although I'd say long term if he is going to become a regular he would be better of playing further forward. None of the other players mentioned have shown anything so far to suggest that they are going to be mainstays over the next few years. Wharton is nearly 23 and you'd have to think if he doesn't make it this season then he isn't going to. Carter played two games and looked well short of the required ability. Buckley unless he toughens up isn't going to make it and it wouldn't surprise me if in a few years he was playing in League 2 or the National League. Butterworth has just had a very serious injury, suffering one at such a young age it may well damage his progress. Brennan and Vale are both teenagers one of which has never played a competitive men's game and the other has played about 10 minutes. They may turn out to be good players but at the moment it is impossible to state with such certainty that they will be mainstays.

If we aren't looking to sign at striker then I don't have a problem with that as long as Gallagher is going to be used centrally.

Anyone with an announce of sense will know how our finances will have been severely damaged by Covid. That is an undisputed fact and you only make yourself look foolish trying to deny it.

Says the person who posted yesterday that we had a £5 Million budget. Based on nothing except some crazy ridiculous calculations.

He was hopeless nearly every time the ball went up to him he was either offside or committed a foul. -

The team second half looked much sharper of course that may have been because the Fleetwood team tired but I though they looked a level above the first half team. Stand out performers for me were Chapman, Armstrong, Dolan. Of the keepers I thought Eastham looked much more assured even when put under pressure by some poor back passes, my main worry with him would be his height for crosses. I thought Brereton and Buckley were very poor and Williams looked like an accident waiting to happen at centre half. A decent work out and for a friendly a fairly watchable game. -

The two worst players on show for either team by a country mile. -
We haven't done him any favours either by giving him loans where he just sits on the bench.

Brereton missed penalty. ? -
But clubs will see that and when it comes to selling their player they will know going into negotiations that Rovers had X amount left over from the previous window so we are automatically starting negotiations on the back foot. Coming out and saying what you had left over is just as foolish as coming out and announcing your budget.
-
I haven't demanded that. Personally I wouldn't say anything but that fact is other the years both Mowbray and Waggott have both talked very openly about the budget even going so far as to saying how much money was left over. The fact that they haven't this season since Mowbray said he hadn't had clarity and the fact that no one has signed so far makes me very nervous about the budget or rather lack of as the case may be.
-
You didn't answer my questions. Which other clubs other than ours make a big thing about their owner having to go to India every summer to meet the owner to discuss the budget? Which other clubs manager other than ours was saying after the season had ended that he hadn't had full clarity on his budget? It is Mowbray and Waggott who every summer are in the media talking about the budget regularly. They have even come out after this January's window and a previous summer window to say that we had money left over. Which other clubs does this happen at?
