I do wonder how Mullarkey-Matthews found himself anywhere near the first team squad in pre season, even given our lack of wide players at the time, Doherty (who is currently on the bench) has much more about him Purely because he is a big lad for a wide player and quite physical?

Hopefully Joseph gets off the bench to play that role alongside him in the 2nd half

Well aware of the point you made, the point I made in response to it suggested it may be the role he was being asked to play He did pick up a couple of injuries on his loan last season, so possible that has impacted himt. But until he is forced into chasing the ball or a man at full pelt, we won't know for sure either way.

It is possible he is being asked to play the Ribeiro role, The formation & player roles look to be mirroring the first team, with the right back pushing forward more

4-2-3-1. either Gudjohnsen or Ohashi as the "1", with the other one coming off the bench to replace them for the last 20-30 mins, and Gueye on the bench in case they need something different (as well as Ohashi/Gudjohnsen, not instead of) late on. I imagine (and it probably should be) it will be the same 11 as against Watford

He plays there for Australia But for me, (the team that Yak has given), that midfield would be too lightweight/lackin in numbers, especially against one of the top teams in the division and I wouldn't want to see Ohashi or Wharton as a wider forwards/centre backs respectively, where their lack of pace would be painfully exposed. both are good centrally however, As others have said, it may also nullify Cantwell who has been excellent this season) the back 3/5 is a useful tool for seeing out games, and that for me is what it should be used for, not as a starting tactic when everyone is fit Ohashi looked wonderful at the start of last season coming off the bench for the last 20/30 minutes against tired legs. The arrival of Gudjohnsen hopefully allows that to happen again

There are definitely some promising arrivals, but the loss of so manuch Championship experience is worrying over the course of a season I said during the summer, and see no reason to change my mind, that if we are not involved in a relegation battle by the end of the season, then the scouting (incoming transfers) team have pulled off a minor miracle. At the same time, the team/people dealing with contract renewals have been shocking (I am aware that there is some overlap between who is involved in scouting/buying/contracts)

I think Gestede let the cat out of the bag with this one, He said Tronstad wants to go back to "a Scandinavian country", (he didn't specifically mention Norway), It is possible that either a Malmo, or a Copenhagen who "regularly" qualify for the Champions League might be able to rival Championship wages (or at least the Championship wages that Rovers are offering), if there is no fee to pay "Going forward, his future is not in the country so he doesn't want to discuss an extension or anything, as he has a personal reason to go back to a Scandinavian country."

The friendly is on Wednesday later this week, he wasn't in the squad for a league game at the weekend. Yep, O'Riordans seems a good one, and Edmondson & Pratt are being given a chance, but at the moment, the rest seem to be nothing more than squad fillers at their loan clubs

I think the likelihood is that they will have made a deal that they could stretch to if he has a real break out season and becomes a key player (which would probably also see Cantwell who will only have 1 year left next summer, departing to fund his salary) However, the most probable eventuality is that he is useful cover for a season, and then his loan ends and he returns to Birmingham in the summer

The permanent contract has to be agreed at the same time as the loan deal, yes, but there is nothing stopping Rovers from having the option of a permanent deal to take over his £20K ish per week deal and then simply not doing so... unless he randomly makes 20 odd goal contributions over the season and it makes sense to do so
