Was Eustace on £600K/year max? Yes Can bargains be found at less than market value? Yes That does not change the fact that £600K/year is below the average amount that a Championship club would spend on that sort of appointment
-
The fact that Rovers are overperforming is not under discussion, I think we would all agree that they are The point you were arguing was that you stated that the £600K/year salary allegedly on offer was not well below market value for an average Championship club. You then pivoted to say it was market value for a bottom 6 budget Championship club. Which is correct
-
You have hit the nail on the head there So now you can use logic and reason to work out that the other 18 clubs (who do not have a bottom 6 wage budget) are paying their employees more than that
-
I would be confident that there are no more than 5 Championship managers on that kind of salary Is it stupid? yes But because the riches of the Prem are always just a good season away, established Championship players and managers/head coaches can command ridiculous remuneration
-
yes, its about 50% market value for an established manager The same applies to players
-
Assuming that the figures quoted by Nixon is correct, £600K/year on wages is about £11,500/week That is not much for a Championship manager/head coach position We also offer very low wages (in comparison to the majority of the Championship) Whilst we as fans think £15K/week is huge (and it is in comparison to normal life), the reality is that an average to good Championship player or Manager can easily ask for £20K-£30K/week, and get it. Which is why Rovers struggle to agree new contracts for our top, established performers

Starts this weekend for O'Riordan - won 3-0 - scored the opening goal Garrett - lost 2-1 - withdrawn with a few minutes left Wood - lost 1-0 - withdrawn midway through the 2nd half Eastham - drew 1-1 Barrett - lost 4-2 Honor - won 2-1 Saadi - drew 2-2 On the bench Markanday - lost 2-1 - came on for injury time, which turned out to be 15 minutes - Hopefully an end to their winning run sees Markanday return to the first team Not involved in matchday squad Duru - lost 3-0 - not sure why he is missing today, he did make a comeback from injury last week, so maybe a relapse? Vale - lost 1-0 - injured Batty - lost 2-1 - injured Olson - lost 2-1 - injured Goddard - lost 4-2 - injured Montgomery - drew 1-1 - injured Mafoumbi - lost 2-1 - still not featured in a matchday squad for Lierse since joining on loan -
U18s lost 2-1 vs Man Utd, Max Davies with the goal for Rovers. Based on the stats, Rovers got off lightly, but they lost the reverse 9-0 earlier in the season, so maybe that's some progress
-
You have your wires crossed, Buckley didn't make his debut until a couple of years after Rovers were in League 1 the year he played further forwards was Mowbray's last season (21/22)
-
He did, at the start of this season
-
I would say that this is one of the factors which has led to more outgoing loans, to put the players into a somewhat competitive environment, even if only for a month or so.
-
It is maybe worth considering that due to a combination of outgoing loans & injuries, the vast majority of minutes at U21 level this season have been played by teenagers, some who are still eligible for the U18s (Houghton, Atcheson, Dunn, Tyjon, Michalski) , and that given this years experience, next year, they will push on both individually, and as a group
-
Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere 15 minute chat between Zak Gilsenan & Elliott Jackson about his injury https://podfollow.com/1706105069/episode/eaa6628e53c121ddf278c5e5cc0c9197b1a3bbf8/view TLDR - he has had surgery, same injury as previous, will be back for pre season

Signed a 3 year contract with Malmö yesterday https://www.mff.se/nyheter/arnor-sigurdsson-klar-for-malmo-ff-2025-02-19/ He scored over a goal every 2 games in his last 2 seasons in Sweden. Surprised he has signed for so long unless there is a low release fee as he will surely fancy another crack at making it in a bigger league, and wages in Sweden are not (to my knowledge) huge The below is translated by Google, so may not be the most accurate "As a footballer, I know that I can help the team both on and off the pitch. I am fast, have good ball control and like to create chances and score goals. But also run and fight for the team. I can't wait to get started."

Rovers were away, but your point still stands https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2025/february/18/report--bolton-wanderers-b-2-1-rovers-under-21s/

Starts this evening for Olson - won 2-1 - injured midway through the first half Eastham - drew 2-2 - Ashton Utd move up to 2nd in the table On the bench Markanday - won 2-1 - after 5 starts, 2 goals and 1 assist, Markanday has not got off the bench in the past 2 games Wood - won 2-0 Not involved in matchday squad Goddard - drew 0-0 (broken finger) Montgomery - lost 2-0 - injured, went off at half time at the weekend -
Nope We do have a pair of Edmondson's that are brothers though
-
Presume the Facebook story is the same as the one they posted on their own site https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2025/february/18/gilsenan--my-toughest-challenge-yet/

Carter playing for the U21s this afternoon v Bolton in the Lancashire seniors Cup https://fulltime.thefa.com/displayFixture.html?id=27478288 Spoiler - they lost 2-1 https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2025/february/18/report--bolton-wanderers-b-2-1-rovers-under-21s/
-
yes, which makes him either 15 or 16 years old, and hopefully signing a first year scholarship at Rovers in the summer
-
Sergeant signed as a first year scholar last summer if that's what you are thinking of? Those groups are based on school years so he is definitely 16 or 17 now Higgins is the year below, so should hopefully follow suit this summer
-
Is their no chance that we can petition them to wait until the second week of April?
-
In their defence, they both have time on their side. Sergeant is either 16 or 17, and Higgins is 15 or 16

If only those in charge of the club spent as much effort on running the club in a sensible and efficient manner (player contracts, reinvestment of transfer fees received, management succession planning etc) as it did trying to vilify a former employee
