I think that is more likely the reality of things. I got the impression that the first meeting was to propose and flesh out the notion of forming a football club. If that was Christmas 74' then the actual official founding would not be until 1875. As you say, we have had 1875 as part of our crest for a long time. Oh, and as I suspected we always played in blue and white.

If you have to justify your own existence then you probably shouldn't exist.

He's a bottler plain and simple. He can pull it together and get the team really humming. Unfortunately he can only manage to do that when it doesn't count for anything. This is the reason it always turns to shit in January. It's all well and good going on a winning streak in November, there is no pressure. Come January and you have to make the results count. That's when it all goes south. Then a good run again at the end of the season when there is nothing to play for. He even bottled it when it came to winning the 3rd Division. His record in derby games is poor also. Again these are games that count and mean something. At the end of the day he just ain't got the bottle to achieve anything other than a mid table plod.

One can only hope.

Great to see there is so much written about the club and that it comes from many different eras. Can we now definitively pin down what shirts we played in at the very beginning of the club's history? It's something that's really been bugging me for a while as I've read conflicting things. Some say it was white shirts with the Maltese cross and others say it was always blue and white halves.

If we aren't promoted this tear he needs to go. We definitely need someone new in to shake things up and off a new perspective. Mowbray has done good with Rovers and certainly doesn't deserve some of the flack he gets from some, but it's time to part ways.

100% Wish we'd have had this when I used to go. One of my fondest memories is dancing about at the very front of the Blackburn End as we hammered Bonleh 5-0.

There are the three players out of contract, the loan players and we will most likely be losing Diaz. I make that 6 or 7 minimum. That means a total rebuild will be on next season, no doubt with little to no money available and your mates Wags and Mogs will likely be in charge of that. I'd say the pessimism is thoroughly justified. Unless of course you know something we don't.

6. He has brought some much needed stability but when it comes to the big games and getting results when it really matters then he hasn't got the bottle. He's got a long proven track record of doing really well up to Christmas then blowing it in the new year. Ultimately that is not good enough. He doesn't deserve any ill will but he has not earned a place amongst the managerial legends at this club despite his long tenure. Ultimately he will be somewhat anonymous in the annals of Rovers history, just one more in a long line of managerial mediocrity that has come to be the hallmark of the Venkys reign.
