  1. Ah, that's why Nyambe never normally crosses...
  2. I was being slightly facetious, aye, we obviously have a very decent academy still and our starting line up and bench today is a testament to both that and the fact we do play them, I said it more out of the frustration that we haven't used these last few games to properly bleed in the youth (Johnson, Graham etc starting, but even something like Hilton or Fisher vice Jayson on the bench), plus Mowbray's previous with youngsters like Raya last year and Nyambe this week.
  3. Indeed - I don't think any of us are hoping that's the case, but given the relatively short turnaround before next season, Mowbray's allergy to the youth, the fact that if Brighton have kept even half an eye on him they'll not want him back, and the state of our transfer policy I do wonder.
  4. I did say it to take the piss a while ago but I do wonder if Walton's continual inclusion - especially today - is an indication he might not be going anywhere...
  5. Felt sorry for Graham through all this - age looks to have finally caught up with him this season but if he does leave this summer, which he sadly should, he won't get the send off he deserves.
  6. 5 changes: Out - Tosin, Bennett, Downing, Samuel, Graham In - Carter, Nyambe, Rothwell, Holtby, Brereton Pleased for Carter and Nyambe back where he belongs. Hopefully with a bit of pressure off and a clear head Brereton can do something today.
  7. October apparently.
  8. Will say I think EB is a genuinely nice bloke in a sport dominated increasingly my egos and mercenaries. I'll criticise him with the rest of us on here but replying to him just to tell him he's dreadful is too personal - you have to separate the individual from their job (however poorly executed). That, and you also end up with absolute belters wading in telling us he's the Second Coming. Funnily enough, these people never seem to be about when someone else gets torn a new one - see the replies on our Twitter timeline when Gallagher or Brereton make a hash of something. The former got annihilated when that chance v. Leeds went begging. One thing that does rile me is some of those who leap to the defence of the present set up (in all its guises) to tell us to keep quiet and just support the team. The greatest disrespect you can have towards anything is to not have standards for it: just keeping quiet and nodding along with everything is piss weak indifference, not support. I get annoyed at a hell of a lot of things with this club and a hell of a lot of those on the field playing for us, but that isn't me giving it large, it's because I care so much.
  9. Absolute farce. At best the only ones who can hold their heads up tonight are the ones who played the final ten minutes, JRC maybe who put in a reasonable shift for a man a tackle away from being sent off for 89 minutes (really wish he'd have converted at the end as it may just unlock that little bit of something else inside him [same goes for Nyambe]). The rest of them - no bollocks, no bite, no drive, nothing. I'd be ashamed if I put in a shift like that at work. Same old, same old. I think the final minute summed it up best: Walton launching it straight at the opposition man a mile from anyone else, Bennett pissing about with the free kick and the collective despair of wondering what could have been if the ball had fallen to someone else. Downing at False 9 is just the cherry on the cake, it's something you'd do after a few beers on Fifa with your mates. No excuses now: Johnson, Graham (that breaks my heart), Mulgrew, Samuel, Walton etc all must have played their last for us. We're allegedly skint, with nothing to play for and more youth than you can shake a stick at festering away week after week. We might as well try and salvage something from this dismal conclusion to our season.
  10. Laughed at this. If I didn't I'd probably be crying on the floor. What a mess. You genuinely never know what'll happen next with Rovers these days.
  11. Looking better, which is something I guess. Shown more in this 5 minutes than we have in the previous 45. Anyway, iFollow has been particularly awful tonight with the visuals. Showing unremarkable replays over and over whilst you can hear the match carrying on on the audio. Missed the Millwall goal and had that corner gone in we'd have missed that too. Not expecting the world from it but bloody hell it's so amateurish at times.
  12. Was thinking this, just Arma's shot inside the first few minutes is all I recall.
  13. Been completely outclassed in the few minutes leading up to that goal. Got a nice audio commentary of it though whilst iFollow showed about 15 replays of a replay...
  14. What a goal Arma!
  15. That was fun while it lasted.
  16. Got lucky there, how many chances did we need to clear that?
  17. Just a thought - maybe we are continuing to play Walton as we intend on having him back next year...
  18. Bennett, Rothwell, Holtby and Gallagher out for JRC, Downing, Samuel and Graham... What did I say, same revolving door of players. Right players were dropped at least, sadly all bar JRC were the wrong ones to bring in!
  19. Agreed, probably should have clarified before I still want our skeleton of Nyambe / Lenihan / Tosin - Travis - Arma present by and large, just the usual suspects rightfully dropped and, instead of being replaced by more filler or dodgy formation changes, replaced by actual lads hungry to prove themselves. It won't be good for either anyone concerned if we essentially field the u23 squad.
  20. Don't want to sound trite but honestly just play the youth. Nowt left to play for and we might as well see just who is good enough over a decent run of pressure-free matches. Sooner have someone like JRC and Davenport at least getting a proper look in than Bennett and Johnson doing the usual for 90 minutes. May even make some discoveries that alleviate the mile long shopping list we have for the summer transfer window. Of course, what'll happen is the same core of 15 or so players we've had in the past four matches. If you didn't laugh you'd cry. Going for a Cardiff win come what may.
  21. Still not sure how I feel about Holtby - expected big things when he signed but he seems to have spent most of the time injured or having very brief flashes of brilliance (which is sadly wasted by and large because of the people he leads the line with!).
  22. Once again, absolute piss. I will be honest I only kept half an eye on the game after their third goal, we all knew it was just going to fade into nothing, so I'm not going to pass comment directly on Buckley, Davenport etc who came on essentially for the sake of it. The whole thing honestly struck me as a Firsts v. Reserves game you'd have on the training ground. Dull, uninspired, sort of a general aura of 'we're not meant to win anyway'. No Rovers player comes away from today looking good, the best you can say for most of them is that they aren't Gallagher, Johnson or Walton. Leeds, though they didn't look like world beaters, completely played us off the park today. As much as some of their antics annoyed me (how I would loved to have seen Bamford up against Andy Todd), we had no response. The game all hinged on that Gallagher chance just after Leeds went one up. There is no excuse at all for scoring that. The whole SG situation used to humour me more than anything, now it just pisses me off. The fact that we paid £5M and that he still features is an absolute scandal. I think the most telling thing today was when Arma got us back into it. The camera panned to Mowbray who was just sat there like he was in a waiting room or something. With a man like that leading you you can well understand why the journeymen and almost mercenaries in the squad don't look arsed half the time. All hell should break lose after our dismal week, but we all know nowt will happen. It's a disgrace. Couple of other quick points: - Sadly no point in wishing Walton was dismissed to force Mowbray's hand: we'd only end up with Canadian Buffon and not a youngster. - As much as I like the iFollow commentators, they really need to stop being so blindly optimistic. More chance of us going down than reaching the play offs now. Tuesday's a must win for Cardiff, aye, doesn't make the slightest difference for us now.
  23. Fair play, good finish. Think that's it. Can only wonder what might have been if Gallagher could play football...
  24. Happens every time. Disappears after a while.
  25. Given what our form and consistency is like I fully expect us to reappear for this one and the two games thereafter. Not expecting a result mind, narrow defeat for me. Play anything like the last two games and it could be painful though. Lenihan back in, shift Mulgrew or Downing to left back, and bring back Travis but only if he is genuinely ready. Would suggest things for up top but there's more chance of Elvis turning up than there is of us changing that system. Will be interested to see what Mowbray does 60 minutes in when he can't do his usual direct swap of the front three he seems to have favoured since the restart. Will probably end up with Buckley leading the line flanked by Arma and Graham or something.
