Rovers v Barnsley. Sat 28 Nov 3pm
GHR replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Feel so sorry for Gallagher. -
I don't know if any of that was addressed directly at me, but re: your last paragraph, I always go down the line of "I wouldn't want to live like them, they wouldn't want to live like me". I couldn't care less how someone appears or what they do so long as it isn't compulsory!

I don't have any nor do I have any intention to, but I don't generally mind them; I just think unless you're like how@Dreams of 1995 sounded above and go all in they've really lost a lot of meaning. It seems like every man and his dog these days has a completely anonymous sleeve tattoo, which I don't quite get, but some of the personalised stuff which clearly has meaning to the wearer can look pretty good. I think a lot of it is a generational thing: back in the day obviously the only people with tattoos were ex army or prison, or something outside a 'normal' life. Nowadays it's as much a fashion as anything.

By my understanding Tier 3 residents aren't supposed to travel outside of their own area though are they, so even if Rovers did decamp to, say, Southport, only those fans not living in Lancs, Greater Manchester etc. could realistically show up?

Nobbers v Rovers, Tues 24 Nov 7.45pm

I have been critical in the past of a more than one of our star performers tonight, but I am delighted to take it all back and then some. I have no idea at all what has happened to Brereton since March but I am struggling to recall such a noticable, sustained transformation in one of our players. He was utterly superb tonight, and well worthy of his goal (I'll go with clever finish over scuffed fluke!) and assist tonight. If Gallagher persists with how he has been since he came on on Saturday afternoon then I am also starting to feel optimistic about him. Didn't stop running all night and, for the first goal, did exactly what he should be doing when stuck out wide - using his combination of pace and strength to create opportunities. Would have loved for him to have bagged his goal at the end. Also delighted for Dolan tonight - had one hell of six months but I feel his goal tonight was a nice closure for his departure from North End, and also a fitting tribute to both his friend he lost and the sheer joy he has given us so far. Praise is due though to everyone involved tonight - Kaminski looks unlike anyone I've seen at Rovers post-Friedel, Douglas brought to the table what he was renowned for at Leeds, Wharton is more than holding his own so far, Lenihan had some fire about him - we need that, Trybull had his best game as a Rover, Holtby is basically Andrea Pirlo, Rothwell and Arma did what Rothwell and Arma do, Buckley and Davenport looked bright when they came on... It feels so good to type this with a beaming smile and absolutely nothing negative to say. Easily the game I've enjoyed the most since the summer restart. Now, please God, can we have some of that against Barnsley and not a rerun of Kenilworth Road... -

Some of our passes at the back have been a bit dodgy tonight, dread to think what Calamity Walton would have done with that head-height backpass just then! -

Feel for Gallagher. Scored a genuinely crucial goal to save us on Saturday and gets rewarded with another attempt at the role which has stunted him in just about every regard for the past season. -

I agree the current range of products is poor. I daresay one of the problems is that our badge really doesn't translate well onto clothing other than our shirts, certainly when you just stick it onto a polo shirt like the examples in the opening post. Liverpool and Rangers are two clubs that have different badges for different purposes: their recognised ones for media and publishing and whatever else, but different, simpler designs on their kits and some merchandise. I think Rovers may benefit from similar, say a Red Rose with Arte Et Labore curved above it, and 1875 curved below it (I wish I had the skills to knock together a mock up!). That would complement any clothing an awful lot better than what we use at present. I'd also go in for a more fashionable and diverse array of design for shirts, casual T-shirts that play on the blue and white halves, etc. -

Was thinking that, two forward balls he had near the end, both were as bad as each other. -

Very rarely I have a go at refs as most of them are subpar these days, but I'll make an exception for the one today. Absolutely abysmal. -

I'm quite fortunate in that I'm still working full time throughout this, and during lockdowns I think the tenner for Rovers every so often is my only non-essential expense. All that said mind, I have no intention of ever looking at how much I have spent on iFollow since the restart in summer! -

Must say I am looking forward to this game for no reason other than the combination of international break and lockdown was awful. I'll make a scoreline prediction at approximately 14.01 tomorrow... -

Only drifted in and out of that it was a decent watch and a well-deserved point. Thought Saffron Jordan was unlucky to have her one on one called back for the Liverpool player's handball (?) in the second half - imagine the outrage if that had happened in the Men's game. What a game Alex Brooks had for us in goal by the way, two or three superb saves. Get her in the Men's side if Kaminski's not back in time for Luton! -

Very professional job on the Liverpool FC YouTube channel in fairness. Unsurprisingly though the commentators aren't the most balanced, so I think I'll be watching on mute! -

I can imagine for an American something like the Madejski would be very familiar. For me, one of the best things about British football, and it still remains true by and large, is that the clubs are so ingrained within the towns and cities they represent. Even though the clubs have grown into global brands, stadiums like Anfield, Goodison Park and even Spurs' new place still sit within the suburbs, with all the pubs and other landmarks that have served the locals for decades. For me, Ewood Park rising out of the rows of terrace houses and narrow backstreets around Ewood is as synonymous with the club as the blue and white halves. I would hate to spend my Saturdays traipsing to an industrial estate, miles from a pub but with plenty of Pizza Huts, to sit in a perfectly symmetrical bowl that could just as easily be in a different end of the country altogether. Thank God we chose to redevelop Ewood in the 90s instead of flogging it to the highest bidder and moving to wherever we fitted. Like North End managed at Deepdale, we ended up with a thoroughly decent modern stadium (well, three sides of one) whilst staying on the patch we've occupied for 130 years now. Anyway, about the Luton match... -

They had some sort of legal challenge I believe from Intu after they received planning permission, not entirely sure what became of it but as far as I know they're good to proceed now. I've only ever been to Kenilworth Road once - that FA Cup fixture where Samba made his debut - my overriding memory of the day is the abuse Luton keeper Marlon Beresford got from us for his claret and blue past. As someone too young to remember the olden days pre-Taylor Report and all that, I still love the likes of Kenilworth Road and Griffin Park. Give me (safe!) tightly hemmed in, cramped old school grounds a million times over a 'perfect' soulless box in the middle of nowhere. Some of them are occasionally decent - Derby and Rotherham - but Reading and Leicester? Dreadful days out.
