As Mark said, he was released
-
He did fine on loan at the same club in the same division the season before, and last seasons loan was a half season loan, based off the strength of that. He featured in 4 games in under a month, scoring in his final appearance, before injury cut short his loan, and he only played twice for our U18s after that The previous season (aged 17) he was a regular for the U18s, and played a few minutes for the U21s too, before his loan at the end of that season. Hopefully that season is more indicative of his ability & durability than last season The midfielder you can't remember is Isaac Whitehall

"hot shot" seems to mean something far different than I would have presumed π He is an 18 year old without a senior appearance to his name I would assume he would be a signing for the U21s for whoever signs him -

Not quite, League 1 & 2 spending is limited based solely on income. As far as I can tell the new rules just mean that if a rich owner wants to spend Β£60M on players at a League 1 club he also has to spend Β£40M on infrastructure Championship spending is limited based on profit/loss Mental though to have different rules -

Not sure that the rule change stops an owner who is determined to splash the cash, it just ensures that they have to also spend on infrastructure "It means that should an owner of a League One side invest Β£100m in their club they could only spend just over Β£60m on players." Unless there is a more recent rule change also? -

Championship Season 25-26

The most mental part of that is that if it is for the Louie Barry loan, he was only there for 4 months! So a loan fee for a promising youngster who has not yet performed above League 1 level is Β£250K a month! -

Gilsenan has moved to Grimsby (League 2) on a 2 year deal https://gtfc.co.uk/zak-gilsenan-is-a-mariner/ Hope he does well and builds himself a career, he has had terrible luck with injuries
-
Hardly featured last season, either on loan or for U18s/U21s. I am assuming he was injured & the 1 year deal is his chance to see if he can push on to U21 level after a year out. But just as easily it could be Rovers not wanting to commit on wages more than 12 months into the future
-
Personally think he will get a top end of League 2, or bottom end of League 1 loan
-
Probably at a very low wage (albeit more than he would earn at a league 1 or 2 club), so he would only agree to a short term extension

I think there are either UEFA or FIFA guidelines on compensation, but they are pretty minimal -

The talk i saw from Stoke fans was that they would love to have him back in any capacity if possible, but there was no way on earth they could afford him "our primary target has to be replacing him with another behemoth, either permanent or on loan. Without that Phillips replacement, we're gonna leak goals like an incontinent pensioner." "Good CB and big career ahaead. Good luck to him. Seemed he cared when he was here to. Which i like." "Would love to see Phillips back next season as he was the stand out defender last season IMO. Canβt see it happening though, however would hate to see him team up with Souttar at Sheff Utd as weβd be looking on thinking of what might have been." -
Yes, right footed, right back, although has played left back on occasions (from memory mainly when Tripper has played right back)
-
I suppose the hope is that like Wharton & Carter, who were both still getting loans out at his age, a few lower league loans gets him ready eventually. Although personally see him falling behind both Atcheson & Litherland this year (2 players who the club would have been aware of when they signed O'Riordan as it was only a year and a half ago)

Connor O'Riordan has been loaned to Doncaster in League 1 (3rd tier) for the season

Jackson said they are not targeting an additional centre back to replace Batth .... beyond the left sided centre back that they were already targeting Will basically leave us with Carter & Hyam as right sided, Wharton & new guy as left sided options, with Atcheson, O'Riordan, Litherland as younger back up -

Wonder if it will be as Stuart Jones replacement, essentially as "loan manager"? Rovers have been advertising for the role, Lowe has worked with younger players as head of youth in the past & current day Rovers love an internal promotion -

Also, specifically sent to Forests sister club, where he was a regular starter. Would imagine the logic in that was to get him playing regularly and get his confidence back after a difficult period at Porto, with a view to integrating him into Forests squad this coming season, not to flog him to Rovers at a loss -

https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/25253573.blackburn-rovers-transfer-latest-ahead-second-summer-deal/ Blackburn Rovers are closing in on their second summer signing after agreeing a deal to sign Portuguese midfielder Sidnei Tavares. Valerien Ismael's side return for pre-season on Monday and the recruitment drive is stepping up at Ewood Park to bolster his squad. Having added Dion De Neve earlier this month and extending Adam Forshaw's contract for another season, Tavares will be their next addition. Rovers always wanted to add another midfielder, with a box-to-box, athletic profile desired by Ismael. Tavares, 23, looks to fit the bill. A deal, reported to be around Β£2million, has been struck with Primeira Liga side Moreirense. The former Leicester City man will fly over for a medical to sign a long-term contract at Ewood Park. Tavares made 29 appearances for Moreirense last season in the top flight of Portuguese football. To lure him to The Championship seems to be a coup given his standing. The 23-year-old has experience in England, after coming through the ranks at Leicester City. He made two appearances for the senior team before moving to Porto in 2021, predominantly playing for their B team. After a loan at Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer, this has been his breakthrough season after signing for Moreirense last summer. He has played predominantly as a holding midfielder, which will give Rovers another strong option alongside Sondre Tronstad and Lewis Travis. Whilst there is speculation around the long-term future of the midfield pair, with one year left on their deals, Rovers always wanted to add another midfielder on top of their options. They are seen as a key part of Ismael's squad and the club want to keep them. However, until either or both sign new deals, there will be doubts as to whether Tavares is a replacement. With Forshaw also recruited, they now have six options in central midfield. John Buckley was out of favour at the end of last season whilst Jake Garrett's loans at Bristol Rovers and Tranmere Rovers didn't set the world alight. Joe Rankin-Costello can also play that role but struggled for minutes under Ismael too. It feels likely that Rovers will look to offload those that may not feature heavily in that position, whether that's via a loan or permanent exit. Forshaw's return will offer the squad some much-needed experience, with Danny Batth and Andi Weimann not signed up to new deals. Both are still anticipated to join Derby County, which would leave a hole in the squad. Rovers haven't made any progress on advancing a deal for centre-back targets Modibo Sagnan or Mickael Nade. Rovers were hopeful of securing the former several weeks ago but the transfer has not progressed as they'd hoped with the player keen to see if Premier League interest emerges. Legia Warsawβs Steve Kapuadi is another name on their shortlist but any deal has not gone beyond the interest stage. The same for winger Casper Terho, who has been linked in overseas media this week.
