Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
KentExile replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He has loads of experience 😉 He held the same post at Accy last season from March until May, no I am not joking https://www.linkedin.com/in/kasom-shah/ Before that he was a tutor, again for Accrington, he finished his studies himself in the summer of 2024 -
Given that the U21s were scheduled to play 2 games in less than 24 hours last Monday & Tuesday, I cannot imagine that was part of their considerations https://www.rovers.co.uk/Matches/u21/?view=results

If Darragh Tuffy and Paul Butler hadn't essentially switched jobs during the summer, I would have expected it would have been an internal promotion, can't remember the last time it wasnt Sheron was an internal promotion Billy Barr before him also Damien Johnson, was with our U14s before taking the then U23s manager job is 2015 Who was before Johnson? I forget... was it Gary Bowyer? If so he was another internal promotion -

yep, they mentioned that after Sheron went, so I didn't think it worth mentioning again -
Preview of tonight's game for the U21s, apparently Goddard is injured and Forshaw may play https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2025/september/29/preview--leicester-city-under-21s-v-rovers-under-21s/ Also, just noticed that Rovers are not in the PL International Cup this year, They have been regular participants for several years I wonder if this is a competition that can be opted out of, and Rovers exclusion being possibly another sign of cost cutting?

We are today advertising for a new "Team Operations Manager", whose role includes "being responsible for all logistical administration at the Senior Training Centre for all senior training centre staff including coaches and players." That seems to have a bit of overlap with a "player liaison officer" doesn't it? https://www.rovers.co.uk/club/job-vacancies/ They are also advertising for an "emerging talent coach" for the women's team, who will be contracted to 2 hours a week -

It was a poor quality game overall, from both sides That is not meant as a dig at Charlton, The majority of the Championship is poor in terms of genuine quality, as the Prem hovers all the quality up. However, Charlton played to their strengths and deservedly got the 3 points Good luck for the rest of the season, if we are both very very lucky, we will not be in league 1 next season where the quality drops off the cliff even more. If Charlton continue to play to their strengths, then they should be ok -

For some reason, the twitter account stopped posting updates at half time I wonder if someone told them to button it and pretend it didn't happen? Obviously the dingles shouting the result from the rooftops though -

They were hoping he would be back during the October International break, but failing that, before the International break in November -

What's the record score/biggest win in English women's football? We could be setting a record just before our 150th? -

I believe from memory, that the main post that was taken offence at was one on twitter just after the transfer window closed, were Jackson stated that Suhail had rejected Jacksons/the LTs approach to speak with Rudy Gestede about the transfer window. Rovers then stated that Jackson had made it personal. With the issue being that he named Suhail specifically, therefore drawing more unwanted attention to him. "This culminated in a recent social media post in which matters became personal" Edit - If I am misremembering, can someone let me know, apparently Jackson later deleted whatever post it was, so there is no physical evidence of it, just my age addled memory 😉 -

to put forwards points which are of interest to Championship clubs as a whole, i the same way that there are also board members from League 1 & 2 clubs If something is too independent, it risks becoming out of touch with the people/clubs it is meant to serve -

v Ipswich Town (h) - 20/9/25
KentExile replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
They are on the EFL board, not the Championship board They are free to vote on situations which do not directly benefit them -
v Ipswich Town (h) - 20/9/25
KentExile replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The reason that the 3 Championship board members didn't vote, is that there would be an obvious conflict of interest if they did (leaving the EFLs decision open to a legal challenge from whichever team didn't get the result that they wanted) As things stand, nobody who voted gained in any way from the EFLs decision, The only reason that Rovers are questioning this is because the decision went against us. Can you imagine the kafuffle if Ridsdale had voted in favour of this result, Rovers lost the replay and and PNE pipped Rovers to staying up by a point, or if Norwich voted in favour of awarding Rovers the points, and subsequently finished in the play offs above Ipswich? For what it is worth, I feel that the fair result would have been to replay the game from the point it was abandoned/suspended, with as many factors remaining constant as possible (score/number of players, time left to play etc). And I hope that when a new rule is reached, this is what it is. If think it was a "cowardly" and easy decision which they made, however, nobody can accuse the EFLs board members of coming to any decision (regarding the Rovers Ipswich game) because it benefited them personally -

Maybe so, but it does no favours towards players like Tyjon, Montgomery, Michalski ect, who end up playing next to no football at any level At first team level, they are subs at most, so there is surely no harm in them having 30-45 mins for the U21s each week? If anything, surely that speeds up the conveyor belt? -
v Charlton Athletic (a) - 27/9/25
KentExile replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Even Tyjon, Michalski, Montgomery etc who are getting no game time for the first team and are still age wise, U21 players I think it's Adam Owen who is responsible for "alignment" between first team and the underage groups, but your point still stands, surely a few should be featuring at some point, the second U21 game last week was essentially the U18s, and a kid who had turned 14 earlier this month ended up playing 30 minutes from the bench, Rovers were 3-1 up when he came on, they lost 4-3 -
A few games this coming week U21s are away to Leicester on Monday night PL Cup (U17) game at home against the Dingles on Tuesday afternoon U21s are away to Stoke on Friday night U18s are away to Leeds on Saturday The U21s also have a couple of cup games during the international break Home to Leyton Orient on the 8th Oct in the Premier League Cup Away to Preston on the 14th Oct in the Central League Cup Wonder if they will try to replay the U18 Wolves game during the break?

Connor O'Riordan suffered an ankle injury hence his early exit. The on-loan Blackburn Rovers centre-half was replaced by Sean Grehan after just 20 minutes with McCann saying: "It looked like he got smashed on his ankle and it's just swollen a little bit." https://www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk/sport/football/a-few-are-hiding-grant-mccanns-verdict-on-doncaster-rovers-loss-to-luton-ian-lawlor-5336608

It sounds like he may have told the truth a bit more than some at Rovers would have liked If he had stuck to the narrative of exciting transfer window, and greedy snakes, I am sure he would have been left alone -
Higgins was on the bench for U18s today, first time (I think) he has been in a squad this season Rovers U18 were 1-0 up with a goal from Clanford (Joseph with the assist), but the game was suspended just before the end of the first half, no idea why
